    Anybody Hosting With 3ix.org ?

    Hi Uncle_Ho,

    It's correct that cPanel have removed the search engine submit feature from the latest version, not exactly sure why but I have to say the couple of times I've used it recently I had mixed results, the problem appeared to be that the search engines kept changing the pages (and requirements) for submitting new sites (maybe to stop such automated submissions).

    As Crushdepth says there are better ways of doing it, also make sure you do good work on the pages first and get all the relevant keywords in the page names (i.e. italian_pizza_restaurant_bangkok.htm), page descriptions, keywords, top of page, page content etc..

    Sever Down ?

    Hi Udon, Tytus, hope you are well.

    The server that Tytus is on experienced a hardware failure on Sunday evening, it was out for a couple of hours, it's the only time it's ever been down since being brought into service about 6 months ago. Downtime on 3iX servers is VERY rare but of course always possible, our monitoring tells us within 2 minutes if a server or one of it's services is down and our engineers will take immediate action.

    You will find the 3iX service affordable but very reliable, you'll get a high level of personal experience that you will never see elsewhere, try emailing another $1 web host (or even a $10 web host) and see if you get a reply within a few hours 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with 3iX it's standard.

    3iX host websites for about 20 or so TV members that I know of, but not the TV site itself.

    We've been very happy with 2CO, had personal service when required, fast payments, good merchant reporting/interface.

    One thing you do need to be aware of is that if your clients are expats or frequent travellers (i.e. their credit card is in the US/UK/Europe etc.. and they place the order from a Thai (or wherever) IP address then their order will be cancelled by 2CO's fraud checking system, and your customer will need to fax a copy of their card to complete the order, not ideal)

    Reading Email On The Phone With Dtac/gprs

    If you have a phone that doesn't support reading email in the way that Crushdepth mentions (i.e. Nokia 6610) then DTAC also offer their users an easy to use email account that you can access by WAP or GPRS.

    You'll get a [email protected] email address, I copy all my mail to it for reading when out and about.

    You can set it up to send you an SMS on receipt of a specific email, i.e. if email subject contains 'Happy Birthday' then SMS to phone, which could be used in a number of handy ways.

    osCommerce is easy to configure, they also have a forum to help out if you get stuck, all our hosting packages include the osCommerce package free.

    Your first consideration should be your Payment processor, if you are using 2CO for instance you might not need any cart or ecommerce package at all, you just setup the products in their system and they provide you a link for each one, you add the link to your order page, sorted!
