  1. They have been asking recently but not normally if you have a visa prior to arrival.

One way of doing it is to use an old e ticket or checkmytrip.com print out and photshop it, they don't have the ability to check it anyway.

    Trust me, it works.

As far as I know, I'm not able to get a visa from the thai embassy here in Denmark unless I have a return ticket too. So don't think it's possible for me to have a visa prior to arrival.

So a fake return e-ticket is the way to go?

Well, it's up to you, but it does work and you can always BS your way through, they rarely seem to ask though it seems to be quite random. Most of the immigration officers wouldn't be able to understand an itinerary anyway.

  3. Gee, and I was under the impression that these guys with the whistles were highly trained parking technicians. Thanks, I'll start using the mirrors and my eyes!

Thais aren't prepared for many things, except to eat and sleep, you were honestly surprised???

When I park in Thailand, the last thing I pay attention to are those annoying little oiks with the whistles.

I was in a shop in MBK ground floor 3 days ago and could see to the back and one of the staff was doing drugs with a coke bottle bong. Nothing surprises me here anymore.

  4. This happens a lot. The UK always give you the "Can' track it after it leaves our shores" line. You always take a chance with post and paying extra for signatures etc are a waste of time in Thailand. Even EMS is crap here.

If it is of any value or urgency now I use UPS, the service is worth the extra money (to me anyway).

The UK postal service is just as bad as the Thai one, a joke at best. Can't say too much about it because it drives me into a rage.

  5. Thank god I live in the city

A Thai friend once told me they wouldn't kill snakes because they believe they will come back and eat your babies.....

This from an "educated" Bangkok family too.....scary, I would favour the lump of wood myself, blody horrible creatures, ugh!

  6. Bangkok suits at the moment due to very frequent overseas travel, if I think about buying that's a different story, nowhere seems to have it all. Bangkok is a little too busy but has all the mod cons as I am a westerner who couldn't bear "going native". I like to stay in the country sometimes but couldn't last more than a week in that kind of environment.

Maybe somewhere similar to Chiang Mai but that seems to be a bit of a non place, I don't know why but although OK to visit it doesn't seem to have much personality IMHO.

Pattaya would be madness, my friends have lived there for years and despite security shutters and safes etc. the thievery is getting too commonplace (and they live in a nice area allegedly).

If someone has found paradise here I would like to know, but then again, if I had found it I would keep quiet about it.

  7. Does anyone have any personal experience of hotels that are not more than 10 mins walk from BTS or MRT and not too expensive to use as a base whilst in Bangkok. Doesn't need to be too central, but don't really want a crappy area as the people coming are a bit older.

  8. I should just clear up that of course I state my address on the arrival card, but this was a check in girl in the states.

She said, have you got anything to say that you live in Thailand? I replied, In addition to the Visa? Oh yeah, didn't see that, sorry.

If anyone thinks immigration in at Bangkok is bad, you need to get out more, it is one of the better ones.

  9. I have been asked for a boarding pass at Ben Gurion in Israel and in the USA also. I was in Europe once and the guy in front of me was told to go back to the plane and get his that he had left behind. It is always a good bet to keep all documents with you. Even though I have a Thai visa and never been asked for a boarding pass or a return ticket I keep them with me because I know I could be asked for it. Every country has it's own special rules, and as a very frequent traveller all over the world none are worse than america airports where one check in girl demanded to know my address in Thailand???

Anyone who is a frequent visitor to BKK should know what is required, there are plenty of signs at the immigration saying that you need a boarding pass and return ticket, whether you are asked for it or not.

I don't think I have been photographed at any other airport apart from in the UK when you leave, but the yanks do take your fingerprints.
