  1. Hello, I'm interested in 6 month insurance for my healthy 1 month old baby. - any suggestions would be much appreciated bearing in mind the following: - i only need 6 months as we'll be moving overseas in 6 months - parents are already covered - I'm unsure if it's sensible to insure for in and outpatient (we have been paying small outpatient visits are selves and it's not too expensive). Any information / estimated price ranges / recommended package types etc. Much appreciated. Kind regards, Joe
  2. Hello, I'm applying for a British passport for my newborn in Bangkok next week. The forms and photo need to be countersigned by a British person, it says "who lives in the UK", but I'm hoping to use an 'upstanding' Brit who is based in Bangkok. would this be okay? Anyway, any help on this much appreciated. Jooe
  3. Hello, Two questions, 1. I'm planning to move to the UK with Thai wife and baby (due in October), in about 10 months. Other than the £60K+ in bank my UK bank account for over 6 months, are there any other requirements I should be preparing now or any general information on the process? 2. I am expecting a 1st child in October (in Bangkok), with my Thai spouse. I will of course want to obtain a UK passport for baby asap. Does anyone have a list of doc/requirements I need? - I am returning to the UK next week, and will get copies of my and my parents' birth certificates, but any other information would be extremely handy! Any help much appreciated! Joe
  4. Hello, I'm going to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage this Friday, I just have a couple of questions regarding the checklist/documents etc. : 1. I am currently on a non-o 90 day visiting wife visa, which expires June 24th. Is this adequate time to apply for the extension of stay this Friday? (e.g. over 2 weeks) ? 2. Can I use the same photographs as last year, of my wife and I outside our property and around our house? 3. Is it possible to obtain the letter from the bank stating I have 400K in the bank, on Thursday and apply on Friday? (I wouldn't normally but we will be very tight for time on Friday, and the bank takes several hours to get the letter from head office). 4. the proof of address is my father in-laws house, of which my wife is also named on the Tabien. Is a copy of his ID card, and all pages of the Tabien enough for proof of address? (or is some signed letter required) Thank you very much, Joe
  5. Ah yes it may be worth it if it's just 1000baht reentry. I plan to be in the UK for appx 2 weeks, but I have go again a month later in September. But still seems worth it overall. (I just get put off by the 1000baht home visit bribe they try and pressure every year)! Is it possible to obtain the 1 year marriage extension any time before my current visa expires, or do I have to apply say 30days before my current visa expires? Thank you very much!
  6. Hello, I am currently on a 90 day non-o (visiting wife) visa, which I obtained from the UK, that expires on June 24th. I actually need to return to the UK for a month some time between July 24-27th. Is there a way I can extend the 90 day non-o visa here in Thailand, for say another 60 days (or 30,90)? Without having to obtain a 1 year marriage extension visa ? (i.e. avoid half the forms and the tedious home visit) ( Reasons: - Although I meet the requirements for the marriage extension (400k in bank etc.), I really hate the process. Every time they demand 1000baht to "book an appointment" for the home visit, my wife has to take a day off work for it, and last time it ended in a big argument - they eventually backed down, but said they won't say exactly when they're coming as I didn't pay the bribe... - If I can obtain another 90 day non-o in the UK I think it would work out cheaper or roughly the same as paying for a re-entry permit for my marriage extension, and the marriage extension visa etc.... - my wife's pregnant and I don't want to drag her to the immigration and "home visit" if I can help it!) Or any other suggestions would be great! Thank you, I REALLY appreciate this forum, Joe
  7. Hello, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for hotels for the Thai Pass quarantine package (bkk airport, pcr and hotel 1 night), that include free cancellation and are fairly budget friendly? It seems that the prices range from about 3900 and up, I suppose this is normal? Is Agoda the main company to search through? Any pointers on the above points much appreciated, (and apologies that I'm sure this is a very common question that clutters up the forum!!)
