Can they torture him for awhile before they exterminate him?
Why would anyone ask for torture? Do you derive pleasure from such an act? The history of this country is such that more often than not an innocent person is stitched up. Do you recall the case of the rape & murder of the two kids and how "Burmese" were blamed and convicted?
If you were given the opportunity to torture someone, would you do it? You know peeling the flesh off or pulling fingernails, or cutting open the body and pulling out organs etc. I find such things repugnant as do other emotionally stable normal people. Why don't you take some time to think over your request?

I do not want a Western therapist, they are pushy and politically biased and I got the impression they are only in it for their own reasons, rather than healthcare. This is why Asian resources would be valuble to me and others, who are going to Bangkok or Phuket anyway.
As opposed to what? Do not assume that Asian therapists are any better (or worse), as they have their own biases and common approaches. It's all about best fit. I expect that you probably had dealings with a western therapist and did not hear what you wanted to hear and are now looking for someone who will satisfy that emotional need. Your life, but these changes are forever changes so sometimes the western approach of thinking things through and careful consideration isn't so bad. BTW, do not listen to the comments that claim so many are on hormones, because they are not. The ladyboys are just very good at what they do, and have an advantage of not being overly masculine physiques to start with.

None of the measures mentioned concern crop burning. I guess that’s a more difficult target as it doesn’t involve simply setting up a tent at the side of the road waiting for a problem to come to you rather than doing some footwork. Besides, I don’t think any of the above are actually happening.
Can we start with something even easier? The leaves and rubbish burning. It's ridiculuous now. When driving through some very nice estates last week, I noticed that the maintenance/ground staff were burning piles of trash/leaves/branches etc., all at estates with significant farang populations. Maybe we need to look at our ownselves too.

Clooneys are not real celebrities. They appear in the media because they have a huge PR campaign behind them. If they stopped paying for that they would vanish from the public eye.
But George comes from bonafide American royalty too. His auntie was 300lb Rosemary Clooney best known for singing the virtues of toilet paper in her waning career days, and his father was a noted local news anchorman just like the very famous Ron Burgundy. Clooney's wife the noted human rights lawyer styled by the top fashion houses, has a lot in common with Markle when it comes to shallow opportunism, although Amal is educated and well spoken.
Frankly, I couldn't care less about Harry. He can get a cashier's job at Sainsbury's and aim for being employee of the month.

How odd that we have returned to Thaksin era tactics. I remember a time during the war on drugs when shoot to kill orders were military SOP. Some westerners got their knickers in a knot over that policy. Personally, I don't get involved in these domestic spats, but I don't want to end up collateral damage when some guy decides to take out at an assumed criminal.

I have the one going around now; Congested sinuses with blocked nose, sore throat.
Fortunately, my discharge is still clear, although I have a slight cough now. Been at this 3 days. My AC makes this worse as I am breathing through the mouth with the blocked nose and wow what a sore throat. Fortunately, ambient humidity clears it up within a few hours. I think the whole situation was exacerbated by the foul air quality. I am trying to limit decongestant use and was using Tylenol when I had the fever the first few days and it worked.

And you will be the one paying for our trash bags maybe ?
Not gulliuble, just socially responsible. The compliants coming are just so petty. No one is scamming. If you don't like the prices, go and take your business elsewhere. If you start paying for your trash bags, perhaps you will understand your costs and will act to minimize waste.
What I am reading in this thread are a bunch of clueless elderly folks complaining because of inevitable change. Uneducated, people living on the margins of society lashing out at anything "different". Thailand is catching up with the west and developed Asia. Get with the program or just go back to sittung on the stoop of your home yelling at passing traffic like crazy old codgers that the local kids avoid.

The concerns raised by the responders to my post mirror my wife's concerns. But I will always have to look after my family she knows this and is well aware of what I will do if required. This particular guy was trying to be a bully...if he was intent on causing harm it would've escalated and I would responded as appropriate. IMHO Thailand is full of these types and often they're not anywhere as dangerous when confronted.
You did nothing wrong and I offer that you were prudent. What the critics ignore is that sometimes these people have other goals in mind, like robbery or vehicle theft. Not an exaggeration but in the south it is not uncommon practice to cut a vehicle off or run it off the road and then plunder the occupants or steal the vehicle. All done under a minute. Whatever the motive, by keeping him behind you, you kept control of the situation. That's the key: Never let the aggressor gain control.

