  1. Unfortunately, this is very true. Businesses had the priority over all to get vaccinated. Not sure what you mean by Thai statistics?
  2. I have two AZ and my wife/friends as well. Besides that, fully vaccinated according to Thai records - 1 AstraZeneca is sufficient. Might have something to do that we have a business here and many of my friends did as well. So a little closer to the fire maybe than your social circle? My wife had 7 weeks between AZ and I had 8 weeks between. We were vaccinated at Chern Talay - Lagoon. Let me rephrase that, because I see what you mean. The governments doesn't need to steer the restrictions solely on found infections, but rather on people getting sick. Indeed it's not wise to simply stop measuring infected cases. I agree.
  3. Good man. I'll drink a beer on that (as it seemed you opened up multiple already).
  4. More than prior to the Sandbox...People have an income again Yes, it obviously does...People don't eat, get a haircut, go for a massage, go out for dinner!?? They do, and they pay for it. Helping locals more than "a bit". That would be the solution for Thailand as a whole. Not relevant as we talk about Phuket no? So dubbel vaccinated people entering Thailand works, but in Phuket it doesn't? Explain? What did you expect. Covid to magically disappear? Is that your expectation when you have a vaccination? There are barely "sick people" and almost no "deaths". As their are almost no restrictions, I would say it works very well. No <deleted> Sherlock. Of course it is to generate money. I don't know how much of a <deleted> wealthy give about the locals, nor do you nor is it relevant. Small businesses can open without the permission of "the wealthy" (whoever that may be), and tourist don't need to ask permission from "the wealthy" to spend money at local businesses. No <deleted> captain obvious.. Of course that would be better, but that has nothing to do with the sandbox working or not. It is funny though. Opening an island for vaccinated tourist "doesn't work" but doing it on a larger scale (opening a country) does work? Do you think it might have something to do with your salty ass not being on the island? Lol
  5. Yes I'm very negative about it. Stupid Sandbox. How dare they. I absolutely cannot deny that the hotels are getting all the money. I never realised that tourist don't go to; Local massage, eat street food, get a tattoo, get a haircut, shop at the local shops, use taxi services/tuktuks. They rather spend all the money at the hotels. I do admit that I absolutely agree with you. The solutions is to stop the sandbox all together ofcourse. That will teach those hotels and stupid locals getting money from those poor tourist. Money never trickles down, how naive of me. I also see now that I need to have a more pessimistic view on life. I just had a go at my wife and some random lady on Facebook. I have to say, it did made me feel better about myself.
  6. Yes, i'm all negative about the "litterbox" (if I say that right).
  7. So instead to focus on the AZ vaccine that is already locally produced here, you focus on creating a new vaccine that might or might not work? This is purely a financial decision...
  8. You are right. It is not working, please stay far away from here. We have more than enough grumpy, cynical old foreigners here who hate the world.
  9. No, I don't. I can only think of you meaning closing all markets out of precaution, however this seems to ridiculous, that I asked you for clarification. Yeah sure, let's disagree. Stay wherever you are and enjoy!
  10. Key word here is relative. It all depends on one's expectations. I never expected much people to come, but I'm positively surprised.
  11. Haha, up to you na krap. Stay in your lockdown in the rest of the country.
  12. Close the markets prior to vaccinations? Not sure what you mean by that. The Sandbox is working for the people in it. That is the only way to measure if it works. Not to be mean, but since you have no connection with the sandbox you're opinion is not really relevant. You telling us from your computer chair miles away that the sandbox is not working is a little odd mate.
  13. You had to see it mid June then. It was even worsts. Things are getting better. Better doesn't mean good... But we'll take it.
  14. Obviously I don't know all on the island ???? They closed off the market because that's what they would have done prior to vaccinations. In certain countries where the majority is vaccinated, we don't really count the infected anymore. I mean we still count them, but don't base the restrictions on those numbers, but rather on hospitalizations. We just came back from a great Friday night in Patong. A little tipsy, even though officially that is not possible ???? Come see it for yourself, you won't regret it!
  15. Nobody got shot down, lol. If so, where? You're missing the point, we All need to vaccinate, but Covid19 will never go away. We have to live with it, and the safest way is with vaccinations.
  16. Myself and everyone I know is fully vaccinated here. Being vacinated doesn't mean you cannot catch it. Check Israel or the UK. Sandbox is working better than I expected. The Thai government need to realise that they need to stop counting infections on the island but rather people who are actually sick (which is barely anyone). You clearly are not on the island. What makes you say it doesn't work if you're not here?
  17. Yeah sure, however the money will always trickle down one way or another. No Sandbox would have been much worsts for all businesses in Phuket.
  18. I'm living in Phuket and I'm very surprised at too how well it works. I have talked to complete families who are over here for a couple of weeks and are having a great time. Businesses starting to open, Patong looks more and more alive..It's definitely a boost for Phuket and many people are willing to take the risk. Thailand in general should open for double vaccinated people. Phuket shows it works, people want to come and they are very rarely a Covid risk for the domestic population (the opposite is probably more true).
  19. That's like asking my 12 year old son if I can borrow some money from him..
  20. Would a marriage visa be better or Thai Elite and stay single?
  21. Lol, are you serious? How should we know if you should marry or stay single. Do you love the girl? In regards to visa's, marriage is easy and doesn't cost much. Elite is even easier but you'll have to pay more.
  22. I believe we have similar banks and never ever had an issue. Thais are known to kind of "wing-it" if they don't know the answer for something. They just blur something out as that seems better than "I don't know". Not sure if that was the case here. I would try it with a different branch. Good luck.
