While I'm not in a position to start a company at this time (thanks COVID19), appreciate the detailed info in your post about the Thailand-US Amenity Treaty. This is really good info.

Favorite quote from the article: "Twitter's response to this hack was astonishing. It's the middle of the day in San Francisco, and it takes them five hours to get a handle on the incident," said Dan Guido, CEO of security company Trail of Bits."
What kind of excuses do you think are flying around Twitter's offices right about now?

Seems the answer is always more loans
Loans are simply a clever, politically expedient way to make future tax increases seem a little less obnoxious.

I had similar troubles before and ended up swapping out the charging cord. Had to get one from the laptop manufacturer for it to last. Here's an article with some other ideas:

One of the (many) reasons I stopped using Facebook was the all too frequent messages from contacts saying they were stuck overseas and needed quick cash. After a couple reads, I could tell they'd been hacked, but still the heart strings were pulled for a moment and it got tiring. Surprised the scam still works.

It's really interesting to observe how the pandemic has thrust us forward into a new age of work, where suddenly, remote work, something lots of people hoped for but never thought they'd enjoy, is becoming common place.
Next though, I think people are going to feel more loneliness and isolation than ever. For many, going to the office is their only social life. Working from home will dry up that last source of human interaction. Not sure if our species was designed to be a hive of hermits.

18 months is plenty of history for a skilled online snoop to find pretty much all they need to know about you. Not much comfort there.

Where can we find a list of those extensions so we know whether or not they're on our machines?

Yep, I'm the reader who didn't know what a "travel bubble" was. For anyone else in the same boat, here's a definition I found:
"Travel bubbles, also called travel bridges or corona corridors, do away with that waiting period for a select group of travelers from certain countries where the coronavirus has been contained. “In a ‘travel bubble’ a set of countries agree to open their borders to each other, but keep borders to all other countries closed. So people can move freely within the bubble, but cannot enter from the outside,” says Per Block, an Oxford University researcher in social mobility and methodology. “The idea is to allow people additional freedom without causing additional harm.” Travel bubbles are an extension of one of Block’s research specialties —social bubbles, where people expand their quarantine zones to include more people they consider safe. Block is one of the authors of an Oxford study that suggests social bubbles could be an effective strategy to alleviating coronavirus isolation, although the findings have not yet been peer-reviewed."

I went from Android to Apple a few years back. Apple has been much more dependable on both software and hardware sides, so going to stick with Apple.

Good to see creative ideas being put into practice. Hope to see the economy return quickly.

Just updated my iPhone, then read this. Not a jailbreaker, so phew, I think I'm safe.
"Jailbreakers, iOS 13.5.1 is all about you. The release will break your jailbreak and, having so recently just got it, that will be a deal breaker for many. That said, there is a flip side to Apple’s actions, which I’ll discuss in the next section."
"For everyone else, 24 hours after release the response from iOS 13.5.1 upgrades is positive. Apple has not fixed the MP4 playback problems nor the boot loops in iPadOS, but it does not appear to have introduced any major new issues. There are isolated reports of texting and typing issues, flakey Bluetooth connections and battery drain, but nothing so far with any momentum to suggest a wider problem. Reddit’s popular iOS release thread also reports no major concerns and is in a jovial mood."

My favorites are still the Nigerian princes needing help getting millions out of the country. Maybe I'm just old school.

Still waiting... I keep thinking that update will come through any day now, and it doesn't.

There should be annual awards for the most creative scam artists. This one would be a runner up.
In a recent campaign, scammers were seen using the legitimate reCaptcha walls for a phishing email scam involving a fake Microsoft login page.

It's a struggle unlocking your phone with a mask on. Looks like Apple has caught on and is finally doing something about it.
Another shift to a new normal.

Intriguing. So the Thai's might skip the private investigator thing and jump right into violence?

Sounds like a good time to be in Thailand after all. Has the anti-farang rhetoric toned down a bit too?

How about starting a business that offers a special International health certificate to hotels and restaurants that shows they meet certain standards. You could provide a 6-month check, wall certificate, stickers for all the rooms and other facilities as well as online badges for websites and links to a record of your check and certification. Of course this wouldn't work for all hotels and restaurants but it might pan out if done right.
Other than that, I saw a bakery was selling cookies with funny faces with masks on them.???? How about I survived the Plague of 2020 Tshirts? Lots of assets will be up for sale cheap such as hotels, nursing homes, airplanes, tourist-related businesses, motorcycles, etc etc Plus with the world in massive slowdown, people will start selling their stuff if they are out of work. There is also going to be a trend to buy more locally as many govts were caught off guard on supplies for this. That might have value. Opening a temporary employee business might be strong again. Local online teaching via the net could be a new alternative to going to the tutoring schools. Many kids have experienced online learning now. Using delivery and online sales will increase as a lot of people who never tried it, now have and many will like it. Netflix and other entertainment online should do well.
As this cold season fades, the fear of a return or even worse cold season next year will get people to prep for it. Any useful new ideas for that could do well.
Wow, that's a lot of ideas! I can tell you are a big time optimist and already thinking about the good times ahead.
There will probably be a lot more people working from home after this, as companies realize that work still gets done, even without people coming into the office. Another realm of opportunity.

My niece works with a business that makes and sells fermented food. Very healthy. They are experiencing a pronounced bump in sales.
Other than that I would recommend becoming friends with Our Dear Leader in the US.
Good idea. I hear farmers are having to dump fruit and vegetables because they can't get to market. Switching to ferment mode, if the supplies are available, could be a good back up, and would surely help reduce food shortages that some predict are coming.
Is it the battery, charger or "something" else ?

If it's not a fake laptop or battery, then the battery will definitely last longer than a year. These aren't disposable Energizer or Duracell batteries we are talking about.
