    1. If you make a deposit, make a copy of the agent's ID-Card and take a receipt.
    2. If it give problems, open a case at the Consumer Protection Board. They handle it free for you and bring it if must to the court.

I went to the Consumer Protection Board last year. It is a shocked that only 3 officers were there. I can say I wasted my trip going there and a day and half talking about my complain, only to say they can't force the landlord if she's out of the country. What made me more angry was they didn't even type or put it on a database at least to show that you filed a complaint. So the next time you'll come over to follow up, you'll have to repeat yourself again. Good luck with that.

  2. I also tried to contact 1337 to complain about my landlord who did not follow the contract and any agreement. The lady on the line listened to me and said will try her best to contact my landlord. I kept following up for weeks now and it's annoying how I kept repeating explaining myself.

I gave up Thailand. This is my 3rd time that I have problems with landlords and agents, where do we complain them if the whole government system is broken? Do we always have to give in and accept that "this is bs, forget and move on".??!!

  3. Hi everyone,

Does anyone came across hiring a thai translator for a labour case? I've read lots of posts here about their experiences but have not mention about hiring a translator.

Even though the officers can understand and speak English, they require me to get a Thai translator. If anyone has resource where can I hire per day, please let me know.

    Thanks,

  4. Hello All,

I didn't know that there will be lots of people here ????

I have posted the same question. I was relocated here too due to work and I fall in love living in Bangkok.

One of few who suggested "make Thai friends" -- obviously, most of us has met one or two Thai friends here.

I'm surrounded with Thai colleagues and yes I also joined a club where I learned Thai lessons every week.

I do like exploring a lot and going to places and yes cooking. I have decorated my condo and been planting for months now.

Not so often but I tried to join meetups but these are not stable to have genuine friends or connection. It's either they are newly married and no kids yet, husband is at work.. or they consistently show up to these events (and I don't know what's their intention of meeting random strangers then move on to the next event... bottom line is I don't want to waste my time with these things).

So the essence of this thread is to make friends with all the ladies, someone to hang out with. Not DATING. Cultivate richer values, experiences, shared hobbies.

  5. They also did the same thing to me. Hello! It's already year 2020 and no one has cut the balls of these culprits.

I wish I could have found this thread before I flew my two dogs from Manila to Bangkok. I felt that they took my dogs as hostage and I can't just move on what they are doing to farangs like us. It's not OKAY!!

Has anyone tried to report them? How come this was an ongoing scam?? I took their photos and I'm planning to publicize everything!!

I brought my 2 dogs over from uk in 2007 paid £1500, arrived in thailand new airport i was met by my thai wife, we went to the animal office  was then told to go to a place opposite Luthuhansa goods warehouse, we were met by a bossman 2 other assistants.

In which they sat me and my thai wife at a table, bossman sat opposite us both and the 2 assistants standing at the door entrance.

Bossman proceeded to say to me (YOU LOVE YOUR DOGS YES) i looked at my wife ,i knew what was coming he said to my wife he wanted the equivalent of £800, yes i did write £800.

Through my wife i proceeded to negotiate down WE ARRIVED AT     £300  .I thankfully had £2000 on me, god knows what would have happened to my dogs(babies) if i hadn't any cash on me.They brought my dogs out to us in my airline boxes, they were healthy tails wagging. We hired a toyota commuter van and driver and went to our home. Sadly both are dead now, they had good a good 10 years running around our land .

The lesson here is bring cash, lots of cash. Its not the money !! its because the first time in my life i was backed into a very uncomfortable place, i loved my dogs, they know people love their pets  very very wicked people.

Because nothing in the land of smilers is free.

I HOPE THEY DIE SCREAMING IN A CORNER ALONE .

And this is still happening right now.

I wish I could have found this thread before I flew my two dogs from Manila to Bangkok. Same thing happened to me. I felt that they took my dogs as hostage and I can't forgive these corrupt people.

THey asked me 22, 000 THB. I replied "I don't have money". I can only pay for the import fees which is 1000 THB and 3000 THB for customs. I kept saying these to them and I was there for 4 hours. Finally, they gave in and lowered the price for 9, 600. I asked for the receipt and guess what... they can only come up with the receipt worth 6, 000 THB - like I thought so! And my two dogs were out from a hot warehouse. If my two dogs died out of exhaustion and heat, I will have no doubt to shoot their peanut brains.

Has anyone tried to report them? How come this was an ongoing scam?? A very long one indeed for such SCAM!! I took their photos and I'm planning to publicize everything!!

  7. Lastly, Emquartier's Gourmet Market is selling rosemary for only 110 baht.

There's also a small flower shop near Fullerton Ekkamai selling Arabica plants for 250 baht and some ornamental plants but I find it expensive.

  8. And here's from Suan Luang. Thanks to this article, I bought my herbs.

How to get there: Take BTS Sukhumvit all the way to Kasetsart station. You'll see the bus terminal 5 feet away. you can ride bus number 39 or the airconditioned bus 51. It's 12 stops before you reached the 11th Infantry Regiment. Maybe next year if they finish the BTS line all the way to 11th Infantry, it will be more convenient.

I bought peppermints and basil for only 15 baht, and tomatoes for 30 baht. They also have rosemary and other herbs but they told me "it's finished." so best time to go there is on Sunday mornings. I took them home via bus and bts.

  9. Hello folks, I just want to share some updates on where to buy house plants especially if you are in Sukhumvit.

Tops Supermarket (Mracle Mall) in Sukhumvit 41 is still selling ornamental plants, orchids and few herbs like peppers. I haven't seen basil or peppermint.

Here's Phra Khanong, Sukhumvit 71, in Pridi Banomyong 36?? (not sure about the alley number). You will passed by Makro and Max Valu supermarkets. The small potted flowers are 30 baht while the ponsettias are around 150 baht. Tops Supermarket sells their ponsettias at 120 baht, which is cheaper.

  10. I have the same problem right now. I have custom made furniture back in Manila and now I'm in Bangkok due to work relocation. I tried selling them online but due to high price, no one wants to take it. It will be such a waste to have it sold as "scrap".  The items are one huge round ottoman around 3 feet that can be a day bed, a console table and a kitchen trolley.

I contacted Royal Cargo from the Philippines and they have a branch here but no answer.

    Can someone please help me?

  11. I tried to find Budsaba Plant Nursery in Sukhumvit 63 in Ekkamai like what the previous post said that they deliver. I went there around lunch time, the place is unnoticeable on Soi 6 on the left hand side of Big C since they put the signs in Thai (I can't read what plants they are selling). And they have few selections now than years ago I think the thread was posted. I wasn't able to see any plants except few cactus and ornamental plants piled up on their garage and more soil, fertilizers. Maybe it was just not my lucky day.

There's a lady who told me that I have to go to Phra Khanong that they have huge selection from herbs to fruit bearing trees in Soi 28. I will try to go over the weekend and see! Good luck with that.
