Sounds like they are selling crap that nobody will actually buy so an entrance fee creates an illusion that there are hidden gems inside, when in reality it's garbage but shops till makes a profit from selling nothing, or are chinese more prone to shoplifting or breaking items and refusing to pay... very strange practice now they have this headache to contend with

Ok it's not great situation to be in but the UK government has never made a secret that pensions in certain countries will be frozen when you reside there. I knew this 16 years ago when I retired at 40, I calculated this against the benefits of retirement in thailand and decided was worth the potential loss
I'm ex military and thing that is most annoying is our government can send us to any crap hole they desire to and we are still expected to pay the national insurance but we can't expect the payouts while living abroad in retirement

Time to start a random drug and alcohol tests as this isn'tan isolated incident, used to see police at certain out of the way restaurants in the area drinking heavily in uniform carrying a sidearm just take their shirt off and have white tshirt underneath.

They add these holidays but normal business don't add them and operate as normal, the only people who truly benefit are government employee's who already only work a 5 day week, children are given time off but then parents struggle finding alternative child care

Sad day when big joke was ousted from rtp, he had a good guy in bad guys out policy which for some reason offended many foreigners, I liked that his policy also applied to immigration officers, they were all on their best behaviour when he was in charge. You knew exactly what was needed and each immigration office was plasterered in signs detailing how long each specific visa was to take, the bit I liked was the complaint shotline they used to have,,, funny as soon as he left the immigration division all those signs were quickly binned and we went back to looking for issues which can't be fixed unless you use an agent, which they just happen to have on speed dial

All airlines should be able to recruit the best pilots possible no matter their nationality, who wants an inferior pilot taking to the skies with 300 passengers when he perhaps only got the job because he is thai and no one else is allowed.... barber is a protected thai job but what's the worst that can happen... a bad haircut which will grow out in a few weeks, poor pilot could crash killing all passengers and destroying anything it hits on the ground
Not saying thai pilots are inferior but you can't get the best pilots with such a limited recruitment pool

Every other day some foreigners being arrested for drug smuggling or dealing, few live tv executions to return the fear back to these crimes. People used to fear Thailands strict punishment but it's gotten weak and people don't care anymore

Bangkok is a big city with relatively good rail and road connections, bangkok in certain area will definitely break the bank but there are cheap rentals if willing to get off sukhumvhit and go more native, good wage for white collar worker is 25,000 a month and they survive renting and have money for groceries and other necessities. That wouldn't even cover rent in the roughest council estate in London

My feet itch if I walk through a puddle in rain season and can't wash the dirty water immediately, god knows what playing in the water will do, open sores, water in anus or urethra holes, getting in ears nose throat and eyes will likely create all sorts of problems

Police shouldn't facilitate an apology only reason is he has been told that the courts when sentencing will take into account remorse and any apology given irrespective of it was heartfelt or just to get further leniency from the court. Police should investigate and prosecute if necessary that is all

Good job I dropped my daughter off at the airport a few days ago, the rush at the airport of visitors arriving to see a minor beauty pageant in pattaya will cause huge travel delays
