If they have a UK tourist Visa stamped in their passport do they need any other Docs to change aircraft in Amsterdam?

Hi. If I apply for a Non O visa Single entry from the Thai consulate in London can I then apply for a 1 year retirement visa in Thailand after the 90 days has finished? Or do I have to leave the country to get the yearly Retirement visa?