With all due respect; the deceased was under a UN ban on international travel. He was not supposed to be flying around. Iraq violated the UN sanction when it allowed his aircraft to enter. This tells me that sanctions apply to westerners only.

I have no idea why some people believe that this is funny. 35 people have died 48 were wounded, did they do anything to members of TVF?
Please show some respect for human lives. It could have been a friend, or a relative.
did they do anything to members of TVF?
Yes. They supported a vile murder who has murdered thousands and propped the Assad regime and sabotaged peace in Iraq.
Please show some respect for human lives. It could have been a friend, or a relative.
Not likely. However, it is more likely a friend or relative will be safer with these people gone.

Are you for real? The USA is stuck protecting other countries interests. If the USA was not there for Nigeria,Somalia, and Sudan, millions would die. The USA wants out of Syria and Afghanistan. Libya was European initiated, and the EU is pushing Syria because it wants the refugees to stop coming. Meanwhile Iran supports terror worldwide.

Really? The dead iranian was murdering long before Trump arrived. Hizbollah has been murdering under the patronage of Iran for 20+ years. Assad is in power not because of Trump etc.
I am troubled by the sight of Iranians paying homage to a dead murderer in Bangkok. Obviously a local base of terrorist supporters. The question is whether or not the Thai security agencies have noted this.

Call me crazy, but IMHO, Trump's "knee jerk" reaction will likely cost thousands of innocent lives. I'll bet he figured that wartime presidents are more likely to stay in office.
Imagine the horrendous price that may be extracted for such a stupid tactic/scheme.
Kneejerk reaction????? All he did was authorize the termination of a terrorist enemy of the west, who had been on the hit list for 10+years. His response to iranian threats, is in the language they understand. He is getting good advice from his security & defense experts.

Unreasonable claim. The bags cost a few satang and most of the companies had already pledged any savings to green activity. I saw the same complaints in western countries where bags were withdrawn: they were dismissed outright there as well.

Considering that he took his own vehicle and visited a place of certain activity in a very public area, I suggest that the basis of termination might have something to do with poor judgement and morals expected of a senior officer.
Despite what some on the forum think about Thais, the senior members of society to try and maintain a veneer of upright morality and propriety.

What about the westerners held hostage? The westerners who were tortured and murdered are nothing then? What of the ongoing support of Hizbollah and the support of the Assad regime?

I fear we will see a version of Australia's wildfires here. We were out on the weekend down Ch-Am way and it is scorched.. Lots of dry brush etc. Drastic action to stop the land burnings must be taken now and the government needs to purchase an enhanced fire suppression capability.

6 hours ago, RocketDog said:I am very sad to report, first hand, how this happened. I was literally sitting next to Mr. Cook in the Huahin IO when this happened. It actually happened the morning of Jan. 2, not 1 as was reported. The office was closed on Jan 1 of course.
Before he actually sat before the agent the staff was kind to him, finding him a comfortable chair near the desk until his ticket was called.
The young male agent spoke very good English as he gently and compassionately told Cook that he had not reported for 13 years and carefully asked him why he had not. The other agents witnessed the event and seemed stunned as well and appeared horrified, apparently knowing what would surely happen. The agent asked if he had a wife and he replied that he did. He said his wife told him he didn't have to report because he was married to a Thai. The agent asked him to call her and he said she was working. He seemed dazed, probably senile, and did not seem to comprehend what was happening. I cannot fault the staff's behavior in any way, but the commanding officer should have trouble facing himself in the mirror for quite some time to come.
At that point my 90 day report was done so my Thai GF and I left. We discussed it and fervently hoped the local office supervisor would use his discretionary power to mitigate the penalty. How foolish of us.
The man was more pale and weak than the pictures show, walking very slowly even with a cane. The man could not be a criminal even if it was his fondest ambition. He would probably fall and break a hip if he tried to kick a cat.
We will probably never know the whole story but apparently his Thai wife was not really taking care with his immigration status as one would hope she would, for whatever reason. It is probable that she loved him and was simply ignorant of the immigration law. The fact that she was working implies that he was not flush with retirement funds.
I'm guessing he has no future in Britain so this is likely a death sentence. I cannot imagine that this will help Thailand's image in any way.
If the immigration authorities treat him this way, a word to the wise, they will treat any of us the same way. It gives me pause to re-examine my own future here.
Very sad indeed.
The commanding officer has no reason to show remorse. He did his job as was his duty. Yes, it is a sad event, but please be reasonable and use common sense.
Of course he might look angelic now. 80+ year olds can look relatively harmless. You fixate on his present state, but what was he doing 15 years ago, or even 10?
Ok, his wife was allegedly taking care of his immigration file. What type of person moves to a foreign country and pays no attention or makes any effort to know what the regulations are? Your argument for looking the other way, expects one to believe that this man was oblivious to the rules, that he lived in a bubble, never having read a newspaper, listened to the radio or watched the television news in the past 13 years. What did he do for medical care? Without immigration status, no 30 baht piggyback for him. Was he one of the foreigners running up unpaid medical bills? Please.
It is an annoyingly too common scenario where men blame their girlfriends or wives for their predicaments. Never, ever, do we see women trying this excuse.
The man may very well have dementia and his wife grown weary of caring for him. Or, she may have been the typical woman in the "trade" who married him and she didn't know any better. I don't know. However, this too is not a legitimate excuse for the failure to comply with the regulations.
However, like you, I do hope he isn't put in the detention center if he is feeble minded or otherwise incapacitated as it will kill him.
It's events like this that strengthen the Thais resolve on the enforcement of minimum income requirements, and despite all the farang protestations to the contrary, the Thais are right.

