I work with autistic children and it does sound highly probable he is somewhere on the autistic spectrum. Contacting a local doctor or hospital sounds like some good advice to try and get the support that he needs

When I got married my husbands family did pay sinsod, they were quite a poor family but had made a real effort with lots of nice jewellery and some money. I wanted to give them it all back after the wedding as they really would have benefited more from it than me. In the end I kept a gold necklace and we persuaded them to keep the rest

I am a female, was married to a Thai for 5 years and had a child together. Now with another Thai and expecting a child together

Driving my car a while back in the UK with my Thai ex husband in the car, came across an accident that had just happened, 2 cars had hit head on. I got out to help, phone an ambulance etc., my ex wanted me to keep driving, couldn't understand why I would want to get involved

Thanks Dr Robert, that's a great list, some good ideas on there.
And Chris, they will only have one name so I'm considering first names and nicknames

I'm expecting my second child in April, the father is Thai and I would like some suggestions of first names, possibly of Thai origin. They will have a long Thai surname so not wanting anything that is too much of a mouthful. Hoping to find out the sex in a few weeks. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Not been for over ten years but thought it was ok, pretty quiet. The beach we went to wasn't the best and after paddling we came out with a mysterious black tarry/oily substance on our feet. It's nice for a change, even a 7 11 there now well they do get everywhere!

What happened to the owner or the place you're talking about, a Scottish bloke? I used to be quite friendly with him a few years back

There's lots for kids in pattaya. The big shopping malls have some good options. Royal garden has ripleys believe is or not, a 4d cinema, waxworks and other fun things. Central shopping mall next to Hilton has a kids entertainment place upstairs, some rides, a soft play, there's also a 4d cinema and amusements in Mario land. Pattaya park water park is quite good, although it's getting a bit run down. There's some slides and a river rapid which my son loves. A trip up to see the big Buddha and the viewpoint is also fun. Further out of pattaya is the underwater world, million years park which is a zoo and nong nooch gardens. They're building a new water park further down the Sukhumvit, not sure when it opens. It looks pretty impressive tho when we passed last month, it's based on cartoon network. So, plenty for kids in pattaya, it's not all about the sex industry. I've been bringing my son annually since he was born and he's 8 now. Not so sure about hotels to suggest, we always stay on the beach road as it's nice and central.

I taught in Thailand for several years about ten years ago. I was in an office with about twelve other UK teachers. We all ended up having relationships with Thais, apart from one guy who favoured go go bars and wasn't after a relationship. Some of our other halves spoke good English and others didn't, the farang then learnt Thai, quite often to a very fluent level. Six of us got married and four couples subsequently divorced. Two of the original teachers still live in Thailand, the go go lover and one in a committed relationship. The Thai's we were in relationships with were not bar girls or bar boys just your usual run of the mill Thais. It maybe depends a lot on where you go and who your friends are to what kind of Thai people you meet.
It was a great experience though, don't be put off by all the talk of bar girls etc, it's there if you want it but also easy enough to stay away from too

My Thai ex-husband was convinced this had happened to his brother. The family only discovered he had died several months after but the main thinking behind it was that the brother had been able to sign himself into hospital after a motorbike accident. Therefore, not suffering from any life threatening injuries. No family came for him and he 'died' several days later. This led the family to believe he had been targeted for organs/corneas but who knows. I certainly wouldn't like to be left alone in a Thai hospital.

Being nice or trying to keep things on a friendship level are never going to work. Any kind of communication with her will give her the idea that there is some hope in saving the relationship. I'd imagine that she will cause some hassle and it could go on for a while. Ultimately though she will one day get over it, could be a long time though. For your own safety and to make things easier, it would be ideal if you could disappear for a while. However, if she knows you are coming back then she will wait. Getting the bib involved is a good idea as it is possible that it might scare a bit of sense into her.
I hope that whatever you decide it works out for you, just remember don't give her any hope or she will never leave you alone

So glad I spent the last 2 weeks swimming at tub tim beach now!
-
I've been on samet the last couple of weeks, starting yesterday noticed a lot of bubbles in the water near tub Tim, looks like the kind of bubbles from detergent. Not sure if it might be the chemicals used to disperse the oil? Also did the slow boat to ban phe yesterday and saw a lot of the same kind of thing, big patches of bubbles across the surface of the sea.

My son had his bcg vaccination before we came over when he was 7 months. As for mosquitos, got a small net that I put over the pram if we were somewhere there's a lot. Used to hate getting a taxi if there were no belts, usually one in the front tho so I'd just put him in the front and pray til it was over! Bought a small parasol and fan which attached to the pram which were great too

There's a police station opposite the pier, always used to leave mine in the car park at the back, no problems or there's a car park at the pier you can pay to use

Chinese tourist stung by Australian box jellyfish near Koh Samet
in Eastern Thailand
Posted
My son was stung by a jellyfish off a beach in koh samet a couple of months ago. There seemed to be lots of small clear jellyfish in the sea. The Thai staff had a remedy for the sting of some kind of plant found beside the sea
