  1. my advice as well: go to chatuchak, there are some quite professional reptile shops...we bought our snake from there. not all the shops are open every day, so sat/sun would be the best possibililty for you, or if you have their contact details and call they´ll open the shop for you during the week as well.

i can´t find the card right now, otherwise i would have recommended ours. but believe me: there are many.

only about the export certificate i´m not sure.

  2. "99% of the taxis will not drive on a meter."

we never had a problem from silom / lumphini...

don´t forget some dry extra clothing for the taxi ride, although - we always put ours in two plastic bags and then a backpack.

and the ziplocs are not 100% waterproof - i ruined my mobile last year despite of ziplock. better leave expensive mobiles at home and take your dinosaur model instead ;O)

    i can´t wait :o)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  3. you get it at murrah café (left side, about 50 meters after swiss corner) in moobaan sammakorn, ramkamhaeng soi 112. really tasty and not made out of cows´ milk.

don´t buy it at villa market, yo´ll pay at least double...i had a laughing fit seeing the price!

has good buffalo yoghurt (non-sweetened), ricotta...as well.

  4. siam park - pls be really careful. i had exactly one ride there and would never ever dare to do that again. we had two _very_ close calls there...and yes, the food section is absolutely sub-standard.

btw, there is a water park on top of mall bangkapi as well.

  5. no, it´s not a joke - my son got of age this week and would, of course, like to drive here legally.

i do know of the dangers, so no need on that ;O)

has anyone done his driver´s lisence here from the beginning on? of course we´ll train our son ourselves as well, but does a driving school make sense or is it a waste of time and money? any recommendations? english is a must...

all the paperwork is ok with the yearly non-imm-visa status etc.

thanks a lot - in the motor forum i only find about how to turn an intl lisence into a thai, but this is (almost) a from-square-zero-thing :o

  6. hi you all-knowing folks,

i am looking for a christmas tree - a _real_ one, not our plastic one.

can you get one in bkk? or even a similar one, i´m happy to plant it in the garden (afterwards) if needed...

    thanks a lot :o))

  7. i didn´t read through all the answers, so pls excuse me if i am writing something thats already there - but the big bonus package has, if i remember correctly, this glass boat thing included (it´s an absolute waste of money, though).

for those of you who are going there more often: the yearly membership is really worth the money, last time it was around 2000 baht minus some discount & lots of vouchers for the 4-d-cinema.

and yes, i do not like the double pricing, wherever it is.

  8. beautiful kitten, 9 weeks old, looking for a new home & loving caretakers

she is vaccinated & checked as 100% healthy by our vet. she knows how to use the cat toilet, and simply loves to play with kids (and adults :o

    400_3236366664623961.jpg

she looks a little like a siamese, but is a common mixed breed :D

we live in the bangkok area, in case you are interested, pls p-mail me :D

  9. hi,

i don´t know anyone having a medical pet insurance here, because the vets are _so_ chaep. i don´t know about the canadian prices, but compared to central europe the vet costs are almost nonexistent. the sterliziation of my cat was around 16 euros, in germany i wouldn´t even have had anesthesia for it...

  10. about the lactos free milk:

"Probably the most common (almost any major grocery store) is soy milk, which is widely used in Asian countries, because of some Asians' difficulty in digesting lactose"

pls be careful, very many of the soy milks have cow milk in them as well, mostly around 5%...read the (thai) ingredients list before having a bad surprise ;/

at least the rice milk "v-fit" ist lactose free.
