  1. When does the flood of "digital nomads" begin to replace all the tourists they chased away.
  2. Hanging on to these outdated requirements will cost the country a couple of million tourists going forward. Not only do they want to keep the little guys down they want to kick them in the head as well.
  3. I've been to Thailand every year out of the last 15 with the exception of 2021. Always enjoyed myself despite some minor frustrations when I had to deal with ANY governmental agency. Everyday I spent money on goods and services as well as medical costs if needed. Last year I visited 3 other countries and spent my money there after simply complying with required covid testing as I,m triple vaccinated. That said I simply can't bother to jump through their hoops when it just isn't necessary, ie: covid insurance, having to overpay even one day for lodging etc. I passed on visiting this High season and will do the same for as long as they keep up these ridiculous requirements.
  4. Although I Would love to visit, I categorically refuse until they drop all the foolish restrictions. I am not going to pay them extra hundreds of dollars for the right to come and spend my money.
  5. Why would anyone in their right mind purchase property in Thailand (other than in support of a Thai person or family} when the price to rent is such a great deal. I've seen several nice homes upcounty for a few hundred dollars a month. No complicated paperwork and very little obligation.
  6. I'm sure they can guarantee caseloads of less that 10,000 per day. Most people will not submit to testing as the "wrong" result all but guarantees one a scarlet letter.
  7. Can anyone tell me the difference between a Visa on Arrival and a 30 day tourist visa ?
  8. Landed in Phuket on 9 January , Tourist Visa is good until 7 February, Return ticket 9 April. Any ides when I should try for "Covid Visa Extension ? Plan to travel to Tak. Will any immigration office do ? Cost ? Thanks for any feedback
  9. Just submitted a Thailand Pass application for my wife who must return to visit her dying Mother. Confusing enough but the thing that really got me was paying 4200 bt ($130.00) for a PCR test at the airport. Thailand really knows how to welcome tourists!
  10. They seem to be relaxing things, like NYE just when everyone is letting their guard down. It will only take a few hundred Omircon cases to have chicken little start mouthing off.
  11. Those guys at Thai are really sharp. They charge more for tickets than all the other airlines and get less customers.
  12. They should save themselves a lot of trouble and just concentrate on all those "digital nomads" and "high net worth individuals" they were blabbering about that would save the day. I'm disgusted and wont subject myself to this juvenile extortion so that the insurance companies can squeeze a few more baht out of the tourists. I'll come back when they drop all this nonsense. A good excuse to go somewhere else.
  13. Same old BS predictions, They just spit out whatever they dream up. No consequences for repeatedly making false and inaccurate predictions. Fools
  14. They will continue to get expats who have had to leave the country for one reason or another, Having to pay for the privilege of visiting Thailand leaves a bad taste in any tourists mouth. I believe they want to restrict and deter Tourists but have to act as if they are trying to help everyone in the tourism sector who have been suffering. By design its not going to work. I just traveled to a country in Central Asia which required a PCR test prior to boarding the aircraft. After landing I was completely unmolested by the authorities and walked right through customs and out of the airport. Compare that to the charade waiting for you in Bangkok. See you when all the extraneous BS is finished and the connected Thai insurance companies stop stealing the visitors money.
  15. I just read the requirements for the grand reopening: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ They expect regular tourists to go through that BS ? I'll go anywhere that does not require me to spend extra money for the right to be a tourist. I've had 2 jabs AND a booster shot. They are the ones who are not vaccinated and I have to pay extra ? No way
  16. I've already visited 2 countries other than Thailand and am throughly enjoying my self without any quarantine. I took a PCR within 72 hours of boarding my flights and thats it ! They are whipping a dead horse. I wont come back until they drop all the unnecessary hurdles. Typical small minds.
  17. All this malarky about reopening this date them maybe that date. In the meantime I'm in Uzbekistan, No COE, no Insurance required, 6 month triple entry visa. Great food and people. Oh, and no quarantine after 1 negative pcr test. See you next year!
  18. Frustrated by all the rosy projections and constant changing and contradictory statements. I gave up on returning to Thailand if ANY of the "covid" rules apply except that I prove full vaccination and will take a test as I've had to on other trips. Thats it ! I recently arrived in Tashkent and didn't have to jump through the money making hoops. No one has tried to overcharge me despite the language barrier. They will have to make it much more convenient for me to come back to Thailand visited on and off for 30 yrs.
  19. "Thailand hopes to welcome tourists to Bangkok, top cities next month" Just throw any old S..T against the wall maybe it will stick ! Dont forget the COE Etc.
  20. They apparently believe that making overly optimistic projections will give them some status or standing in the current reality. Just the opposite is true. They look like fools and their credibility is worthless.
