Chinese tourists requirements are not the same as for westerners.... Thailand is banking 100% on Chinese, they really don't (appear) to care about westerners or us expats

When Vietnam opens. Thailand will have civil war. Yes your correct. But the Prayut administration is finished. He is to stupid and arrogant to see it. Let them destroy Thailand. He will need to relocate later.

Speak for yourself. Where did I claim that the phantom virus was "released by the Chinese"?

Well you need to have followed the virus from day 2 and have a good insight. I only speak for myself. My background allows me insight. Number one virus landed in there global debt locations with pin point accuracy.

    My opinion only. Thank you.

Yes, one bloke was in there pushing the others away. There wasn’t that much in it really, the boyfriend died 10 days later.

This topic will bring out the thaibashers, but this stuff with young blokes, women, testosterone mixed in with alcohol happens all over the world.
No weapons used, if it was the USA maybe he would have been shot, stabbed in the U.K. or glassed in Australia.

Stupid, one life lost and others ruined. Sad for the old mum.

But we western tourist spend the cash ... not like indians who buy a coke from 7/11 and 5 straws or chinese that are given vouchers to spend but only good in chinese owner businesses.... yes thailand another province of china

Western tourists form a bond with the people and Thais also do the same. This translates to ongoing support at street level. Although Prayut and his henchman missed that. Evident when farangs were giving away there pensions in Pattaya during the outbreak to feed Thais. What a terrible gov. A joke really.

Yup. Wont be a Thailand left by then. The current administration best accept that covid is already in the country.  Has the population been tested?  Didnt think so. Unlike other asian countries they test and isolate. Wonder how a korean solder got covid after being in Thailand 1 month.  Vaccine and a weaker baht might give tourists an incentive to return.  Expats thats spent millions of baht  have been thrown to the curb. Many will now find new welcoming countries that dont look down on them.

I'm in the philippines easy no issues. No visa problems. No stress No rude Thai woman.

OK...this is what it states:"SARS-CoV-2 in the Vero cell cultures were confluent 3 days after the first blind passage of the sample. Coronavirus was confirmed with spherical particle having a fringe reminiscent of crown on transmission electron microscopy. Phylogenetic analyses of whole genome sequences showed that it clustered with other SARS-CoV-2 reported from Wuhan."

Notice how they say "confluent" which means "merging" because that's how far they got.

It also states that "it clustered with other SARS-CoV-2 reported from Wuhan." (Not entirely isolated, BIG DIFFERENCE)

Regardless what they call this thing it is statistically less deadly than pneumonia and to use it to destroy the economies of entire nations is by far more damaging than this flu virus.

    Don't believe the hype.

Thank you finally someone with a brain. The Chinese virus released to destroy.

    Global Public Goods ?

The vaccines ( when they are completely tested and ready ) belong to the Pharma Companies. Of course some Governments will be first in the Que, as they have provided Funds and Expertise to to the Companies.

They are the ones that have invested Billions of Dollars into finding these Vaccines, and they should have their rewards financially for all the Knowledge and hard work.

I am not so sure it is nepotism. If it is Prayut making this decision then I suspect it has more to do with ass protection armoury. Thammanat is a vital cog in the wheel of winning elections for the PPRP. He is Prayut's numbers man and ballot box fixer. He is often lurking in the shadows of polling booths. Like he was  at the recent Samut Prakan by-election which the PPRP handsomely won. Also it wouldn't surprise anyone if he knows more than he should about cerain individuals and needs to be kept happy. The appointment of his wife and another income should put a smile on his face. And why otherwise would a convicted crimal who has spend jail time dealing drugs be made a deputy minister?

Airbnb: Thailand Geared up for Digital Nomads and Work-Cations
Five reasons why Thailand is a preferred destination for living and working anywhere

Bangkok, Thailand, 11 November 2020 - As travel sees a comeback across Thailand in the new normal, Airbnb sees an emerging trend to extended work-cations around Thailand as people look to combine work, travel and living.

According to a recent YouGov survey commissioned by Airbnb 87% of Thai people found an extended work-cation appealing. With an increased desire and ability to work from anywhere, Airbnb share five reasons why Thailand is a preferred destination for digital nomads.

    1) Diverse locales
Whether you prefer mountains or beaches, cities or off-the-beaten-path destinations, Thailand can cater to all types of work-cation. The cool and mountains of the north, the history of the central plains and the world-class beaches on the Andaman and Gulf coasts, the options for an inspiring work-cation are limited only by your own imagination.

    2) You’ll never go hungry
Thailand is famous for its cuisine and dining out is a part of daily life. You don’t have to be in the heart of a city to find great food options, the quietest rural neighbourhood can spring a food surprise and with street vendors ubiquitous the food options are endless. If you want to take your work-cation to the next level and learn how to cook, then take advantage of some great Airbnb Cooking Experiences.

    3) Culture immersion and new experiences
Thailand is a land of diversity and from one destination to the next, cultural nuances abound. These can manifest in local dialects, beliefs and even cuisine! From reefs to rainforests to national parks and mountains, Thailand’s natural gems are complemented by the hospitality of local communities, their handicrafts and local way of life. These regional highlights are what makes a work-cation in Thailand so exciting; being able to combine work and travel with new experiences in vibrant local communities can be food for the brain and inspiration for the mind.

    4) Connectivity
Thailand has fast and reliable wifi coverage throughout the country making the opportunity to work from anywhere, real. All you need is a laptop and you can connect with anyone, anywhere in the world at any time through Thailand’s omnipresent wifi.

Thailand also has impressive transport facilities - domestic flights, interprovincial rail and bus, and an extensive road network - making it easy to get around in the country and to explore new areas anytime from your work-cation base.

    5) Location, location, location
Thailand’s recently launched Special Tourist Visa is the first step in re-opening the country and attracting long stay international travellers. A well connected aviation hub with more than four billion people living within a 6-hour flight, the country’s central location makes it easily accessible and a popular destination for digital nomads. Its proximity to regional business centres means short business trips are easy; leave your Airbnb in the morning and be back in time for an evening swim and sundowners.

An established tourism destination that welcomed almost 40 million international visitors in 2019, Thailand remains popular with long-term visitors. And as the region starts to reopen borders, Thailand is well positioned to become the destination of choice for work-cations.
