  1. They are cleaning the outside unit? As for "top-up" that should not normally be required unless there is a leak as the air conditioner is a closed system. How good is there cleaning? Normally the problem will be dirty fins if not cooling well and coolant level is good. Are they using detergent and power cleaner?

There are several things involved in a AC System where the company should look at:

    a) compressor at the condensing unit (outdoor)

:) leakage of refrigderant in the system

    c) dirty refridgerant pipes (copper)

    d) cheap insualtion around these pipes (usual loss is up to 35%)

    e) dirty condensing unit

    f) dirty fan coil unit (inside the room)

What you have to do is to find a reliable AC company where you live and work properly and honestly.

Of course it costs some money but it's worth it

    Good luck

  2. First of all, use Firefox instead of IE. Secondly I've been using free AVIRA since it exists, never had any problems. Switched to the payed professional version since I think these guys need get supported for their good works.

  3. Hi Beekaykay

Your water heater can't be reset because the internal earth leakage "breaker" is detecting an electrical leak (which could kill you while having a hot shower).

The reason of the internal tripping is either a broken heating element or faulty cabling.

You have to most likely change your water heater or get it fixed. If you're talking about the 9-12k Baht range it's most likely a Stiebel-Eltron, they have warranty and service.

Don't bother to buy a good one again if you want to have your water heater replaced, it's worth the money.

Ceilings can be fixed cheapl, why bother???

  4. Hi all you guys

I still can't figure out since many, many years what all of you are hassle about work permits, Non-B, Non-O Visas, lawyers and so on.

Probably all of you never cared about going to the relevant government places and offices and inform yourself on what you need or what you want.

There are clear rules and requirements on all issues, no secrets, no hidden agendas, no tea money, no lawyers requested.

I've never used a lawyer nor an accountant to do any of my papers since 22 years. The only thing I did is going to the i.e. labour department and asked what is required for a work permit, or immigration office for the 1year visa and finally for the residential book. That's all what I did, asking the government officers.

If you are employed or getting employed by a legal registered company here in Thailand you will get your work permit, if the company match the requirements set by Thai law (registered capital, number of Thai employees, monthly salary). All this information can be found on several hundreds of web pages. No lawyer required.

Same issue regarding so-called multiple re-entry visas, 1year visas. If you got a job (with a work permit), you'll get a 1year visa if you apply for it at the immigration before your visa (Non-O or Non-B expires). No big deal at all, just bring in all the papers the are asking for (they have a list what's needed). No lawyer required.

As long as you don't care of the Thai legal system you will need lawyers and pay them and you never know if your status / papers / visas are correct. What an unnecessary waste of time and money.

Hope some of you will understand,, good luck to the honest ones

  5. Have been working here on Phuket 22y ago in the diving industrie. When I look at the shape of Dive Asia 1 I,m wondering why at all it can float. It's too high, it takes a breeze and it rolls over. The safest dive boat in Phuket???? THis boat should have had never get the certification to sail. Anyhow, I'm very sorry that this has happend.

  6. Let's face it. You like it or not, but with Thaksin's cleanup on drugs, dealers and addicts the situation in the whole country is much better than ever. Did anyone of you travel through the northern and eastern part of Thailand in the last 2 years? If not, before the cleanup, there where addicts sitting or lying in the villages, some even had just made a shot, the syringe still in their arms. This you won't see anymore anywhere.

I wonder what would one of you say when your child would become a drug addict and the police and other agencies would just do nothing?

Human rights for dealers, don't make me laugh.

The other job he's done well is to improve efficiency of officers working in government places.

I don't agree with all rules and restrictions this government is setting up but I do know what is good for society and families with children.

    cheers

  7. Dear Taijii

you can have my job and I'll move to England. I love that country, the nature, people etc.

I've been working here since 1987 more or less constantely so it's time for me to smell some different air.

For my guess you are too young to think moving here specially when you need to save money.

Stay home, come here for holidays and enjoy

    Beach :o
