I take back what I said I would not buy these axle stands from the company I did after research
They are not safe, it's a poor design.
The pin lulls you into a false sense of security.
If you bump the lever it disengages the lever blocking the black part'd teeth that supports the car weight directly.
Then the pin only is holding the weight of what you have put on the axle stands and it is only just holding the black support teeth by a mm or 2..
If it fails and the aluminium is supposed to hold 1.5 or 3 ton I'm not sure which I doubt it is strong enough to do that often.
I'll add two videos mine is the red one and the correct model is the grey one from a review on YouTube.
The grey one actually blocks the lever from disengaging from the black support teeth. It's much safer.
Sorry about the recommendation earlier.

Lazada has a 2•5 ton trolley Jack .
and then just use standard axle stands which can fix and adjust height with a pin.
Thank you Kwasaki! ????
i did order a 2.5 ton Smart trolley jack for 1100baht including delivery
thats was the cheapest with good reviews on the jack and shop
many good reviews on the smart jack
i bought an axle stand at a car shop in phuket with pins made out of a tube and then cut and pieces of metal support welded to make the legs and feet
when I got home the welds weren’t full or secure and in hindsight the axle stand only had 3 legs
i returned because i didn’t feel safe going under it
I’d read of accidents with axles stand failing and killing people
McBenq above sent me this link
http://www.mcmachinetools.com/product/102/ขาตั้งแบบเฟือง-stand-jack-gear-type
I just ordered this one
it’s got 2 safety steps with the ratchet and the pin is something fails
it’s what I was looking for
thank you for your advice
thanks Pete

Whether you might find them in a shop in Phuket?
Can't help with that.
Thank you so much McBenq
i ordered from Mcmachine tools
the man speaks very good english
750baht with free 2 day delivery
they are exactly what I was looking for
I looked on Lazada and shopee and google shopping for a long time
But I couldn’t find an axle stand like this with a pin as a 2 second safety feature
i had seen them in America with good reviews
in the states a whole line of these axles stands without a pin lock were recalled when the ratchet failed and a man was cracked under a car!
I saw recently a thai man crushed under a car while working on it in the news
it’s better to have 2 safety features incase one fails
The cheapest I could without a pin online was 545baht but many of the same brand and model were priced over 1000baht
funny thing is they are the exact same axle stand besides the pin and the one with the pin is rated 2 ton and the ones without are rated 3 ton
on a YouTube video review of one with a pin the box was rated 2 ton but the sticker on the axle stand was rated 3 ton!
made in China! ????
thank you again
now I can do my oil change and Tyre rotation with a better nights sleep

Hello,
I'm looking for some axle stands. There are quite a few ratchet axle stands available. But I’m looking for ones with an additional locking pin for safety.
They are the same as the ratchet ones but have a pin to stop it falling if you knock the lever.
does anyone know where I can buy them?
I've found them in Japan but the shipping and import fees are high.
thanks you.
cheers Pete

My last car used a wet battery and 2 years was about all I was getting from one.
4 years ago I bought a very good condition 2003 VIOS for 159,000 baht that had a brand new set of Michelins and apparently a new battery because its been a month over 4 years now and still no problems with the battery
That's great!
I hope we have the same result with our new battery
thank you

My thoughts exactly: 2019 Honda needs a new battery??? What!!!
I also have used Amarons in my pickup for the last 5 1/2 years. The first one lasted 3 years, the current one is getting a tad sluggish after 2 1/2 years. I'll probably change it on it's 3rd birthday in November.
Edit:
OK, just saw this:
"the battery going flat was because the interior light was left on for 16hours plus. So it’s our own fault.
Also we have a dash cam hooked up that it functions when the car is off with a sensor so I think a combination of the two lead to end of the battery"
But you really should've charged it first! They can go flat and then get recharged without problems.
We did try to get it recharged but after doing that the battery had less charge than before so we were forced to buy a new battery.
We've had the battery a week now and there are no recharging problems and the car works well.
I make sure I switch off the air-conditioning now and close any windows or mirrors before we turn the car off to prolong the battery.

i would go with a Amaron battery, something like this - แบตเตอรี่ อมารอน Amaron GO รุ่น 65D26 R/L | Shopee Thailand,
i would also check that everything is ok with your charging system as 2 years is a short life for a car battery
Thanks Steve.
I ended up getting an Amaron Battery
I found a shop called Phuket Alai who are a car parts and accessories shop
one is on the bypass and the smaller one is near mission hospital.
They were the cheapest and they look like they have been around a long time and are reputable.
The Amaron has a 2 year warranty and they said just bring it back with the receipt and they will replace it within that time frame.

