  1. Well, let's be honest, we don't really know who we're talking to on here, which is part of the attraction of forums like this. But agents could also be hanging out here creating anxiety to make you think you need to pay like 5,000 baht in order to get in the country. I'm sure most people are just trying to be helpful, and looking after your best interests
  2. By the way, I had no problem either getting on the plane (they didn't ask to see onward ticket, only if I had a visa. I said it's visa exempt.) When I arrived at immigration I was asked no question at all. Sometimes I wonder if there are agents here lurking trying to create insecurity?
  3. Hi, thanks for the referral to Priceline. I booked with them and the ticket I booked had 45 hours to cancel and seek a refund. The airline did not end up asking for it, amazingly. I just clicked through to get a refund and seemingly it will work.
  4. Thanks, sounds like there are several options. Just for others' info, I also found that Sky Angkor Air has a medium fare flight to Cambodia that can be refunded for $20, only $10 more than "book onward flight" and its a real ticket. They also seem to claim that if you request a refund before 23:59 the day of booking then it will be refunded without any fee.
  5. OK, so Priceline can be refunded in 24 hours. Is it an easy process? Do you have to call or is it an online form? Not really easy to handle when your actual flight is also nearly 24 hours! Is Delta easy to refund?- i.e. how do you do it?
  6. I've used it a few times for immigration and in those cases it was not asked for. For some reason in Asia they rarely seem concerned about onward tickets but it has come up on check in for some long haul flights.
  7. Hi, do you have a contact for SR services? I see SR consulting services online, as well as a Facebook page for SR services, but the facebook page is locked to the public. Not sure if SR services and SR consulting services is the same. Thanks!
  8. Thank you. I am looking at the onward ticket requirement which the airline will probably scrutinize even if immigration doesn't. I recently used "bookonwardticket" which on further inspection was actually just a reservation, not an actual ticket. I don't think the airline will fall for this. I could use the rule that you can get a refund on a ticket to the US, if you cancel it within 24 hours. But 24 hours is a pretty short time to cancel a flight when you have a major flight to make. There are also bus tickets to Cambodia you can buy in advance but am not sure if the airlines will accept this. Anyone have ideas for this requirement? The airlines can actually be quite difficult on this.
  9. Thanks for your reply. There was a comment on a different forum/platform where they said if you pay something to get into like a VIP lane at immigration at the airport (can't remember what it was called) then you'll have no problem. They also said it's better to go to a male immigration officer as the female ones are often trying to prove themselves. I actually neglected to bring all the Thai Baht when I left. Can other currencies be used in place of Thai baht?
  10. All right, now on to my visa exemption. I went with an agent to get an exemption at the end of last year. Hadn't used all of it and had to fly out and now will return by flight in a few days. Will I have difficulty with immigration at the airport? I guess no one really knows?
  11. A few pages back, someone said to check your stamp into Thailand to make sure they give you 60 days. Sometimes they may give you 30 days by accident.
  12. All right, thanks again for all of your advice. It is already in motion, she is getting all of this ready. I hope everything will work out well.
  13. I won't be here as I have to leave the country (more on my visa exmeption issue later ; ) ) but we have a helper who may be able to help out. We were actually planning to leave Thailand by going overland because we want to live somewhere right on the Thai border, and its out of the way to fly in. Although flying is a possibility. Apprecaite your thought about the visa agent. If they go to Laos to wait two nights, based on previously having two VEs already, do you think they will have any problem on re-entry?
  14. I was in contact with another person who posted on Reddit. They said they were asked for the same thing. Maybe don't need TM30 specifically but need proof of having a place to stay.
  15. Can anyone advise or provide their input. My wife and two children are coming up to the end of their extension from a visa exemption (VE). Now they are on their second consecutive VE. After the previous one they went to Huay Xai and spent two days on the other side, came back with no problem, only asked for TM30. Actually we are planning to leave Thailand soon, but may need a few more days since our rental is til the end of the month and need time to pack, make some arrangements, etc. Our options are: -They try to go to the Huay Xai border and cross back over by themselves. Try to cover all the usual things like having cash, having TM 30, having a flight out, etc., and hope for the best. We heard from an agent that people are allowed 2 land crossings VE per calendar year, but of course also that it's up to the Immigration officer on duty and they may give you a hard time or reject you outright. -We go with an agent to the border. They seem to have arranged it all but it's very expensive. Like 12,000 baht for same day. -They could overstay for 8-9 days. I read somewhere that they don't charge overstay for children. If that's true, it would be 4-5,000. I have no idea how this can affect you in the future if they see that you have an overstay on your record. Can anyone advise on which one is the best? Especially if they may have any problems returning to get a third VE, or what are the pitfalls of overstaying? Thanks for your help
  16. Looking for some information from people who live there.
  17. So now you can do more than two per year at a land border? Does the beginning of the new year make any difference?
  18. I was asking agents about visa exemptions earlier today and the first thing they asked me was how many times I had a visa exemption via land crossing this year. They seemed to this you couldn't get more than two. Also, they seemed to think once 2025 rolls in, you'll be starting over at zero. I.e. even if you've been in Thailand on visa exemptions in 2024, they will start letting you in again in 2025 as if you had not been here. This is all new to me and seems confusing
  19. Thanks! It worked no problem
  20. OK, it looks like the model number is MW70VK. Are you saying that the mobile network that distributed it is the one that put a lock on it? When I log in to the Alcatel router software it shows the logo of the mobile phone company.
  21. Great, thank you! Let me check the model number and I will get back to you. It looks similar to the one in the Ebay link that you sent but maybe a little earlier.
  22. Hi, I have an Alcatel Wi-Fi puck type router that I brought from another country. I thought it would be nice to try to use it to have my own connection. I took my DTAC SIM which I'm not using and put it in there. I'm able to connect to the WiFi connection but there is no internet. When I log in to the Alcatel router software, it says that the SIM is locked and it say it wants a 10 digit SIM lock code. I tried the 10 digit phone number but that didn't work. The PUK is 8 digits. Anyone have any idea what this is? Maybe the Alcatel puck is only configured to work in a foreign country where they have these 10 lock codes?
  23. Hi, thanks! I will check with a border bounce minivan company and then make a decision about which option to pursue.
  24. H, thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay in replying. So if I do a visa run with the agent, does that pretty much guarantee a re-entry? Because I've heard form various sources that it gets harder and harder to get in on a visa exemption. I'm on my third visa exemption (although the first one was just for a few hours), so it seems impossible if I try to do it as normal. So you don't see the benefit of a SETV because it's not really any different than the visa exemption? Alternatively if you get the non-O retirement you get three months. You can with draw the 800k if you don't intend to apply for the 12 month extension. But if you want the 12 month extension, you need to keep the full amount in the bank?
  25. So I'm getting down to a last few weeks on my visa exemption and need to make a decision. Am just wondering if getting a tourist visa is an option for me? Would having used several visa exemptions reduce my chances of getting a tourist visa? The disadvantage of the Non-O retirement is of course that you have to plunk 800k in the bank.
