Growing up is not easy. Thailand has never grown up politically. And Thailand is neither growing up in terms of Covid-19. It sticks frantically to being a "safe" closed country. For how much longer can it sustain that? Are there really only 2 million unemployed in the tourist industry? Or is it perhaps 4 or 5 million?
Eventually there will come the day of reckoning. With or without a vaccin that will be ok or not ok? The 100 percent guarantees that Thailand seems to be waiting for do not exist. Come on, grow up, there is a middle path between Thailand and Brazil.

Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn has newly arrived from Mars.
He doesn't seem to have met earthling Anutin Charnvirakul yet.

Great!!
If we can now also get some clarification about TM30 and TM28 then that would be even greater.
Some requirement regarding TM30 was modified (now we need to report only the 1st time when we receive an Alien, including yourself, in our house). But TM28 (any alien must report anytime when he stays a night in another province) is still in force as far as I know.

" An allowance of limited international arrivals must ensure public safety and help stimulate local economies, and strike a balance acceptable to all sides, without raising complaints of unfair treatment among people required to enter 14-day quarantine."
What a complicated way of saying "Yes, you have to quarantine for 14 days, but our buddies not"

One of the jobs typically filled by Burmese laborers is the "Spider Man" job.
In our 25 story condo this means hanging from one rope, washing the windows on the outside of the building.
Our windows were supposed to have been washed in March 2020. Now it is June 2020 and they have not been washed.
When I read this article, our windows may not be washed for the next for months to come....

And whenever this "amnesty" expires, you can probably expect unusually large crowds at immigration because they will probably let the amnesty expire for everyone at the same time. My recommendation, to let the amnesty expire on everyone's individual 90-day cycle will probably not be followed.
So yes, better continue on your usual 90-days schedule.

Sadly, the decision and announcement are poorly done with a classic mistake.
Visas should not be all made to expire all on the same day as now has been announced: 30 April 2020: "????♂️ The person whose visas has expired from 26th of March 2020 will be automatically extended to 30th of April 2020". This will clearly cause chaos some time in the future.
The automatic visas extensions should have been made to expire on the monthly/2-monthly or whatever anniversary date of the expiry. So for example, a 30 day visa that expires on 15 April 2020 should have been automatically extended to 15 May 2020. This avoids the chaos some time in the future. Again, a missed opportunity for this government.
I hope that in future they will not make the same mistake with the 90-days reporting. It now says "????♂️ Aliens who are due for 90 days reports between 26th of March 2020 and 30th of April 2020 are temporarily exempted from reporting in this period until further notice." This "until further notice" leaves open the possibility to avoid the same mistake. Just imagine, all these 80,000 (??) long term stayers having to go to report on the same day.

Yes, finally some good news about Covid-19:
1. It saves some 30 lives a day at least from traffic accidents
2. It saves a lot of lives too (in China for example) because of seriously reduced air pollution

" If the government imposed a curfew, it should be round-the-clock , said Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam March 25.
Curfews enforced in the past were for reasons of national security with duration of curfew hours. But to deal with a virus, which can infect people at all time, it should be 24 hours, he said.
However, even if occurs , there will be timeframe/s where people are allowed to leave their homes to buy foods and for logistics firms to deliver consumer goods, he added. "
Would this government really be so dumb that they would impose a curfew with special exception for shopping hours? Just imagine the crowds gathering and transferring the virus?

Another day, another rule, another confusion.
This time not only foreigners get fed-up.
Thais in UK going ballistic.
Rumour has it that Thai Embassies are scrambling to arrange for Covid-19 tests.
And The Incompetents, they rule on.... and on....and on....

Can we just have fewer cooks spoiling the soup? Please...
1. CAAT
2. Ministry of Health
3. Anupong (Interior Ministry)
4. Ministry of Tourism
5. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
6. Prime Minister who seems to not realize that he is supposed to be the great coordinator.
All of the above grab to moment in front of the television cameras to say "something new", contradict another bigwig and thus confuse everyone.

Difficult to see where these three scenarios come from. In Europe (UK, Netherlands) they assume that eventually 80% of people will either have to become infected or vaccinated. Once that percentage is reached, so-called "group-immunity" is achieved and the virus will die out.

Its a shame the way the Thai government goes about this. They should follow Singapore which set a good example in terms of transparency with daily updates about the cases and each new case explained with the link from which cluster it came.
But I suppose in Thailand their is neither the capacity in the government, not the political willingness to follow Singapore's example.

Can someone fix this article and the usual typos in the numbers?
"Led by commitee chief Tosserporn Sirisampan, MCOT said the group expects Indians to spend a whopping 1.1 billion baht in Thailand this year. They reckoned that 1.95 million visited in 2019."
If 1.95 million Indians spend 1.1 billion Baht, that's a measly 565 baht per person???

Yeah, wanted to go to Pattaya this coming weekend. But Pattaya being another province and I being an alien condo-owner, this would involve all sorts of crazy reporting. So staying at home.

Yes, rejection of extension of stay, 3 days ago on Tuesday 12 November 2019, Nonthaburi immigration office.
First hand experience of Extension of Stay for Non-Immigrant O-A was rejected at the Nonthaburi immigration office because the insurance that the applicant has is a foreign insurance from Allianz. The Allianz policy has vastly greater coverage (1 million USD instead of 400,000 THB) but it was rejected on the grounds that it was not a local Thai company.
The implementation of this otherwise reasonable idea is greatly messed-up. In pre-announcements it was always and everywhere confirmed that foreign health insurance policies would be acceptable as long as they met the minimum requirements of 400,000 THB (in-patient) and 40,000 THB (out-patient).
But when the regulation came out (see attachment), it clearly states "(6) Only for an alien, who has been granted Non-Immigrant Visa Class O-A, must buy a Thai health insurance online which covers the length of stay in the Kingdom with no less than 40,000 baht coverage for outpatient treatment and no less than 400,000 baht for inpatient, via the website longstay.tgia.org".
The Nonthaburi immigration office was apologetic and friendly and encouraged me to make a photo of the regulation (see attachment), because they also cannot really help it that the regulation came out as it did. Their recommendation was to change-over from Non-Immigrant O-A to Non-Immigrant O.

I read sometime ago that the Gov was also working on a promotional package for these outcasts called "expats".
Is there any news about that?
