  1. I *think* we have TOT service (or should that be, "service"?) as that's the name that appears on the all-too-familiar screen saying the adsl is not connected. However, one of the papers listing the various packages has TT&T on it. Is is the same company or did this paper just get into the pile from the letterbox or something in the confusion of moving in ?

Anyway, must be quick here as who knows when the connection will plunge back into non-existence ... :o

Same experiences as the rest of you. Only had this "Maxnet HOME' package (1,000 baht/month) for a few weeks and it has been off more than on. Complaining brings the assurance that "the technician" (who must be a very busy person :D ) will come to check. When ? Today ? "Maybe today, maybe tomorrow...". Haven't seen this technician yet. It seems the connection comes back - usually briefly - an hour or so after phoning to complain but perhaps I am imagining things. I do wonder if they are rotating the service amongst us in some way.

What can we do to apply some consumer pressure here ? There must be something. I am quite new here so not sure what might be the best way to go about this but handing over the money for virtually no service is getting old very fast - don't you agree ? Group letter to somebody ? Any suggestions ?

  2. Can any of you suggest how to go about finding a part-time house cleaner ? We don't feel comfortable with the idea of a live-in maid. The (admittedly limited) enquiries made so far about getting someone to come a few times a week have led nowhere. Does this mean it is difficult to find such a person ? If it is, perhaps a few of us could get together to hire someone to clean our homes, thus offering full-time employment.

If not so difficult, are there companies I could call ? Putting an advert in English in something like Chiang Mai Mail doesn't seem like the right way to go.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

  3. I would love to be able to watch some American NFL on television here. The preseason games begin August 6th. Are they shown on television at all here ?

We have cable TV, including ESPN and some other sports networks.

    Very grateful for any details.

  4. Thanks, PeaceBlondie.

I have reveived an older thread about dental work. Let's keep this thread for the skin treatments query. Unfortunately I cannot see how to edit my original posting and the title :o . The forum moderator is welcome to fix this for me.

To clarify and add some detail - I believe the broken vein treatments are done by laser and possibly can be done at "Ram" Hospital. Any experiences there ?

The checking of "sun spots" is not purely cosmetic and needs to be done by a dermatological specialist with good exoerience with caucasian-type skins.

    Thanks for any guidance.

  5. My friend and I need good general dental checks and cleaning; very likely some further treatment/s will be needed (not sure of what kind, precisely, until checked out :o ).

There are also many adverts for teeth whitening. Has anyone had this done and would you recommend any particular methods/clinics ?

(Bringing this thread up to the top in hope of up-to-date reports and recommendations. Thanks.)

  6. A friend and I would like to have some dental work and skin treatments while in Chiang Mai. I found the old topic for dental, so this is about skin.

The skin treatment is checks and possible treatment of "spots" from sun damage and for "broken veins" on face and legs.

Any suggestions for reliable places to go for these ?
