  1. if you don't want recommendations, then don't ask questions. It looks you are confusing validation with recommendations. You have convinced yourself you have a case, when any expat who have lived here long enough know you don't. You have no case, period. Everyone is laughing at your posture here, and so will the Thais you are going to tell your story ???? you might actually end yourself in trouble if you start bothering the wrong people. Be careful. People jump off balcony for little things like this when they push it too far.
  2. This is why it's a lost cause, there is no damage, there is no case. This is the not the US where procedure is more important than the result, here and in most countries I might add, it's the other way around. You need to prove damage for prosecution to be engaged. In your case, you have nothing, no damage, just a bruised ego, and a small loss of face. As a nobody in Thailand, nobody will care.
  3. indeed, some people have too much time on hand and are bored in Pattaya ???? a lost cause, next stop, the balcony ????
  4. the OP might get prosecuted for filming the scene without "approval" ????
  5. good point, if you go to his website, he stopped updating news stories 8 months ago, so something must have happened then, probably took him that much time to call it quit, smart move IMO
  6. I think you are projecting your personal story here ???? resilient expats stuck in Thailand have usually burn all their bridges back home, because who in his right mind would want to stay here in Thailand if they had better options outside? ????
  7. I do trade with IB and obviously you have no idea how brokers and custodian works, IB gives you access to FX exchanges, that's not the interbank rate, pricing is fluid and "live" most banks have their own equity and FX trading desk, IB is a global broker, some asset managements firms, not banks, might use IB and other brokers as agents of trade, but that's not the same thing. IB use internal crossing, that's not trading against the customers, all brokers do it since the age of time, and it's nicely regulated too.
  8. the banks will not pay 2EUR per currency transaction, they do their own currency crossing internally, so that's irrelevant, they are not customers, they are wholesalers, and most major banks are market makers for currencies. The spread will depend on their inventory average to create a "Daily" price they call sell for "retail", that is more stable than the actual "live" price on a trading floor. If you want the "live" price, you need to open a currency trading account.
  9. probably got fed up with Thailand, saw things there would never improve, only get worse time to move on, smart move or he is being stalked by some local or expat nutter and need to get out, wouldn't be the first time this happen ????
  10. remaining long term expats here are stuck, they are not choosing to stay, they are prisoners, all they can do is find "justification" for staying today, there is no justification to stay as a long term expat in Thailand you are lying to yourself if you think you are needed here,
  11. oh no, Mantra is gone. Great place for diner and brunch. Best place in Pattaya IMO. All goods things come to an end I guess. Only miserable crappy cheap places seem to survive in Pattaya ????
  12. buying spot or futures currencies on a trading account like IB is not the same thing as doing international transfers. I understand it's difficult to understand for newbies and non-financial people, but trading is not the same as banking.
  13. The Hilton on beach road, if they still have it, and the wonderful Mantra in North Pattaya in that swiss chain, about 2,000 THB per person with free flow of wine and beers, not sure if they still have it
  14. when you go to a zoo, visiting the cute animals, do you feel the need to be accepted by them? of course not, so why should you here ???? Thailand is a human zoo ????
  15. IB doesn't control exchange rates, and the spread on a spot rate will always have a final impact of 1% to 2% on the overall transfer the transfer is not a simple administrative cost,
  16. it's a nice way to put it, you are only accepted once you are invisible, not the usual noisy, attention seeking and loud farang ????
  17. I think mia nois make better wives, but that's just my opinion ????
  18. you can only feel like an expat for so long, just a question of time before they kick you out physically or politically
  19. sounds like you found a really good deal here, the women of "Ile Maurice" are quite nice when they are thin, they could rock your world. Mauritius is one of the paradise island to go to for your wedding days or expensive vacations. There used to be a lot of "100% nude" beach there during summer, not sure if still the case, with a lot of gorgeous western girls looking for a 100% tan for their instagram ????
  20. wondering if with the 20year PR you could go to Europe under Schengen since Mauritius (Ile Maurice) is a former French protectorate
  21. I don't think it will return to normal for a few years, the dividends of this crisis are too important for some China loves it too, they get to lockdown internationally their entire population like they did under Mao ????
  22. ATK tests are not reliable, above all if you are vaccinated, complete waste of time and money for everybody except for the labs, obviously
  23. I used to think that way, but you forget to take into account the personal political benefits of this some leaders love to have control, and those rules boost their control egos, even if they are not authoritarians, they feel "useful" and that's the problem, they are not useful, yet that doesn't stop them from trying that's how things are getting out of control, like 911, it opened a path to political abuses, and covid will not be different
