  1. The website is mostly in Thai but it say's the application fee for marriage visa is $95,000 baht. Can people confirm this? I have'nt seen this mentioned on the visa forum, only about the other monetary requirements. Is this a non-refundable app fee even if the application is denied? Given a choice I'd rather spend $30,000 for a trip back to Hawaii and get another B visa.

    Thanks.

    cm96,

You are right, flying back to Hawaii is the way to go. Marriage visas are a real pain and not worth the current or future troubles.

  2. I have never understood why the anti-food thread forces can not just ignore threads that they are not interested in - like everyone else - but the last few days they have actually been starting food threads which they they then proceed to bitch and moan about.

Some folks really do have too much time on their hands. :)

Why can you not take your own advice and ignore the posts you are not interested in?

  3. Could you kindly provide some directions to Suang Prung?

No need for directions mate, free transport, they will pick you up.

Boy oh boy, someone else with information about the acquisition of which one hesitates to contemplate.

Which part of the information caused your hesitation to contemplate?

    a. the transportation is free

    b. they will pick YOU up

  4. Why dont you try suang prung. Im sure theyve got a nice restaurant there.

it might get you away from your computer.

Thank you very much for that, ajarnpim, on behalf of Ian, and for your concern, on my own behalf.

Could you kindly provide some directions to Suang Prung?

No need for directions mate, free transport, they will pick you up.

  5. "really beyond all reason" is correct. So, that means that there are a lot of people here who are beyond all reason, at least part of the time. And they messing things up for the others and/or the Thais.

Is this a new problem, the last 5 years or so, or is it an older problem that has recently become more apparent because the total numbers of farangs here has increased by a lot?

Either way they are like deficating in the pool that we all swim in.

  6. QUOTE (mongoose @ 2008-08-24 09:44:18) post_snapback.gifI too will be going to Laos soon, thanks for the advice. I have a bunch of big one dollar bills, do you know where I could change them to the small one dollar bills you recommend ?

i can give you the phone nr of my shrink :o

Thanks for the offer but I will pass. If you want to help, ask Jingthing <deleted> he/she means by "small one dollar bills". Have you ever seen one? How much smaller is it than the normal or big ones?

  7. My questions:

When you forget to sign in and you're 1 day over the grace period, you're fined 2,000THB

    ...

    Scrap that question, perhaps.

You are talking about the 90-day address report and for this you will not be fined if you report to the immigration office up to 7 days late:

    Maestro

    [/size]

Is Loaded's grace period the 7 days Maestro refers to? If so, Loaded's question seems reasonable, why charge 2000 for one more day.

  8. On the same subject, I need a full time maid, six days a week but not live in, any one can recommend what the salary should be?

Like everything else, maids come in many different qualities, styles and prices. Location can also be a factor. Around 200 Baht per day is common for full time.

  9. The OP has not yet told us if he has even tried to talk with his neighbor or neighbors or landlord about the problem which has been going on for weeks and possibly months, unless I missed it.

And it has been suggested that the solution is to become the most offensive member of the community by making the most noise.

And this is all the fault of the Thais.

    .

  10. Best to get one in CM, even if they gave them at the border in the past does not mean that they will be doing it when you arrive there. The officer who does it just might be out sick, at a meeting or otherwise unavailable. Or they may have just stopped doing it the day before. It is a long way back to CM.

  11. Well, well, well, I sure got a few good talkings to! By nature I am not one who buys easily into the consensus view of things, but in this case I think that the consensus view has a lot to be said for it, and that an apology is due from me.

I would like to apologise for the offence and upset caused caused to many by my undefendable, holier-than-thou, nitpicking, dismal, rude, condescending and sneering post. I did not mean it to be all of those things, but that is the way it came across, and in this case, at least, I think the proof is in the pudding. I apologise.

I would also like to say I that I am grateful to Steve2UK for his understanding.

Good effort Rass. Great to know that you did not mean it to be ALL those things. But gee, that does leave the door open for some of them or a lot of other negatives not mentioned.

Frankly I do not care if you read the OP's other posts or not, your post was hostile if not sick.

  12. Why are they celebrating the July 4th independence day on July 3rd?????

When I was asked by a newly arrived expat if Thailand had a July 4th, I responded

Thailand doesn't have a July 4th. It goes from July 3rd right into July 5th....

I'd better wait for that 1:30 plane...

    Oh no

    Please don't go

There are too many in need of just the kind of information you offer

  13. I wanted to post this already a long time.

What is the use of promoting something if you don't know if, when and where you can buy it?

You may have a point related to something but.... this thread does provide information about if, when and where to buy the sausages which are the topic of the thread. I used the information and bought some which were quite good. I will buy them again soon.

Thanks to those who provided the information.

  14. the missus loves fettuccine carbonara ... any recommended places?

Georgio makes a good cream sauce with bacon but adds some tomato sauce and chilie. It is not carbonara but has some similar characteristics and you can get it with fettuccine.

  15. Oh Rasseru, after you pick yourself up along with your stones and dust, turn left at Chiang Mai Gate for the Bombay Indian restaurant.

Thanks, mongoose, but I think you must of intended to direct your kind consideration to Priceless.

    The comment was for you.

  16. Turn left off Thapae Road into the Night Bazaar street. Take the second left (the one before the four-way intersection where the Burger King is). Le Spice is some 60 meters down, on the right hand side.

Regardless of which direction I am coming from? :o

Hopefully you are only coming from one direction as Thapae Road is a one-way street.

Exactly. Priceless, a few stones and a scattering of dust are falling from the top of your pedestal. Be careful you don't slip -- remember, it's a long, long way to the ground! :D

I tend to walk a lot, and as far as I've been told Thapae Rd is still two-way for pedestrians...

    / Priceless

Oh Rasseru, after you pick yourself up along with your stones and dust, turn left at Chiang Mai Gate for the Bombay Indian restaurant.
