There is much to bellyache about.  Here, there, everywhere.  I have lived in many countries, including a couple years in Britain - where I think the majority of readers/contributors of this forum are from.

News Flash:  It is never all good.  If you want perfection, die and go to a supposed heaven.  Bet you will get bored out of your skull when it really is all white robes and church music.....forever.  No beer, either.

If there were a god - despite a total lack of evidence - it would be an extraordinarily strange being with a cosmically vast sense of humor.  

The leaky logic some people express - "But someone or something must have created the universe" is a bald faced fallacy.  For centuries, skeptics and thinkers have pointed out to the desperate, groping masses that if everything needs a creator, then where the heck did "the Creator" come from?

Another absurdity is a god's lifestyle.  Living forever (if any of us can wrap our heads around that), It would be totally bored to distraction.  When you're infinitely powerful, all of creation can be designed and brought into existence in less than one nano-second, so what's a "supreme being" to do as other pastimes?  And if the same being is all-knowing, what's the point of designing less than perfect humans and then hanging around to see how they all turn out?  And meting out eternal (there's a big word again) tortures as fair dinkum for anyone who ever lied or cheated or stole, etc. and then died before a shaman/priest was able (for a small offering) to make everything right with the big guy?  Sounds more like a mob shakedown than a religious service.

 In a way, adopting any religion is in irrational dodge.  Although that gives me an idea to be one step ahead of the missus.  Next time I misplace my car keys, I'll blame it on a superior, invisible being.  And if I pray hard enough and he returns them without too much fuss - like leaving them suddenly on the kitchen table where I thought I left them in the first place - well, that will just prove that there is a Big Guy In The Sky who watches over me.  How comforting!

The short summary?  God didn't create man.  Man created gods.
