Thousands and thousands of foreigners who have been extorted/ripped off in Thailand could ask that question too.

I often wonder what the total figure would be say over the last 30 years. Did that Irish guy in Phuket ever get anything back?

Money went to top brass of the cops division. He was the mastermind with the senior investigator. He dispersed the funds and assets how he chose to.

Nah, you'll probably fall off a balcony if you do.

This case is one of the greatest examples of, "never bring more money to Thailand than you need for immediate living expenses"

My Thai health insurance policy is to never be worth anything to any Thai if I'm dead (or in prison).

I'd rather leave than put 800k in a Thai bank account and risk my gf killing me to get it.

It's good that he's been finally released though.

Never trust a Thai and your ok

I'm wondering what government so-called stimulus has ever worked for any one but them, their families, and buddies.  I don't know of one that has ever worked for the everyday person...

If you truly want a stimulus to work, take the trillion dollars, baht, or whatever currency and distribute it tax free to the people, then watch the economy go crazy as the people buy the things they need with it...

I remember Obama's trillion dollar stimulus that even he admitted a couple of years later was a complete failure...saying "ahhh it wasn't exactly shovel ready" with the money gone to the banks, other financial corporations, and corporations of CEO's that backed him...  Taxpayers money given away as free gifts.  This was proven by a Wall Street Journal reporter who wrote about it.

And the Thai gov't wants a stronger baht....

They are stealing the money they don't give it all. Don't be silly.

I followed this and the headline is very misleading. Yes a letter was sent but it was a mistake. He made his money legally. His mistake was to flant it. I am shocked and very surprised that he has been released as all his assets have gone (some would say stolen). His story should be compulsory reading for any rich weastener thinking of retiring to Thailand. Very pleased he is out and look forward to his story (I hope his wife is with him so he can speak freely and truthfully).

He was setup.by corrupt law eenforcment who paid the judge. Prayut 6 year term has been laughable

The Brit was completely out of order. For all the petty stuff some foreigners get lifted for, this degenerate needs to be hauled in and seriously taught some manners.

You might be right but why are people on this site so angry when a Thai girl decides to redistribute wealth from a foreigner to herself while your advocating it.

Maybe because its easy to advocate it when its not your money that will be divided always easier to point at an other.

This lil girl has a horrible mom and i don't believe its just money. Its just that her new husband does not want her.

People who are poor should not take too many kids. I myself never took kids as a choice. I wonder why everyone always needs kids even if they cant afford them.

    I agree

It's an absurd notion that a country whose currency is at a 6 year high against the global reserve currency, the US Dollar, can be considered a currency manipulator. It just so happens that Thailand has always been more of an export economy than one designed to thrive on services. They export large amounts of agricultural products and also have the #1 auto manufacturing hub in Souteast Asia, exporting to many other nations. This is one of those anomalies like Body Mass Index where a very fit bodybuilder is considered obese by looking at the chart.....to be ignored.

Nope they were floating there currency