  8. Thank you very much, Just a couple of queries (sorry for my incompetence) : 1. so in theory, I could get both a reentry permit, and a 60 day extension in one visit to immigration in Thailand? (before I leave for the UK) extended my possible leave another 60 days? 2. Do I have to apply for a 1 year marriage extension a certain time before my visa expires (e.g. 2 weeks before it expires) or can I apply in the last few days? thank you
  9. Hello, In short: I am currently in Bangkok. I have previously been on marriage extension visas for a couple of years, however this time I returned on a visa exempt and have successfully swapped to a non-O "90 day visiting wife visa" (expiring March 18th). The plan was to then swap to standard marriage extension visa here in Thailand (following forum advice, Thanks!!). However, I now have to return to the UK mid-February for approximately 3 weeks. so I just want to double check my best course of action. - I assume my current 'visiting wife visa' is not multiple entry so that will expire when I leave. - I have the funds in my Thai bank, and other requirements for marriage extension (however I would prefer to obtain it when I return, rather than rushing to get it and a reentry permit before I leave mid-feb). - So I believe that my best course of action would be to apply for a "Non-Immigrant Type O (Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days) - single entry only)" from the UK embassy as soon as I arrive in the UK (and then swap to a marriage extension when I return to Thailand in March. Is this the best course of action? (and are there any problems with this plan? Many thanks, Joe
  10. Thank you, Jack. I got married in Thailand, (hopefully won't have to show the not already married affirmation doc as UbonJoe states, but I think I have a copy of it somewhere anyway, Thanks for the answers.
  11. Hello, (I plan to change from my extended visa exempt visa to a non-o visiting wife visa next week - with well over 15 days remaining on my exempt). I am just looking over the requirements pdf that was kindly supplied to me and have a couple of queries: 1. "5.1 Incase the applicant’s spouse is a Thai citizen, please show: A copy national ID card, a copy of house registration papers, a copy of employee’s or government officer’s ID card." The end requirement "copy of employee's or gov official's ID card" - does this mean my wife has to copy her boss' ID card? 2. 6.1.2 Marriage certificate (Kor Ror. 3) - I am very familiar with obtaining a Kor Ror 2, but I'm unsure I have obtained a Kor Lor 3 before, can this be obtained at the same time as the Kor Ror 2 ? 3. 6.1.3 A copy of letter certifying marital status before registration of marriage (a copy of letter certifying that the applicant is single) (In absence of such letter, a copy thereof can be obtained from the District Office where the marriage was registered.) I also think I am unfamiliar with this document - I have 4 previous marriage visas/extensions in my passport and don't think I have seen this document before (although I have various Thai documents in my marriage folder), so any general advice on this point would be helpful. Thank you very much, Joe
  12. Great thank you, Joe! Just a couple of following questions: - Can I get a visa exempt 30 day extension from any immigration office ? (my marriage cert is registered to Pathum Thani immigration office, but it is much closer for me to go to the main Bangkok office (government complex) - and will I get 30 days from the day I apply or the day my visa expires? Thanks again!
  13. Hello, I had to leave Thailand in a hurry and did not get a reentry permit (for the one year Marriage extension visa I was on), so I am now half way through a 30 day Thai tourist visa and fretting about my general visa predicament. I am hoping that I will be able to apply/move over to a "visiting wife 60 day extension" end of next week to get me onto Non-O so I can then apply for another Marriage visa after the 60 days - I have just transferred 400K so although cutting it fairly fine, I will have the funds for 2 months if I apply at the end of the visiting wife extension in about 67 days time. Anyway, I have a couple of questions that I would greatly appreciate any answers for: 1. Is there anything wrong/incorrect about this plan (and if so any other options)? 2. Is the visa called "visiting wife visa" ? 3. I plan to bring with me for the application next week: - My wife - Wife's ID / Wife's house booklet - Kor Lor 2 cert - TM7 for X2 + passport photos - Visa Fee - Passport / arrival card X copies of - Map ? and photos around the hosue? (I will try to get my wife to call them and ask what the require, but it's hard to get through to them...) 4. Any other points I am overlooking? Very much appreciate all of your help as usual, this forum really is a life safer! kr, Joe.
  14. I am double vaccinated and planning to fly from BKK to Krabi next week. Do I need any other tests/documents (like pcr or ATK), Any information on this much appreciated
  15. I think it is running much smoother, but a friendly nudge might help: I just emailed the support tp consular email address and they emailed back my approved Thai pass QR within minutes... So I would recommend giving them a friendly nudge. A few pointers from my experience: - I used NHS vaccine pass (make sure it has not expired, and used the most recently generated one, I sent full pass and cropped qr codes) - I used hotel's booking confirmation pdf (to jpg) that they emailed to me, but I'm sure the pdf receipt on agoda is fine... - I submitted about 4 different applications, they used the most recent one to approve. - I fly on 11th Nov Sorry to all those who had to change/cancel their flights, hope it's running much better now..
