...at least the normal Tescos or Homepros do not have any...thanks!

I need a few semi-precious stones/rocks as a present - not the polished ones, but those raw ones which look like a rock and are cut, inside it´s the semi-precious thing (sorry, can´t explain better).
Found one shop at MBK, but the three stones they had were not beautiful. Not looking for something expensive, small stones would be perfectly ok.
Thanks for any ideas!

outrageous
i would have loved to see one of them alive under water
thanks for reporting this!

yeah, the "health" test is new.
really wonderful to have a check for leprosy, syphilis, elephantisis, tuberculosis.
nothing against a decent health check, but this just seems to be a reason to "draw blood".
to be honest: this was the first time i taught about why i want to stay here, if such ridiculous tests are required.

if you happen to live in the jungle, perfectly ok.
come on: why don´t you move in with him and not adapt him to human living, where he is really not meant to be? sorry for the harsh words, but I just can´t imagine a civet living in a moobaan/cage (omg)

Thanks for your answers - and yes, we did have the original Thai driver´s licenses with us as well...no help, just a veryyyy arrogant response at Morakot (Emerald Pool) yesterday. We´ll then leave Shell Cemetary out this time...
A shame how the mood can be spoiled in this lovely country

Sorry, I´m sure this has been chewed over again and again - but I´d still really like to have some facts (and not start a 245th discussion .
As work-permit holder foreigners permanently living in LOS - are we allowed to "raka khon Thai" or is it just goodwill? If latter, then it´s ok - but if otherwise, it´s not very nice having these discussions, in spite of Thai language skills.
Thanks,
j.

"Suwinthawong/Rom Klao"
yesterday evening -> rom klao completely dry, no water on the road. suwinthawong was unchanged -> water.
-
i´d be flooded all the time, even at +0 meters...i´r really looking for a map which shows realistic pics. guess i´m not the only one.
wish everyone dry feet or the night, even if the water´s right under u.
-
rom klao was completely dry today early evening, from ring to ramkamhaeng.
-
minburi (off ram) seems to expect 1 - 1.5 meters. that would still be ok. i doubt a little if that´s a real figure...
-
maybe you don´t have to go far at all, if it continues the way it seems to... :/
it´s crazy not getting a realistic pic where the water actually is now.
-
money into your pocket?
i do hope there is a little shame left.

"european/dutch"
there is swiss school bkk with their english program for european education, but they might be a little over your budget as well.
hope you find a good school.

depends where you live - i live near minburi and the supermarket was kind of getting empty yesterday - really got the last 1 litre-bottles of water, the bigger ones were _all_ gone...no mineral water left, only the normal drinking water. whoa!
empty shelves as well for many cans & mama soups, beer as well.
maybe you should get some batteries/candles in case of electricity failure as well. don´t forget sandbags, although they are sold out at most places.
i´m actually moving everything possible up to the second floor- can´t harm but it´s one h*ll of a job...

"My advice to anyone, is to stay away from this place and carefully consider the standards of these types of so-called International hospitals, which on the face of things show a smart and attractive facade, but in reality still lack proper standards"
Exactly this is the point - regardless to what hospital it is. But these things happen all over the world :/ Just be careful out there and think for yourself!

Dear all,
I´m a little frustrated - my hubby with a chronic skin history (psoriasis) has some kind of another *hellofanitching* rash for months and has been to docs in Samitivej & Bumrungrad.
All three docs tell the same: avoid sweating, do not use soap while showering, take these atarax (they kill the symptoms, but do not cure) and - sorry - repeat all the things every sensible human with a skin history has known for centuries.
Proper diagnostics (like taking a sample, blood test) have not been done, he was told to wait for one month (*yesthisistrue!*) and then take a full physical, after that an allergy test (do I see some Dollar signs here?). The Bumrungrad doc even kind of accused him being a "hospital hopper" because he told her that he had seen a doc at another hospital before *yesthisisstilltrue*
We´re really losing our confidence quite fast - if there is any place or -one you can recommend, highly appreciated.
Thanks and wishing u all an itch-free weekend

try the saturday evening/night flea market in chinatown (flashlight market). it has _everything_.

i´m sure the hospital can recommend good quality wig stores. those in platinum etc. are not necessarily of a quality to wear them permanently.
maybe she´d appreciate some scarfs as well - wigs are _hot_ (yes, i had chemotherapy in the summer...)
it takes a couple of weeks until the hair falls off, so she has time to look for a fitting wig.
i wish her all the best.

i´d keep his german, because everyone speaks english and it will be a huge profit for him later in life. just be sure there is enough german lessons, 1-2 lessons in the afternoon per week will not get him on the proficiency level.

can recommend mermaid as well. my daughter did her ow partly in bkk and we were absolutely happy with the great instructors.
