Bill's in business. Work it out - if government orders all hotels shut, Minor can claim, along with everyone else, for subs to help them out when things get back to normal. Closing of his own volition, as some of his rivals have done, would not attract the government money.

Poland will be relieved.
Note that Germany has an extremely low death rate from The Virus - a third of one percent - compared with some other countries with a lot of cases.

Why do people keep repeating this nonsense?
Wearing a mask offers more protection than not wearing a mask. Tired of reading this oft repeated nonsense.
And many others are getting tired of people like you refusing to accept experts' advice which fails to coincide with your level of panic. Pull yer head in.

Leave and go where? Unlike you, obviously, many TV users live here and have family here. You suggesting we should all just p3ss off and leave wife and children?
Did the operation hurt?

guess I am in a minority. But not as small a minority as the number of people who will actually catch this flu.

Misleading headline, non-story. Implication that any old farang can claim, but in fact - and quite reasonably - only the small number who qualify for the Thai state system.

I think it is unlikely you will be able to travel on the 30th unless you can meet the twin requirements of medical certificate and proof of insurance and/or rules change.
Sheryl, welcome back!
Another thread from yesterday had a sample medical certificate blank:
no guarantees, of course, as to whether this is real or would stand up for an IO. But I have seen many reports in foreign media (AU, UK etc) of GP surgeries telling people not to even think about trying to get one signed.

OP is right - there are many benefits from the new panic.
EG: it's weeks now since anyone heard from little Greta Thunberg.
Let's have more suggestions for why The Virus might be a Good Thing.

Just what is your problem with every poster? Almost no-one agrees with your assertion that we should all wear masks because you have been here since 1945 and therefore know better than Thais what Thais want us farang to do. Now you know ridership on BTS has trebled overnight. Is your mask over your eyes?
Masks are of NO use.

He said that six types of establishment have been ordered shut for 14 days from today
"six types of establishment".
Then there is a list of six types, but "pubs" doesn't appear.
I may be clutching at straws (not plastic ones, of course), but does that mean there is a chance yer ordinary boozer might be spared?
Also, has anyone any info about neighbouring provinces, notably Samut Prakan?

The USA is crashing now with NYC becoming like Wuhin soon. Reports school's will not open again this year. Hellish conditions at the airport with people in huge groups together for hours returning from everywhere in the world.
There again, why would anyone not in the US give a 4x? You think you are important?

As I write, CM is third worst place in the world for pollution - down from top spot for several days. While I'm sorry for any TV readers stuck there,
1. coronavirus would be a blessing compared to the air they breathe
2. who in h@ll would want to go there anyway?

He may be well-known (I've never heard of him but so what?). But he's plain wrong. Check the facts: new confirmed cases (worldwide) hit a peak of 16.2k on March 13 and have dropped each day since (7.3k on 11th, 2.5k on 12th, 11.6k on 14th, 6.6k on 15th).
"Exponentially"? Bollllox.

There's a headline right now in the Sydney Herald saying: "People in Britain aged over 70 will be instructed by the government to stay in strict isolation for four months as part of a planned response to coronavirus." No further details yet though.
Fer chrissake don't let the Anutin muppet read this - it could decimate Pattaya....

OP: load of bollllox. This thing, in the great scheme of things, is so minuscule as to be irrelevant really. You, and most other folk focusing on media, are going way over the top as to treat it as the apocalypse.
Wash your hands all you want, isolate for 12 months etc, after which you'll get royally bitten on the bottom.
Going forward, most logical option would be for all to be exposed with a little bit to fire the immune system.
Well said! Global panic my @rse. Global loss of perspective, more like, coupled with incompetent regimes' fear of getting sued. We should all be sneezing on lawyers and pollies.

They're not all shut! Eg. Vasu wasn't closed yesterday and it is not closed today, either.
I walked past two booths in about 200 metres yesterday afternoon in that area that were open as usual. And the banks are not "laying-off" staff, some have been sent home for temporary self-isolation as has been widely, and quite clearly mentioned.
Hardly worth arguing. All ones I saw were closed. I didn't state they are laying-off, I was implying. Hence "might".

you don't think closing FX shops (and yesterday walking Sukhumvit I saw all of them shut, not just the mentioned banks') might have something to do with hardly any tourists being here to exchange cash and the banks thinking they can save a bit by laying off staff (sorry, 'self-quarantining them')?

30 day visa extension notice
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I don't want to confuse things even more, but the link as you posted the update still refers to "tourist visa". Is there anywhere any suggestion they do actually mean all visas? (OP is on a non-imm).
This looks like the Brit embassy's own internal c*kup, as if we needed any more.
