I did not realise that transferwise was fee free and same day service, I must have misunderstood all the previous posts about transferwise.
It is not about 'fee free', idiotic concept, it is about the amount that lands in your Thai bank account to spend! Transferwise is simply better, and I get mine in 4 hours from Aus.

I assume you already have a Thai bank account. I stopped using the Aus ripoff banks years ago, been using https://www.bahtsmart.com/.
What they quote is the amount that actually deposits in your Thai bank. If I transfer to them by 8am, it is in my Thai account by 6pm same day.
Still less than you would get with transferwise

A couple of questions. Firstly is Transferwise still operating normally? Haven't used them for a year and need to send money from Australia to Thailand
(I have no requirement for visa as far as showing foreign deposit for visa etc, just want to make sure they are still safe)
Can I select a deal / ex rate and transfer money to them tomorrow or next day, ie lock the rate in or is it an instantaneous thing?
I see this morning the Australian dollar 80c against US which in turn has made the AUS / THB ex rate very favorable, or better at least.
Does anyone have any insight if this is likely to continue and I should hold off a bit or pull the trigger now?
I did read somewhere a big stimulus package was signed in the States today thought maybe it may strengthen the US again
Yes they are operating normally.
You can lock in the current rate if you wish.
There is no link between USD and AUS/THB rate, the AUS rate vs THB has been climbing steadily for a few days, when will it end nobody knows.

Now, almost all my US-based friends in my age group are posting online about receiving their second Moderna or Pfizer jab, while here there's no telling when we'll even start. How things can change....And you know they are the perfect answer how????

Well if the <deleted> retards were out patrolling the roads to reduce the 25k per year death toll there they wouldn't even know about about the pi$$ant number of protesters. Dumber than dog droppings.

No, team mates only. Seriously they are extremely cheap today in comparison to when they came out.

Please explain how I could lose 9000 bht transferring $A to a $A Thai bank account, I then transfer to Bhat as needed.
As an example, todays rate at Kbank is 22.2thb for 1 AUD (plus fees if any), Transferwise is 22.8 inclusive of fees,

I am absolutely amazed by people that focus on fees and charges rather than the actual THB that will end up in your account. Just checked ANZ vs Transferwise, and yes the fee is much higher, but for the gent who transferred $10k from ANZ you just tore up 9,000 baht.

Today they also wanted photo copy of the passport page containing the entry stamp, and the retirement visa made 7 years ago and the extension stamp page. Also had to fill in a form handed out at the reception desk.
They didn't want a copy of the chanote or blue book, proof of condo ownership. No lease and no house book.
I feel sorry for you, I did mine less than a month ago and breezed through with the above mentioned documentation.

OP, I hope you obtain some suggestions.
I'm in even worse situation.
I obtained residence certificate some time back in order to obtain my first Thai DL, then find out that bookings were unavailable for quite some time.
Literally getting my 'stuff' together to go to MTT this week and then read your post.
The RC has life span I think one month.
Perhaps consult agent such as Fatboys. As I understand it you still require all correct docs but they 'can obtain' appointment slot.
Does anyone know if I can buy an international DL until things settle. I'm on annual extensions so realize I should obtain Thai DL. I have a current Oz DL.
Good luck OP. I'm sure someone will have suggestion for your situation.
I am sure that the RC has a 12 month life span, the medical certificate is one month, not sure where you are but I just walked into the Banglamung office last week and did mine.

Recommendations please - Aussie passport and Driving Licence, I have been here on n off for 27 years and currently have Work Permit and Thai ID pink card n yellow book and a medical for licence applications 1 week old now so can i use my Aussie licence to apply for Thai Licence requesting for the easy way to exchange/transfer type system locally ??
Did mine last week with a current NT licence and no problem at Banglamung office, still had to do reaction tests and watch 45 min video. Medical normally only valid for 30 days so you may have an issue there if you cannot get in due to current restrictions. Proof of residence required which you would have covered.

I had no issues getting a certificate for the purpose of obtaining a drivers licence from Jomtien office last week.

2nd floor, all shops have them, I purchased mine from 'Sun' shop two years ago and it performs flawlessly. They will run you through the apps and how to hook up box, very easy. Hardwire connection (cat5/6) cable workd a million times better than wifi.
