I had a similar problem with Santander ,they sent lots of forms to my address in the uk asking do i own property in the uk do i own property in Thailand have i a business am i a partner in a business . cut a long story short i phoned them up spoke to a lady . told her i had filled the forms in and sent them back why do you keep saying you will close my account .she asked me would i be willing to answer the same questions now just answer yes or no , so i did never heard no more that was before christmas . One thing that was strange my online banking by computer would not let me log on the same time i received the letters i was told my pass word was wrong .i was told to download the app when i phoned to complain . so now i have santander app also my Thai phone number and i have lived here thirteen years . Yes i agree very stressful , i have been with them for years and always used the same address may i have just got lucky .

Three months ago Santander threatened to close my account unless I jumped through a number of hoops. These included providing a copy of my mothers will from 8 years ago when a large sum arrived in my acc. + a notified translation of my Tabien Ban as proof of address. I found the whole proccess very streesful and threatening and although I went through with it I complained. In the end they credited my acc. with 200 pounds to compensate for the trouble they put me through and wrote me a letter saying all was fine with my account.
Today my brother in the UK received a letter (I use his address for their correspondence as it takes months to arrive here) saying they are closing my account and I have 2 months to make alternative arrangements.
Although I detest the man I now identify a little with Nigel Farage.Anyway, I wondered if anyone else has faced this problem of finding a new bank in the UK. I don't want all my money to be here in Thailand so need another UK account or maybe an online one.
Any suggestions much appreciated -

Thanks for your reply comment.
BTW, from your comment, it sounds like you're having a great time. ????
i love living in Thailand friendly people never had a problem . i have seen many foreigners here make very bad life changing mistakes and become very bitter and angry . I understand i am an Alien but that is a rule of Thailand that i except . never had a problem with immigration because i stick to the rules , it is just an excuse people make when they accuse you of being a whinnger .

Aaaah, you have an issue with immigration.
I have no issues with how Thailand manage their foreigners/expats that are living here.
Only issue I have is there are too many whinging and whining foreigners trying to change Thailand, demanding this and that.
Leave it alone, it works for me.
If you are not happy being an 'alien' you are free to leave, no one is stopping you or forcing you to stay.
i have been here thirteen years , but unlike you in know where i stand . i am here for my revolving door of Thai women and cheap cost of living . Up to you if you want to invest here . when it suits me i will be returning to my country with my bank balance still very healthy .i did not come here to get married or buy property when i have property back home .i am here to enjoy myself .

I live in a gated community, close to town. I bought my first house 2001, second house a couple of years later, me and my family have been living in this house ever since (renting out the first house).
I've calculated, rents and renovations etc. I'm way ahead, house price has increased, so have rents over the last 2 decades.
I'd hate to think how many times me and my family would have had to relocate over the many years (landlord issues etc.) plus I've got the house exactly how I want it.
Alien stamped in your passport should explain where you stand .

Today i tried several times to send money to the Uk . Bangkok bank froze my account because of my constant use . I visited Bangkok Bank i was told there is a problem with the QR code .I contacted Dee money and explained i have never had this problem before .After waiting a couple of hours thay suggested i use another Bank .????
To be honest i dont think they have any idea on how to solve the problem .
My next question is can i open an account with Super Rich ? can i exchange Bahts for Uk pounds . Is this
possible at the small branch Super Rich branch in Udon Thani . Thank you .

Despite what the others are saying I'm afraid there is no correct answer. It all depends on the exact way the bank expects its staff to input your number. From the inputted number, the computer system will dial the number, not a human.
When I did the same it took three or four times for the bank staff to work out the correct input. We tried several different inputs until it worked. This is harder than it sounds because it would take the bank 24 hours for the new telephone number to go into the system before it could then be checked to see that it worked with the automatic dialling system they use.
The question you are asking can only really be answered by the nerdy computer programmer who set up the database for telephone numbers.
Yes i understand , i had that problem with the Halifax two three phone calls before they got it right . This time it is Santander and i am having to change my security details . the contact number is all part of the details i have to fill in . if that is not accepted then back to square one .

Hello i have been on the phone for forty minutes to the Uk .They were very patient and have decided after trying to talk me through the process they will send details to my home address in the Uk . my daughter will send them on with instructions . they will arrive in two seperate letters for security . one thing puzzles me she said i am entering the wrong security numbers ? i have used these same numbers for many years ,also i used the same security number today with Wise money transfer .
so i will now wait and see what happens and keep every one informed .
