  1. Growing up is not easy.  Thailand has never grown up politically.  And Thailand is neither growing up in terms of Covid-19.  It sticks frantically to being a "safe" closed country. For how much longer can it sustain that?  Are there really only 2 million unemployed in the tourist industry?  Or is it perhaps 4 or 5 million?

Eventually there will come the day of reckoning. With or without a vaccin that will be ok or not ok?  The 100 percent guarantees that Thailand seems to be waiting for do not exist.  Come on, grow up, there is a middle path between Thailand and Brazil.

  2. One of the jobs typically filled by Burmese laborers is the "Spider Man" job.

In our 25 story condo this means hanging from one rope, washing the windows on the outside of the building.

Our windows were supposed to have been washed in March 2020.  Now it is June 2020 and they have not been washed.

When I read this article, our windows may not be washed for the next for months to come....

  3. And whenever this "amnesty" expires, you can probably expect unusually large crowds at immigration because they will probably let the amnesty expire for everyone at the same time.  My recommendation, to let the amnesty expire on everyone's individual 90-day cycle will probably not be followed.

So yes, better continue on your usual 90-days schedule.

  4. If the government imposed a curfew, it should be round-the-clock , said Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam March 25.

Curfews enforced in the past were for reasons of national security with duration of curfew hours. But to deal with a virus, which can infect people at all time, it should be 24 hours, he said.

However, even if occurs , there will be timeframe/s where people are allowed to leave their homes to buy foods and for logistics firms to deliver consumer goods, he added. "

Would this government really be so dumb that they would impose a curfew with special exception for shopping hours?  Just imagine the crowds gathering and transferring the virus?

    2. Ministry of Health

    3. Anupong (Interior Ministry)

    4. Ministry of Tourism

    5. Ministry of Foreign Affairs

    6. Prime Minister who seems to not realize that he is supposed to be the great coordinator.

All of the above grab to moment in front of the television cameras to say "something new", contradict another bigwig and thus confuse everyone.

  6. Its a shame the way the Thai government goes about this.  They should follow Singapore which set a good example in terms of transparency with daily updates about the cases and each new case explained with the link from which cluster it came.

But I suppose in Thailand their is neither the capacity in the government, not the political willingness to follow Singapore's example.

  7. Can someone fix this article and the usual typos in the numbers?

"Led by commitee chief Tosserporn Sirisampan, MCOT said the group expects Indians to spend a whopping 1.1 billion baht in Thailand this year.  They reckoned that 1.95 million visited in 2019."

If 1.95 million Indians spend 1.1 billion Baht, that's a measly 565 baht per person???
