  1. My car overheated in Klong Hat and as I was looking at the engine with no idea how to fix it (even if I knew what the problem was) a scooter drove up and a Thai gentleman looked at the wirering for a couple of min. and then jumped on his bike and left, after about 5min. he returned with some wire and fixed the cooling fans. I speak very little Thai but tried to pay him and he said "NO, MAYBE YOU CAN HELP SOME-ONE SOMETIME" (translation)..... I found where this man works and now each time I pass through Klong Hat I stop with a small gift for his granddauther.

  2. I am having problems with my Lexmark printer/scanner (1100 series)does anyone have the fix answer?

When I try to either copy or scan to file's the screen resolution drops to eight(8) which is too low and each time I have too go back into the control panel and change it back to 16bit this only works for the one scan then it drops again. Any suggestions out there......? Thank You

  3. Hi

Just want to check to see if I am correct with the following. I am 50 years old and my husband is 46. I would like to retire in Thailand and would like my husband with me. We are both British. He does not intend to work or open a business.

    1. Both apply for12 month Multiple Non Immigration O visa from Consulate in UK

2 Travel to Thailand and hopefully nice Immigration Officer at airport will stamp visas for 12 months

    3. Open Thai Bank Account and transfer money form UK

    4. Do visa run before first 90 days have elapsed.

    5. Have British Wedding certificate translated into Thai and verified by British Embassy in Bangkok

    6. Once the funds have cleared I apply for O-A (retirement )visa

Regarding my husband which would be the best option wait for his 12 month Multiple Non Immigration O visa from Consulate in UK to expire or apply for another for12 month Multiple Non Immigration O visa (dependants visa) at the same time as I apply for mine?

Any information would be gratefully received. Any replies in plain English please as I am confused enough. Thanks :o

Just returned from Bangkok/Chanthaburi I just returned from Immagr. Thialand and it was great 51min. from walk-in to walk-out !!!!!with "Retiredment visa and Mult. entry.. A bit of the oppst. but the wife and I (being a bit senior) applyied in the U>S. for our first retirement visa and each one here (after the fact) after has been nothing short of easy it pay's to be legal
  4. I also have the X-Sat box and have had no problems with dream tv, (but) my next purchase will be the DM500 which has auto-roll, and seems to be the best on the market at the moment. I have put my silver box 2 in the closet and will probably make a planter out of it.............

  5. Thank You Tim, I was just looking for "a" place where the farang's may hang out once a week or so, I am pretty much a grocery store drinker and there's plenty out my way. Close to AmWay

    Jim

That is what I thought you meant but wasn't sure. I have not seen farang congregate anywhere but as I said, I don't go out drinking so there could be a small group getting together somewhere.

You have mentioned AmWay a couple of times but I have never noticed it. Could be I just don't go by that area much. The only part of Sukhumvit I travel much is between the junction with 317 and the first turn off into town after Makro. Where is AmWay?

If you go past Makro heading toward Trat it is another 1K or so. Theres the ford dealership and amway on the right
  6. Any one know of any farang pubs/bars in the Chanthaburi area, feel free to PM me

I'm not sure what you are looking for. I can think of a Thai style massge parlor and an area with karaoke bars, some clubs and a disco. Never been in any of the mentioned as I don't drink much so I can't give specifics other than location and view from driving past. There is one location with a couple of bars that from the outside look like they might be discos or gogo type bars. If you are looking for a place where farang congregate I have no idea. One of the things I love about Chan is that it isn't swamped with farang. If you want locations of any of the above, let me know.

  7. The wife and I just moved from Aran to Chanthaburi and love it, still moving in but almost done. We rent a house (new) but no swimming pool for 6200bt per month, The pool at the new travel lodge is avail. for 100bt per month. If your in the area give a shout........If I can help with looking for a house let me know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.........Jim

  8. Need to go too Chanthaburi, anyone know if highway 3 from Sakaew is open for general traffic????

The highways are open but you wont be able to get into downtown chanthaburi. While the water is starting to recede, it's still severally flooded in most parts of chanthaburi. I would advice you to stay away from Chanthaburi until perhaps monday or tuesday.

    tompa

Thank You Tompa, I went over from Aran to Chanthaburi Sunday and it was a hel_l of a mess, I was able to get too my house but had too go the long way around and prove by way of house paper where my house was .The police were great and even gave me a escort to the house.
  9. anyone have any hotel reccos for the border town of Aranyaprethet (opposite Poipet, Cambodia)? I will not be crossing over into Cambo but staying on the Thai side. Any small clean bungalow or resort will do (a pool would be nice and it gets ###### hot and dusty over there).

    Thanks :o

The best hotel in Aran for short periods is the MARKET HOTEL, It will run from 230bt to 400bt and has a great swimming pool. If you need location just give a yell
  10. Anybody know where I can rent a motorbike in chantaburi? I thought about buying one but due to family politics I would prefer to rent. I spend about 3 months per year in Chantaburi so I want my own wheels instead of using the family bike and having to be back at certain times to run family errands like picking kids up at school.

Tim for your rental you can get a cycle at several locations at Chao Lao beach which is only 15 min. from Chantaburi or you may try (039) 321 354) which is located on Sukhumvit Rd. across from the Amway dealership.

Let me know how you make out with the rental and I will be back in Chantaburi next week and try to help ya out. (Jim-----Aranyaprathet/Chantaburi)[email protected]

  11. The Land Of Smiles :o

Cambodia anybody??? Looks good to me...?

Just don't walk off the road or you may discover Cambodia's meaning of boom.

I have lived in Thailand for 3 years and after checking the law's prior to coming I arrived with a retirement visa and have had no problems at all ....If such as you start yelling about leaving "go,go,go" just obey the law and you also will have NO PROBLEMS

  12. I have had luck in the past by contacting the U.S. Embassy for information if they have him on record they will notify him of your mobil or email address but will not give you the info . Another way is to contact the Thai immagration office they have been very helpful in the past also.........Good Luck

  13. Do not live in Sakaew , but do live very close in Aranyaprathet or actually about 10k out of town. There are several farang's out this way around 15 or so but I beleive I am the only one with a little blond wife from Seattle. Have a great Thai day.
