  1. A factory reset of a 3BB router should not be done unless you know in advance the WAN username and password that the router uses to connect to 3BB which can be found on the receipt from 3BB the technicians should give you.
  2. Today I noticed that when searching on Lazada the checkbox on the left to show items in Thailand only has disappeared. If I change the language to Thai the option is still there. I hope its not a permanent change I always use that filter for general shopping.
  3. If over 10,000 is unforgivable, what about these? Here is only a very small sampling of major data breaches. Companies that probably spend in the 10s of millions of dollars on security can't protect your data: Yahoo! Number of records hacked: up to 3 billion Announced: September and December 2016 River City Media Number of records hacked: 1.37 billion Announced: March 2017 Veeam Number of records hacked: 445 million Announced: September 2018 Marriott (Starwood) Number of records hacked: 383 million Announced: November 2018 Exactis Number of records hacked: 340 million Announced: June 2018
  4. Step number 2 ask Uncle Google, no need to re-invent the wheel.
  5. Today I decided to geek out some so downloaded the ISO and installed it as a Hyper-V guest. Creating the virtual machine went smoothly and after Windows 11 updated itself I ended up with the same version as you. After the Windows 11 guest finished updating itself I disabled automatic updates using Group Policy. In advanced system settings on the Visual Effects tab I selected 'Adjust for best performance' which made the Win 11 virtual machine a bit more zippy, before changing that setting I felt there had been a slight delay when clicking items and now the processor has settled down nicely too. I'm not sure if these changes were necessary maybe I didn't give the operating system enough time to settle in after it updated itself. I renamed the Win 11 virtual guest to a user friendly name and enabled remote desktop connections. Now I connect to the guest from the Win 10 host using Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) and the user friendly computer name I gave it. I saved the RDP settings to the desktop for easy connections later. Now I can start the guest in the Hyper-V management console and once its running the management console can be closed, the guest will continue running. Then I use the saved RDP shortcut to connect to the guest machine. A bit more advanced you can create and save a PowerShell script to start a Hyper-V guest so you don't even need to open the management console, just click the script and the virtual machine fires up then click your saved RDP shortcut and you're using the guest more or less like it is the host machine.
  6. Did a transfer this morning from my Wise Borderless account. Nothing new, same as it ever was. I'm a US citizen.
  7. If your visit to the bank is for the account verification letter have you thought about visiting a local branch of your bank the day before to get the letter? Then you could get an earlier start and arrive at Immigration before it opens and may be be one of the first helped. Possibly all done by 9:30.
  8. That makes sense that it was records for 10,000 patients. The linked Sanook Thai article in the OP says 146 files or 16 million items were accessed not 16 million people. And no mention of Covid in any news article, Thai or English, only the headline here on aseannow. Hmmm.
  9. I agree with what you say with the exception of the part about "little noise" I think there would be more than enough noise to wake us up if someone tried coming in at night through our typical cheap window bars but then we have a small home. On a larger home if using the same bars it would definitely be possible to get in without waking people up, so use a beefier set up where needed. I don't think window bars should be too quickly dismissed. I think at least a couple of posters mentioned their wives wanted window bars and for good reason. Like any security a layered approach is needed. Our first layer is a couple of dogs.
  10. I haven't tried to install Windows 11 yet myself. You should be able to use if for 30 days with an occasional nag after that it may just disable some features. I run a a Win 7 VM that I never activated and it still works I think it won't allow me to customize the desktop now small things like that but I can still install and test software which is why I created the VM. You definitely don't want to use your current Windows 10 key. Wait until you're satisfied with Windows 11 and I think it will be a free upgrade for your Windows 10 if your computer meets the requirements. It will work in a Hyper-V machine on a computer that otherwise doesn't have the necessary requirements because it creates the necessary requirements virtually.
  11. In the linked Sanook and Thai PBS articles it said files were for patients. Not a single mention of Covid.
  12. Maybe dodgy ones will be closed down but I believe there are legitimate agents that because of their contacts can get things done without breaking any laws. It is my understanding (unconfirmed) that whether or not to grant an extension is up to the IO. They have their guidelines to follow but they can be flexible without breaking the law.
  13. We leave our screened windows open in every room, including bedroom, 24 hours a day. Our window bars could easily be defeated but it would make so much noise that it would surely wake us. And during the day if we weren't home it would attract neighbors attention if someone tried entering through a window. A previous poster suggested CCTV as his solution but that is maybe only helpful after a crime has been committed and is unlikely to stop a yaabaa addict from entering a home via a window without bars. And theft is a secondary concern for wives if a drug crazed guy gets into the house during the night especially if she is alone. Odds of getting trapped by window bars during a fire are very slim, having a guy on drugs coming in uninvited is far more common.