Hi.
We had similar when the cat wouldnt eat after being fixed.
I waz worried wnough to ask for advice on here as well.
We were advised to go back to the vet as an infection could have set in and she was 3 or 4 days without food and as skinny as it gets.
The vet gave us a nutri gel thing and anti biotics. 2 days after injecting the gel into her mouth she was hungry again.
Maybe your little friend needs similar.
Hope the doggy gets better mate, good luck.

Hello,
I need to get a new car battery for my car tomorrow in Phuket.
Any recommendations where to go to get one?
I live near monument but don't mind driving for good service and value
Any suggestions on which are the best batteries in Thailand?
I hear "GS" have a good reputation.
We have a 2019 Honda BRV 1.5.
Many thanks,
Pete

Hello,
our little old dog had an operation to remove an eyelid a week ago because of a tumor and since she is not eating her biscuits
we have managed to get her to eat some lightly fried chicken, have tried steamed chicken which she has eaten a little
she eats fried more
some canned tuna too but I read even spring water tuna can have too much mercury in it
she doesn’t seem to like canned dog food
also steamed and fried pork but it’s not as easy for her to eat as it’s harder
i would like to get some low sodium stock flavoring so she finds her food irresistible and we can cook it slowly to make it soft and easy to swallow
she is really fussy and would only eat her biscuits before.
any ideas in phuket where I can get low sodium/low salt stock or online?
I don’t read thai so it’s a struggle to find the ingredients of the stock.
any suggestions of stock or any other ideas for her to eat I would appreciate.
many thanks

In the south of the island, we use PAWS on Kwang Road in Wichit.
https://www.phuket.net/directory/profile/phuket-animal-welfare-society-paws/
and RTB Animal Hospital on Chaofa East Road.
https://www.phuket.net/directory/profile/rattanatibeth-referral-animal-hospital-phuket/
Both have good diagnostic facilities, with RTB open 24/7.
Thank you so much I like that they have good diagnostic facilities
We had to have a test sent away to bangkok to check what antibiotics the strain of bacteria was resistant too that took a week to get results for her toe.
In the week her toe became so infected that the leg was then removed
so it would be good to get prompt test results

Hello,
Is there a Veterinarian or somewhere in Phuket that does Cryotherapy for dogs? (freezing tumours etc)
Our dog has a cyst under her eye and is that large that if it was removed she would loose the function of her eyelid.
Poor thing had an infection in her toe, but it got that bad she had to have her whole leg removed in January.
Many thanks,

Hi Pete
Currently the system in Phuket will only accept people with Thai ID numbers. I believe there is a plan to expand this but no idea when!! I am here on a retirement visa so have been unable to register also. My friend has lived here in his condo for 10 years but only has the blue book for his condo so no Thai ID. He is in the process of changing his blue book to yellow which will then give him a Thai ID.
Sorry, but we need to wait.....
Thank you so much ????

Before proceeding, read all the divorce threads as you will hopefully know all the traps to come and able to avoid them.
Eg, don't "give" sinsod, but if at all only for show and get back, don't live near the family, don't buy them cars or houses in their name etc.
I think the letter from country embassy is cheaper from NZ embassy that British, but not sure if can apply on passport without visa.
You should understand that your pension will be reduced after marriage if you are on a NZ one.
thank you so much ????

Hello,
I was wondering if people on Covid visas included for the free covid vaccine in Phuket?
I thought new said it included everyone for free vaccines in phuket.
But when I tried to register online on April 20th it wouldn't let me when I processed the online form.
The only thing I can think is I don't have a thai resident number.
I just put my passport number down.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Get a repair/replacement quote first from the authorized Apple repair shop in Central Festival, then go around to a few of the IT shops in the adjacent IT hall to see whats the best price/quality they can offer.
Or try a google search. You will probably find a non-official china copy replacement of the watch face for self installation, but the quality would also be iffy.
Thank you so much

Hello,
I broke the screen on my Apple Watch 4 today.
Any suggestions in phuket for the cheapest way to repair?
Can you do it yourself?

Hello,
any suggestions of insurance companies to use for medical insurance.
I’m 50 years old in good health.
What kind of price range high and low would I be looking at?
I guess the sky is the limit for how high.
Something for adequate cover.
I’m guessing once your here your better off insuring yourself from within Thailand?
many thanks.

Phuket Vaccine Astrazenica/Sinovac?
in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Posted
Hello,
I read in the Bangkok Post and other publications that now if someone has had one Sinovac vaccine the next will be an astrazenica shot because of decreasing antibodies of 50% from the Sinovac vaccine every 40 days
I also read that they would not be giving Sinovac as a first shot, second shot or booster shot any more.
I was supposed to be going in for my vaccination today but hadn't confirmed my appointment when I saw my two vaccines were going to be Sinovac.
Does anyone know if it has been confirmed if first shots of vaccine in phuket now will be astarzenica?
Many thanks,
Pete
