  1. You don't need any of this to buy a single condo unit in Thailand.

    As long as the condo building on the whole has majority Thai ownership, i.e. 51% of the units are owned by Thais, then a foreigner can own any unit in the building.

    It is NOT the same as owning land, where you'd need to set up a scheme similar to what you posted -- and even in that case, it is unadvisable, but doable.

  2. Did the lockdown degrade this column, or is this typical output for the author?

    You're not as clever as you make yourself out to be. The writing is try-hard and full of itself.

    I'm back in high school reading my friend's dopey essay where every line is brilliant... according to him.

    Hint: writing done well shouldn't bring attention to itself. You break this rule at every turn.

    Fail.

  3. Hello,

    My situation is as follows:

    - Child out of wedlock with a Thai woman.

    - We currently live together in Chiang Mai.

    - The mother will be moving to Chiang Rai to take care of her family's farm.

    - Our relationship isn't the best, but I am dedicated to supporting and seeing the child. So far the mother has been cooperative.

    - I won't be moving to Chiang Rai.

    Questions:

    - If the mother and child move to Chiang Rai, and I stay in Chiang Mai, can I still get a non-immigrant O visa (either single entry from say Laos, or multi entry from Penang)?

    - If the mother and child move to Chiang Rai, and I stay in Chiang Mai, can I extend this visa at immigration in Chiang Mai?

    - What sort of cooperation would I need from the mother for the two questions above?

    Thanks for your advice.

    tl;dr can I get a non-immigration O visa for visiting my half-Thai child, even if we live in different provinces?

  4. Quick question about the ability to visit half-Thai child (I am the father) if the relationship with the mother ends.

    I guess the question relates to:

    * Obtaining non-immigrant O visa at consulate with documents if the mother doesn't cooperate in providing documents like original birth certificate, copy of blue book, copy of ID, etc. (I'm unsure if she will at this point or not);

    * Getting extensions in Thailand to visit the child if the mother and I don't live in the same house or same province (both scenarios could happen)

    * Any other things I should be aware of

    I see no problem with the documents you have listed.

    1. You are shown in the blue house book as being the parent of your child. Your child being shown in it is the only important entry in it.

    2. Yes

    3. Not a problem since you will be applying for a non-o visa.

    Have you made an appointment to do the application yet. That is required at Vientiane. See: https://thaivisavientiane.com/#

    Thank Ubonjoe.

    Perfect, thanks for the reply. I did make the appointment and it's been confirmed. Thanks again for the follow up.

  6. Hello

    I will be going to Vientiane to apply for a non-immigrant O visa (reason: raising half-thai child).

    The documents I have are:

    * Copy of mother's Thai ID;

    * Copy of blue book entries for mother and child;

    * Original and copy of birth certificate.

    A few questions:

    1. The blue book that the mother and child are registered in belongs to a family friend. The mother and child are listed with their Thai identification numbers in the blue book. I am also listed in the blue book (with my name in Thai script, and my nationality). I was told this won't be a problem. Is there anything I should be aware of about this?

    2. The birth certificate has my name on it in Thai script. Will this be acceptable?

    3. I was given a red stamp from Vientiane last time warning about too many tourist visas. Now I will be applying for a non-immigrant O visa. Will this red stamp cause any issues?

    Thanks
