Thanks Joe. The first crossing was on a METV 2 days before it expires. The second was visa exempt. I thought it was only visa exempt not METV but the IO said otherwise. My wife was with me and they talked about it in Thai. You had apparently done 2 visa exempt entries at a land border crossing this year when you were told that.
There is no limit if you have a valid visa for entry to the country.

I was going to go to Savannaket and hopefully get a non O based on marriage next week. I left Thailand in late May when my metv ran out and returned in early July on a SETV. When that expired in late August I went to Cambodia and returned via Hat Lek on a visa exempt. When I went through the IO said I had used up my 2 land crossings for the year. If I go to Savannaket and get my Non O will I still be able to return to Thailand by land or will I need to fly in having done 2 land crossings already this year? Thanks.

It was the Prime Minister who said it. In Australia only older people use cash. I have an app on my phone which shows all my account balances.Right. Immigration could install a credit card reader, get an authorization for a 20,000 baht payment but don't capture it. This would allow them to verify that a credit card is valid and has the requisite funds available, without causing the visitor any trouble.

Your English is fine. Most kids these days can't even spell their name. People are nasty.I will answer in just one post what I have read other op wrote about my contribution to this forum.
Somebody told me I must learn english. Yes, is my second language. BTW I have written I was carrying usd 700 and english speakers with reading comprehension issues couldn´t get is more than 20k baht. After that I think my english is more than enough.
Yes, I´m native of "one of those South American countries". At least parliament still works on one of those countries....
We are having other kind of issues right now.
Immigration officer told me that Korea will not let me stay unlimited, and I replied to him that if a Thai national would like to stay more than two years in my country, could make it without harassment.
If a thai citizen wants to go to civilized Europe what would happen with it´s visa? Easy to understand the reciprocity. Right?
I´m coming to Thailand since nine years ago. I dont work here. If I have a landlady is because I like the place where i stay. Not difficult to understand.
Passport was one more time thicker and money shown was one more time slimmer.
I have read the post of the 32 years old english guy and that made me write my post, just to advise he was not the only one.
I love this country. Im a honest guy. Not criminal. Place where I live, people respect me.
All said.

The Thai government wants to change Thailand to a cashless economy according to the PM.In Australia its widely recommend not to travel overseas with large amounts of money, people going to Bali and the Philippines from here use travel cards especially first time travelling.

Unfortunately Bangkok Air own Trat airport and only fly from BKK.A pity that there don't appear to be any direct flights between U-Tapao (as mentioned by the OP) and Trat, though - unless I've missed something in the Google search I've just conducted. But I suppose the OP could always go the pretty way from U-Tapao to Trat via BKK if he was desperate enough to minimise the perils of road travel on Highway 3!

Bangkok Air flies Swampy to Trat. Can get a car to the border. Not to mention the risk you run with these rides on the basis of the number of manically-driven vans I've regularly witnessed thundering their way along Highway 3 in my neck of the woods!

They ask for 1500 baht for Cambodian Visa instead of $30usd. If you are persistent you can usually get $30. Just politely keep saying $30 USD and they give in after a while. Evisa is $36 and doesn't take a page in your passport. Saves all the stress but make sure you get the proper government site. Koh Kong is ok. The Tavern has nice farung food as does Fat Sam's. Both run by friendly UK guys. Lots of friendly expats. Cheap entertainment area.Good advice. I have never done that border crossing as I'm on annual extensions. I suggested only as good excuse to spend time koh Chang. Can you add detail. What was the amount of extortion. Guess we can accept if suits end result. Never nice to get one up the ....
