  1. Not necessarily. Perhaps if you do that there will be a free for all. But great; now you have given the game away, everyone will be travelling. ????
  2. It's really to stop gatherings. There aren't the resources to check and cross check and.... You know how it is here. I don't understand why people who choose to live in Thailand for a relaxed way of life, start demanding that it is run like a police or nanny state. Stop moaning about everything for goodness sake and take some personal responsibility to keep yourself and others around you safe. TiT. You want China, try China. ????
  3. I also note places open after 9pm. In fact I was out after 9pm(accidentally) and walked past two policemen. But in all honesty it's because most people realise that the real curfew time isn't really 9pm. They say 9pm for 10 pm. Because if they say 10 pm, people will only begin to disperse at 10 pm. Which is fair enough. That's why you don't see any real checkpoints before 10pm.Because many vendors only start making their way home at 9pm. Makes sense that they would try to make as much as possible whilst there are people. No one bothers you as long as you don't take the mickey.
  4. You are asking and answering your own questions. Good. Keep it up. Meanwhile, those who are able to read....
  5. Here is a rough translation from the POV of the Private Investigators(not from the Kapook article):
  6. Wow...try actually reading the source. Seriously don't know how some of you work out how to get out of bed in the mornings.
  7. I get mine from here: https://www.daysoft.com/ But they don't stock Toric lenses; so not for you.
  8. Seriously? More ne'er do wells hanging around tourists is your best idea? People go on holiday to be left alone on the whole. Perhaps you are thinking of North Korea, with a permanent escort.
  9. Is this a 'funny'? Whilst that is the name of this current shop; his former shop inside Tukcom did PC repairs. So he can do the job; he's just a bit lackadaisical.
  10. You did not ask where I lived. You assumed and I left it at that. If perhaps you wrote in a less snidey and baiting manner, I might have understood that you were asking. You know; question mark at the end of a sentence and all that. Let's just say that you are wrong in everything that you imagined. I am retired(though not of retirement age) and not where you assumed.
  11. Do I need to be the one to remind you that we are on a Thailand News thread? I am not the one lobbing stones at the perceived other side. "lefties hate Britain"? That just seems a bold statement to me. I already asked you to expand on what you considered left and right; but you seem to have forgotten about that. At your leisure...
  12. I'm sure on another day and another forum many years ago, when they were inside Tukcom, I pointed out the relatively high fees. The replies were overwhelmingly that whoever used them received good service; if I remember correctly. So if value isn't an issue, it seems a solid recommendation.
  13. I am most definitely suggesting that you are rather frugal with the truth. ???? Your suggestion that they were told right from the beginning holds no water whatsover. If so there would have been no reason for an organisation such as: https://www.the3million.org.uk to even exist. Please don't try to whitewash everything here. It's all designed to polarise. I am right and you are wrong. It's not as simple as that. On some things will will agree and on some things we won't. That is normal; so stop trying to act like normal behaviour makes us opposites. There are positives and negatives to Brexit. Let's discuss BOTH if we are going to discuss it or just not bother at all. I'm sure we have better things to do than to discuss things we cannot change.
  14. I actually quoted your post because you were carrying on the theme started by someone else. So in fact my reply covered both yours and his posts. If I had paid more attention to the AseanNow forum user instruction, I would have understood better how to quote both of you in the same post. But I didn't, so I quoted just you. Apologies. Retire wherever you like, but then don't have the gall to attack the people who actually stay and fight for the future of the country; whilst sitting on your posterior in someone's else's country. Be part of the change you want, instead of jumping ship and lobbing poo from afar. I have no idea for what you stand and you have no idea for what I stand. So for what are we arguing??!! It's all a total nonsense. Please relax and enjoy your day. I'll see you back here if you have a problem about which I can assist.
  15. You are just making that up. You have no idea as to what they were told. Did you receive any of the letters? Do you know how many were refused or how many were given 'pre settled status'? It definitely was not a straightforward as you attempt to suggest. These are not unintelligent people. They were stressed out and uncertain of the status. No need to do anything...oh now you need to do something. Will you get Settled or Pre-Settled or simply refused because you cannot gather the paperwork....
  16. Erm....do you really have any clue? I have many friends from the E.U and they were all in a panic. Remember Fred Sirieix? Lived in the U.K. for 27 years; sent them his passport and National Insurance number. He's been in continuous employment and yet they wrote to him asking for proof of five years of residency. It's only because they realised he was famous after he was retweeted a thousand him that they called him and apologised. ONLY because he is high profile. That and the Windrush debacle are nothing of which to be proud.
  17. I was going to reply; but after reading the quality of your replies on this thread to others, I decide not to bother .. It doesn't make someone a 'leftie' because they don't agree with you. I honestly have no idea as to what puts someone on the left and what puts someone on the right. Do you? Enlighten me. The stupidity is that we waste energy arguing amongst ourselves instead of working together. It weakens us as a nation. Don't insult someone by insinuating that they don't love their country. Explain to them so they might listen. I guarantee that if I insult you that you would focus on the insult and not on an intelligent discussion. So why insult as your introduction and subsequently? It makes it look as if you are incapable of intelligent discussion.
  18. They used to be inside Tukcom, as was the other place that I mentioned. Replacing the power management chip was exactly the job that I had done. Doesn't sound like the same issue with the OP; but he seems confident.
  19. He asked about what was open and who could carry out the work. He didn't ask about value for money. But I also put a price range in there; so that if they quoted a ridiculous price.... I also mentioned someone else who would be cheaper; but he likes to break things. He could take it to an official service centre; but they would likely replace the whole motherboard.
  20. I don't use them for that very reason. I quoted the price that you should pay for that kind of job and the price that I did pay. Unless they had to pay for new parts it was...excessive. So I gave the OP a guide price, to prevent him from being ripped off unnecessarily.
  21. You are living where? You love your country so much that you abandoned ship permanently? What is childish is the demonising of each other. It's simply childish name calling. "lefties hate Britain"? Totally idiotic! I think all Brits love their country in their own way and to suggest otherwise is just disgusting. Brexit has definitely not been a positive thing for many people and to pretend otherwise is simply disingenuous. Just read about the effects of Brexit on the North East: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/19471980.prime-minister-boris-johnson-urged-north-east-business-leaders-urgently-tackle-brexit-problems/ Aren't these the people whom he claimed would benefit? So instead of throwing insults of left and right, why not use the energy to produce something intelligent instead of the usual extremist arguments?
  22. Pattaya2u around the back of Tukcom(near the car park)/ There is another shop that can do it; but his work is a bit messy. His shop is called AppleCare or some such and is also near the car park. Expect to pay around 2k.