  14. This looks like a good tutorial for installing Windows 11 as a Hyper-V guest. https://winaero.com/how-to-install-windows-11-in-virtual-machine-on-hyper-v/ Once Windows 11 is installed use RDP to connect to it from the host machine. RDP provides a better experience, easier to copy files back and forth. I'll be curious to hear how it works out for you as a Hyper-V guest.
  15. If your Windows 10 is the pro version you could enable the Hyper-V feature and install Windows 11 as a virtual machine.
  16. I pre-registered with ThailandIntervac.com I've been checking my status daily and finally this evening it gave me the time and location of 1st (Sept.12) and 2nd (Oct.3) Pfizer jabs along with a registration number. So far I haven't received any email or SMS confirmation so if anyone is waiting on that you might want to check your status online: https://it-nurse.bkn.co.th/checkstatus.php
  17. OK I understand what you were asking now. When you said new office I thought you meant the current office which is a relatively new location. The future location suits me as I live to the north of Khon Kaen but I feel for MartinL, the current location at the bus station is far better for those to the south.
  18. The one at the bus station? The video in the link I posted above says that office is temporary: สำนักงานตรจคนเข้าเมืองชั่วคราว (Temporary Immigration Office)
  19. That tower has a sinister look about it for sure. It looks a lot bigger driving by it than it does in the video.
  20. Just came across a video on the Khon Kaen Immigration site that says the current location at the bus station is temporary and the new location will be north of Khon Kaen on Mittraphap at Tambon Non Thon (ตำบลโนนท่อน). I'd been curious what that big tower under construction will be used for, I still don't know but its part of the project. Strange they didn't just remain in the old location at the police academy until the new place was built. At about 1 min it talks about the current location as temporary then shows the new location under construction. https://khonkaen.immigration.go.th
  21. Don't worry you won't lock yourself out, just be sure not to take ownership of a folder if the current owner isn't you to begin with. Its possible some process has a hook in those files blocking your access and a restart may free them up if you haven't already done that.
  22. Are you able to move or at least copy those jpgs to another folder? If so create a folder on your desktop and move the files there. The permissions of your new folder should propagate to the files and folders within. If the files can't be moved or copied you can take ownership of the files. Don't mess with security settings at the C:\Users folder! Dig down to a single folder with problem files within your own profile. Take ownership: Even if it shows your name as owner at the top of the advanced security settings window of the folder go through the steps of taking ownership by clicking 'Change' and choosing your profile name in the dialog that opens. After choosing your name and clicking ok to close that dialog you'll see 'Replace owner on subcontainers and objects' is now available in the advanced security settings window, select that and apply. See if you can now view the files. If the files still won't open or allow access to read their properties: on the folder you just took ownership of go to the advanced security settings window and select 'Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object' and apply.
  23. The possibility no one was agreeing with me on this topic doesn't surprise me at all. That's usually the case when I bother to post in the news forums, usually in defense of the Thai. The popularity contest here is won by the relentless bashers of the Thai. They don't even bother with any kind of critical thinking or fact checking, they just start dishing out the insults. And the news translations are often done in such a way as to add more fuel to the fire. It really is a sad situation and one that ThaiVisa/AseanNow is famously infamous for. I usually refrain from commenting in the news forums because of these things but when I saw your unnecessary and ultimately incorrect post insulting to Thais and their lack of English skills, in what should have been a harmless news article, I got the masochistic urge to post. BTW the answer to my hypothetical question is the woman will take an empty seat next to another Thai woman of course. Second choice would be next to a Thai man (provided he didn't look to sketchy) last choice would be next to a farang. Its cultural and nothing to do with lack of English skills. The same woman even if fluent in English would be reluctant to sit next to a farang stranger as well. Goes for Thai men too, but its a toss up if they'll sit next to another Thai male before a Thai female but the farang will be the last option. My final post on this topic. Have a nice day. KeeTua
  24. English as an international language is not something I'd disagree with but that English is a universal language, as you stated, is completely incorrect, there is a very distinct difference between the two. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_language What does my nationality have to do with asking you to back up your statement even partially? Looks like a failed attempt at deflection. Your earlier post which is just false (to put it nicely): "Common in Thailand, where the locals are terrified that you might start to talk with them in English if they sit next to you and they'll lose face by not understanding the universal language.."
