  1. "most" as "main stream" or "average" or "amateur" owners, not "sophisticated" investors. Note that it would be the same even if they invested in MEME stocks like $GME, not only cryptos. 99% of individual of investors have no clue about finance and investing, and I speak from experience ????
  2. like I said, go dig deeper than wiki. https://archive.tulipsociety.co.uk/wakefield-tulips-in-18th-century/ Tulips were central, and the speculation going for decades. And we are not talking 2000 BC here, so plenty of records and info during that period. This is also studied in Economics and finance in business schools.
  3. Tulips were in late 18th century, and we have extensive info and records on what happened, you need to dig deeper than wiki to get the wisdom out of these events. The problem with crypto owners is that: 1. Most don't actually track their actual gain/loss, so they have no idea exactly how much they have gained or lost. That could be an issue when taxes become effective 2. Most don't know how to calculate actual performance, they use "unrealized" gains as their main benchmark and forget all kind of costs, intermediate losses and time associated with trading. 3. Most are in denial, and prefer to look at the high and low difference as a measure of performance, that's actually a measure of risk, and they have everything upside down. No wonder they take all those crazy risks without knowing the consequences. They will find it the hard way eventually, like Madoff, when all accounts get called.
  4. you did lost a lot in Thailand, Simon, there is no denial in that. But you also got a lot richer in knowledge and wisdom, so not a net loss ????
  5. if buying a Tulip for 400,000 EUR is not losing money, when you could buy it after for 20 EUR, I am not sure you understand the definition of losing money ???? no wonder you invest in cryptos and never "lose", with such wonderful denial
  6. so what happened? the whole thing crashed? don't worry, the crypto minions will work twice as hard to find new "victims" to pump, just a temporary correction ????
  7. price is probably above that value, and it's possible that the previous owner paid more than the land office value. If it's a company buying, you can play the gain/loss there. The transfer tax used to be on the sale price, maybe that changed now.
  8. I have seen the same over a decade with Thais, they also do it on big deals. It's more like a "goodwill" gesture for them, works well in a hot market when you are competing for deals. In this market, get a huge discount on the property and then pay 50% of the tax to make them happy. It's like a bribe thing for them, purely "political". At the end what matters is the final cost of the property and how below the market it is. Alternatively, you could pay official price to break even on the tax, and then additional price in cash under the table.
  9. absolutely, the world has gone completely mad, and a good excuse for more control by governments we are doomed !!!
  10. don't expect more than 10% on low cost properties, so maybe 250K or 300K THB max if they are desperate enough
  11. and her IG for those looking for more pics ???? https://www.instagram.com/patarasayaa/
  12. here is her YT channel, she is also a singer, must be great at the Thai police Karaok ????
  13. first question, how do you logon? using a Microsoft ID, or as a local account? next question, are those 2 PCs on the same "domain" or "workgroup"? make sure your network is in "private" mode and discovery is activated. Takes a few minutes for PCs to sniff each other on a WIFI network. If in "private" mode you can temporarily "disable" the firewall, and see what happens. Should work.
  14. yeah, we all know the "dodgy" characters behind these "farang" organizations could be that some of their businesses with the pandemic have been shutdown, and the FBI has been on their case for over a decade, the immense cashflow from the Night Life bought them a small oasis of peace and protection in Thailand, while they were being chased off internationally, in particular HK COVID obviously had an impact, so they may they took their chips and called it quit ????
  15. more like stepping on a turd and making a simple observation ????
  16. who cares for god sake, are you that bored in real life? ????
  17. we professionals can be censored and fined by regulators for posting advice like these on forums or on social media regulators need to start prosecuting the average amateur investor when they are complicit in these crypto scams, like hate speech, this is irresponsible and unacceptable yet, they can get away with it
  18. he wouldn't be the first, a lot of journalists and bloggers have been harassed in Thailand by questionable individuals, and that usually ends with a runner ????
  19. yeah, I do. A bit old and dated now. Obviously the blogger was being paid to review those bars, in a funny way
  20. the OP has left the building, too scared about answers not being what he hoped for ????
  21. must be a slow week, looking forward to next year estimates by TAT next week ????
  22. in Thailand, like in many countries, you can "be" the prosecutor on private matters in criminal courts even if no public prosecutor want to take the case and lose time and money but an experienced public prosecutor will not take case based on "nothing", yourself with the help of a private counsel could, but be prepared to be sued back by the other party if you lose or the case is dismissed for lack of evidence. The whole process can take 2 or 3 years. Does anyone have that much time to waste unless it's done for pure revenge?
