  1. At the next renewal I shall have a retirement visa extension and this will qualify me for the DL's to remain valid for 5 years. It seems that if I'd had two 1 year visas (at least) I would have had validity for 5 years first time, rather than the 1 year. wai2.gif

I'm not 100% sure but I think every first licence that they issue is only for one year. Then on renewal, if you have the correct visa they will give you the 5 year.

Quite true (100%) as I just did it today.

Interesting I completed my 1 year licence, got my five year licence, lost it somewhere? tried to renew, was told I have to go to immigration

Thai Woman with power looked me up and down and said I could not have a licence for 5 years, went and seen the local higher officials, have my licence, but have to do it all again in October. I feel I want to complain about the Woman from Immigration as she rang the Road and Traffic department and told them not to give me a licence. Since when do Immigration have any thing to do with a Driving Licence?

I highly doubt you can find it at 2000 baht anywhere, especially with the cost of shipping factored in.

  3. Left out of this sad tale is some actual background on Awe Ye Ping. Ok, so he was 22 years old and the 56 year old deceased would take regularly select him for sexual activity. There is a brief mention of the condemned young man's drug use. But, there is nothing about this kid as a human being. Doesn't anyone want to know why a kid could be driven to a murder like this, why he had no problem killing someone? Is it more convenient to believe that it was because of some dirty dishes?

What's missing from this story and a few of the other news items is more detail about the condemned and the two other young male prostitutes. No mention of the influence of years of abuse and exploitation. These 3 young men were impoverished, uneducated and in the case of one, a drug addict and were working as prostitutes. When young people are exploited and abused is it any wonder why they don't place a value on life? Years of being exploited usually lead to a manifestation of violence. These 3 young men are the face of prostitution in Thailand. I suppose that's too unpleasant for some to consider. Instead, we get a story that's politically correct.

I will get slammed for being insensitive and cruel. However, am I to believe that the deceased was motivated by altruistic concern for these 3 young men? Or, is the truth of the story that this was just another foreigner in Thailand taking advantage of destitute refugees that picked the boy who's psyche had reached the point of no return? Mr. Crisp chose to take advantage of vulnerable young men and he paid the price.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Crisp died, but one thing is certain. Mr. Crisp won't be exploiting marginalized destitute refugees anymore.Yea, yea, I'm so insensitive.

I'm sorry, I've seen some of these kids and so many of them are seriously screwed up courtesy of the sex trade and foreigners that have a wonderful public personna, but are evil incarnate when out of sight.

Yes it could of being dirty dishes, Asians make a big deal about saving face! On the other hand there is very little help for the mentaly ill in Thailand, and of course being a prostitute is a choice!

  4. Once again great advice, looks like there was a contract drawn up between the parties. Father 'n' law went guarantor for person A.

Nothing was written on on the back of the Chanote.

Father 'n' law is now going to Umper and land office on Monday to see if Person A has any claim on land as he has been living on it for some time.

Loan can be proved but there is no claim on the land from person B.

I say person A is responsible, but this could be an ethics or a matter of saving face!

I am not getting involved but would like to know if I am being given the truth or it is a version of the buffalo story.

I could not understand why you would pay for land you already own!

    Thai’s do things funny ways!

  5. I just want to put the facts straight, the borrower or the loaner does not own the land the land is in the name of my father 'n' law.

The person who borrowed has not paid the amount agreed for the land, and has also not paid the money for the loaner, from the borrower a pattern is appearing with none payments.

Father 'n' law guaranteed the loan with the land title.

Wife will need to pay back the loan amount plus non payments for the loan period!

Amount of Rai in question I am not sure it is next door to another property that is owned by my father ‘n’ law, wife want’s to keep the property in the family.

I want some guarantees for myself, thinking of leasing land, building something on it where I can obtain a work permit; I am currently residing with an O class visa.

  6. Very sound advice, this is the kind of information I was after, I am fully aware the person who borrowed the money does not have the transfer money, the loaner has guaranteed the owner he will not act on the loan.

Is there a time period where a person who stays on land for some time has rights to that land?

Could I possibly see the title at the land office?

  7. well id spend 110,000 with 10,000for the lawyer, then if lawyer says bullshi* I save 100,000 your call man but that one is an old one call there bluff say now problem we will go see my Thai lawyer and sort it all out.

Thank you for the advice, I have said let's get a lawyer, if wife persist I will get her to get a loan in her name. End of story!

  8. Maybe employ a lawyer to check it out, do the negotiations and draw up the contracts for you? Might save you some stress and money in the long run.

I was thinking a Lawyer was a waste of time, for the Leasing I would contact a Lawyer, but for the other issues, a lot of time and money would be wasted.

  9. Question in relation to property in Chanthaburi!

Father n law has guaranteed a relation to a loan with his title for land.

Relation has not paid for the loan.

Loaner has lived on land of the father n law and has not paid the agreed amount.

Relation has given title to loaner.

Loaner has not been paid for some time and still has title.

Relation want's money so he can pay for loan.

Of course I am the millionaire, wanting 100000 baht to get title back.

question what rights does the father n law have to his title?

I want to get the land and build something on it, get wife to lease it to me.

  10. wow I lived near Chalong in Rawai beach for 1 month, in 2009, so bad, and so scary!!!!!!

I also lived in Chalong for 1 year and seen many Italians with Lady Boys, I use to see groups on motor bikes, this I could not understand but each to there own, I can confirm it seems to be the Italians that do this the most!

I cannot confirm if it is the right man or not, but it is an Italian thing to be with lady boys!

  11. 90 ? And still...? Could be a setup or maybe it happened ? Did he pay the parents ? Did they know ? Did they allow ?

It's up to the judge now. In jail ? Not likely. Take his money to compensate the children ? Than send him back to Down Under ?

Why does this only happen in Thailand; or does this happen more than we know...?

He is not Australian; he must have dual citizenship, when you have Thai citizenship they do not say you are Thai if you have a dual citizenship!

As for the Girls, they cannot be blamed I just hope they will be O.K. and will quickly forget if possible.

    :realangry:

  12. No green book.. Depends on what is there.. if everything was perfect it can be done for 50 - 120k depending on engine size..

If anything isnt perfect it can be impossible.. Way too much risk..

I guess you could use the bike for spares

  13. :)

    Simple......U dont!!

Never ever touch a bike or put any money over unless it has a Green Book that has been verified by Land and Transport.

You WIL lose your bike to the BiB

thank you for your quick responce, I will take your advice!

  14. I was hit whilst on my motor bike with my Thai wife sitting in the pillion seat, the pickup driver went through a red light, my wife went to the hospital and I was told to go to the police station and report it, my wife was released and came with me, I hold a Thai licence which usual helps, but it does not help if the Thai driver gets to the police station and pays the police first. The interview was in Thai, there was little compensation and the Police tried to intimidate me into signing a statement in Thai, I said no in Thai and walked out. Totally disgusted!

So what I am trying to convey is that the Thai people do not worry about people or even people who are Thai, it is everyone for themselves, pedestrian crossing are for those who want to commit suicide!!

It appears the German tourist is just another victim that will not be reported to the rest of the world, how many people will have to die in this country for someone to do something?

In civilised countries if people die during holidays they make more laws and put more police on the streets, but of course if you are just a visitor you are not worth anything except for the change in your pocket.

    :)
