  1. We're talking about the correct transliteration of course.
  2. Anyway, the minimum age for the retirement visa in Thailand is 50, so they do recognize the fact that people can retire at an earlier age than the normal 65.
  3. There is an elite visa for young and wealthy retirees.
  4. Exactly. That's why the correct spelling should be with "n". In the same way as "ch" is replaced with "t" in the middle of the word.
  5. That's why you shouldn't use a bank transfer for payment. Very hard to get money back in case of mistake. Credit cards give you more protection.
  6. Once and for all: Of the major banks, only Bangkok bank opens accounts for tourists. Period. All the other talks are irrelevant.
  7. And a Non-imm visa? ????
  8. It's not luck. Before Krungsri was okay with tourist visas, but not anymore.
  9. Give up on Krungsri. They will all tell you the same thing. Just a year ago all the branches were okay with tourist visas, but now the rules are different.
  10. Without a work permit doesn't mean with a tourist visa. People open accounts with Non-imm visas without a work permit.
  11. Years ago everything was different. I opened an account with Krungsri on a tourist visa, but now the rules have changed.
  12. Don't need to try every branch. Just call the call center and ask about the official requirements. Tourist visas are not allowed. Of course you may try branch shopping in hope of finding an incompetent manager who doesn't know their own bank regulations. Good luck on that.
  13. Krungsri and Kasikorn don't open accounts with tourist visas. That's their official policy now.
  14. Bangkok bank is the only one that opens accounts for people with tourist visas. All the others seem to require a work permit or at least some kind of Non-immigrant visa.
  15. Does any of the Thai banks provide foreign currency accounts with the ability to use a mobile app? The banks I talked with told me that a mobile app is not available for foreign currency accounts. Withdrawals and transfers can be made only at the branch. Additionally, if you get a debit card for a foreign currency account, it can be used only inside Thailand.