Please explain, as my understanding is that the USA is energy self sufficient and exports oil. There are about 22 oil companies operating in Iraq. with the exception of minor player Exxon, all are non American with China, Russia, Egyp, Turkey, Japan, Korea, and other arab countries the dominant entities. BTW, Exxon is nominally American now.

LOL, seriously? The incident was done as an opportunistic event. These events are never signalled ahead of time. They can't be, because these guys travel under tight security, with a human shield entourage, including their wives and kids. The intent is that if they are taken out, the non combatant casualties causes upset. The guy was on the hit list for years, so no one should be surprised he was taken out.
I have an interest in this because this guy advocated hijackings and civilian targeting.

The criticisms of the BKK airport are unreasonable and come from people with no understanding of airport operations. The reality is that BKK is one of the world's largest and processes passengers at a rate comparable to other world airports. Yes, there are delays during peak hours, but this is the norm at EVERY major international airport. The airport expansion will improve baggage handling capability and the management of the additional aircraft already accepted and planned for. The people complaining are not frequent flyers and typically make a couple flights between the same international airports, perhaps once or twice a year if at all. Visit a frequent flyer forum and ask the people who fly into multiple international airports and who log 25+ long hauls in any given year what they think, and none of them complain about BKK the way the FOTSGs do on TVF. I fly out of BKK to multiple international airports and the ground experience from desk to gate is superior to that which I have experienced in the EU, LATAM, Africa, and North America. It is similar to ICN, and even HKG now. The airport has its faults, but is remarkably well run considering its size and certainly provides a less stressful experience than most large western airports.

Russia declared war on Japan as the USA defeated Japan. Korea had been occupied by the Japanese and the Russians swarmed in seeking to take control. The USA stopped the annexation of Korea by Russia. Had it not been for the action of the USA, much of Korea would now be enslaved.
17 hours ago, candide said:Since the war against ISIS/ISIL started until the time the US declared an economic war against Iran, how many Americans have been killed by Iran or the militias they control?
Ever hear of Hizbollah? Hamas? All are backed and supported by Iran. They are defacto armed militias of the Iran state. Iran through its proxies wages war and disrupts the Arab world. It threatens to fire missiles in Europe and at the USA. it holds western nationals hostage. It supports the Taliban.
Did you notice the reactions if the Iranian population outside the country? In Toronto they took to the streets celebrating. In the UK, they expressed relief and gratitude. However, in the Hamas controlled Gaza they protested . LOL. The Palestinians always pick the losing side, always line up with the murderers, just as they supported the Taliban, and the Iraq invasion of Kuwait, and the Muslim brotherhood repression in Egypt. Sunni Arabs hate them as much as they despise Iranians, so this is going to be interesting.
My prediction is that the Iranians were not expecting the US to pull a Putin response and to slice off an Iranian finger. They will behave for a bit longer now. That's how you deal with them.

Have you considered consulting with a qualified tax professional, actually competent to provide a reliable tax law opinion? It's like asking the local massage parlour for medical advice.
