  1. stats are very easy to manipulate, first hand data better. That's the scarey bit, what i see is a tiny cross section, you've got that all accross the nation. I agree it's the lower classes normally involved with these types of crime. I'm sure Peter can speak for himself and does not need you. This thread has nothing to do with suicides. No, i did not read it, i've not returned for more that 17 years now, it was becomming a very violent country even before then. Nothing that happens in the UK interests me except for EPL.
  2. There opinion won't change, thai family structure is very peculiar. I know a girl, her father abndoned her and her mother when she was young, she'd not seen him for 20 years +. She bumped in to him one day and it was all hugs and smiles, giving him money, buying food etc, very strange!
  3. No, i see it in real life, i hear about it from real people where i live. I don't need the stats. Move to a Thai village and live for a year and tell me there's only a small amount of domestic violence.
  4. Started 'The Puppet Master' last night on Netflix, looks good after one episode.
  5. I'd say the amount of domestic violence cases that are reported here are only the ones where death occurs and it can make a news story. Domestic violence is a daily even for many many thai women in this country, there will be little stats due to very low % ( if any ) reported. Always happy to chime in with "this could happen in the Netherlands" comment tho.......
  6. What's your interaction with Thai males been throughout your time here? Ever lived in a rural Thai village, seen what goes on there? Ever seen what goes on at construction site camps? Your interaction i would assume is very minimal and your Thai friends ( if you have any ) will not be from the same 'class' as the people doing these crimes. It's easy to say 'it happens in my country' but there is no way it's as common as what it is here.....no way!
  7. Your standard comment, There's not way you're telling me that the amount of domestic violence in Thailand is the same as western countries. If you could read the Thai newspapers or watch the news you'd be surprised, there's multiple cases like this every single day.
  8. For sure it's all over the place, the numbers being reported are complete nonsense, you could add at least one zero on the end of the amount of cases reported. The good thing is that there's little news about serious cases or hospitals being overwhelmed.
  9. It's getting easier and easier to travel by the weak, restrictions are now finally starting to be reduced throughout the world. The end is in sight IMO.
  10. Northern thailand at this time of year is great.
  11. What did you enjoy about Phitsanulok? Phrae and Lampang both nice enough places and great temp this time of year although i believe not very pleasant during 'burning season'
  12. You can take precautions yes but you're never safe online - fact.
  13. So you're never gonna go outwith walking distance from you're condo in central Pattaya?
  14. Those numbers for Chonburi can't be anywhere near the truth, i know >25 people that have had it and i don't know so many people.... Total waffle, maybe they're lottery numbers?
  15. This is the only way crimes are solved here. It's crazy how willingly people 'grass up' each other in this country.....
  16. Maybe this is why he was attacked, high dollar handbag? Not sure why men bother with these tbh, never found the need for one myself, plus they're a tad well, you know....
  17. He'd still be able to complete the Thai pass process based on arriving from Singapore before travelling from original departure point tho, right?
  18. It's a good question. I would suspect that if your first country of departure and Singapore are both on the approved list a total of 21 days between the 2 countries would be ok.
