Good Covid News – The End Of Restrictions In Sight
mar zarych replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When does the flood of "digital nomads" begin to replace all the tourists they chased away. -
I've been to Thailand every year out of the last 15 with the exception of 2021. Always enjoyed myself despite some minor frustrations when I had to deal with ANY governmental agency. Everyday I spent money on goods and services as well as medical costs if needed. Last year I visited 3 other countries and spent my money there after simply complying with required covid testing as I,m triple vaccinated. That said I simply can't bother to jump through their hoops when it just isn't necessary, ie: covid insurance, having to overpay even one day for lodging etc. I passed on visiting this High season and will do the same for as long as they keep up these ridiculous requirements.

Thailand-India travel bubble to fortify tourism sector
mar zarych replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Although I Would love to visit, I categorically refuse until they drop all the foolish restrictions. I am not going to pay them extra hundreds of dollars for the right to come and spend my money. -
I'm sure they can guarantee caseloads of less that 10,000 per day. Most people will not submit to testing as the "wrong" result all but guarantees one a scarlet letter.

AQ is ten days in BKK, is it not ?

They should save themselves a lot of trouble and just concentrate on all those "digital nomads" and "high net worth individuals" they were blabbering about that would save the day. I'm disgusted and wont subject myself to this juvenile extortion so that the insurance companies can squeeze a few more baht out of the tourists. I'll come back when they drop all this nonsense. A good excuse to go somewhere else.

Thailand Pass To Entice More International Tourists
mar zarych replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They will continue to get expats who have had to leave the country for one reason or another, Having to pay for the privilege of visiting Thailand leaves a bad taste in any tourists mouth. I believe they want to restrict and deter Tourists but have to act as if they are trying to help everyone in the tourism sector who have been suffering. By design its not going to work. I just traveled to a country in Central Asia which required a PCR test prior to boarding the aircraft. After landing I was completely unmolested by the authorities and walked right through customs and out of the airport. Compare that to the charade waiting for you in Bangkok. See you when all the extraneous BS is finished and the connected Thai insurance companies stop stealing the visitors money. -
I just read the requirements for the grand reopening: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ They expect regular tourists to go through that BS ? I'll go anywhere that does not require me to spend extra money for the right to be a tourist. I've had 2 jabs AND a booster shot. They are the ones who are not vaccinated and I have to pay extra ? No way

Frustrated by all the rosy projections and constant changing and contradictory statements. I gave up on returning to Thailand if ANY of the "covid" rules apply except that I prove full vaccination and will take a test as I've had to on other trips. Thats it ! I recently arrived in Tashkent and didn't have to jump through the money making hoops. No one has tried to overcharge me despite the language barrier. They will have to make it much more convenient for me to come back to Thailand visited on and off for 30 yrs.
