Thanks for the replies.
I've been researching apartments near 'Phra Khanong', and it's not seeming to be a good way to search. Are there any other 'suburb' names that would make it easier to search?
Thanks again!

..........to attend no less than 2-3 years of undergraduate school at Bangkok University..........
I assume you are fluent in written and spoken Thai!!
Is one of your parents Thai?
Does this mean you could obtain a Thai passport?
That would make the whole exercise much easier.
lol, of course not.
All classes are taught in english, and my international travels have taught me that I normally pick up langauges quickly. (I've been to 12 countries, and lived in 4)
I hope to focus primarily on my studies, and allow my interactions with the culture to teach me to at least speak Thai.
It is not necessary to know the Thai language at all to study in an international program here. It will help you, but not necessary. You will probably just learn Thai through interaction with the Thai students there. You can also take Thai language classes there. As for buying a condo; I would hold off. Wait until you have lived and studied here awhile before you jump into that. You might realise that it's not for you after a year and then you'd be stuck with the condo. Rent for awhile first.
I really appreciate the response.
Last night I spent a great deal of time looking at both apartments and condo both for rent and purchase, but the BU website doesn't have beans for information regarding where it's located. If anyone could let me know the areas closest to to the university for my apartment hunting, that would be great. The closer the better. (care to do business suncoast? )

Slated-The gym I was passed on to when looking for info and talked with seems well done and serious. I got a good vibe from them. I just don't want to be in Bangkok and I want to do my own thing.
Anyway, they apeared to be looking.
I would e-mail Daniel at Fitcorp and see if you are both wanting the same things.
Good luck
Before losing my ACL, I used to train in Thai fighting, and am hoping to find a gym that caters to fighters, as my experience in strength training would be of great benefit.

Basically I want to work with individuals and design nutrition plans and life styles changes to meet the goals the clients have. Be it weight loss, increased energy etc
I'm wondering on all the legal, visa, permit stuff.
Basically I'll either work out of a house or rent some space.
What are my options? Any help would be great.
Thanks
Mark
(I have Canadian and British papers)
I have my ACE and Premier (uk), and am looking to do similar while studying as part time job(hopefully through a gym though).

19-20 Business/Marketing major at college
20-21 contracted to personal train models in London (till end of visa)
21-24 Hired by manufacturing as manager of Sales/Marketing/National Tradeshows
I'm hoping to be able to fall back on my fitness background while living in Bangkok.
Thanks again
Happy to help, but need to know, what is the info you are looking for?
I've been reading on here for about the last 4 hours, and I must say.... Sunbelt, you are truly an asset to this board.
1.) As I'm hoping to be there for numerous years for schooling/culture/travel, does it seem wise that I purchase instead of rent?
2.) Will the Thai government allow me to work for the entire time I'm there studying.
I appreciate your taking the time to reply. If you need a personal trainer early next year, I owe you one

In the next 6-8 moths, I am hoping to be able to move to bangkok. I will be selling my house in the U.S. and be arriving with (wire transfer) 1-1.3mil baht and would like to buy a condo. As I'm hoping to attend no less than 2-3 years of undergraduate school at Bangkok University, is it possible, by taking summer classes as well, to stay in Thailand for at least the 2-3 years.
I have no doubt in my ability to be accepted at the University, since I will be transfering (hopefully) some credits from my previous college, where I held a 3.75 gpa.
I did a search on student visa, but it didn't exactly cover the information I'm looking for.
I appreciate anything you can share.

Thank you for all the information!
I'll keep your contact information in my records.
The housing market is in sad shape in many places throughout the midwest (florida as well so I've heard). I've always had a nack for finance, and was even asked to teach an interterm finance course at my previous university, so I keep a close eye on many domestic markets. I currently live in the far northern, midwest of the U.S. and it's truly a buyers market.
I've received a job offer near miami, which I will likely decline because of the cost of living there, despite the market being saturated with vacant space. As I'm looking to sell my own house, I can only pray that the market will improve soon.
