Now that's enough of that defeatist talk. Pull yourself together, man. It's people like you who are causing the problem.

You may not be British but you need to act in the UK's national interest like the rest of us. So starting today make sure that you cross your fingers and pray that Brexit turns out ok. If you are one of those atheist chappies, then it is acceptable to close your eyes really, really tightly and wish really, really hard for the success of Brexit.

Yes, I'll happily close my eyes and wish really, really hard for the FAILURE of Brexit. I feel sorry for the stupid people who even thought Brexit up, I bet most of them are wishing they hadn't.

  2. Why doesn't the UK just admit it made about the worst decision ever when the left the EU, and re-join it again.  People I know living in GB have said their lives have gone downhill since this sh*t occurred.  People who voted to leave are now saying they erred and want to make a return.  That's of course, if the EU would let them return.  Maybe, they won't, but if they do, the Pommes should just go for it.

  3. While the US was a pretty good place in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's, it now seems to be rapidly going downhill, and becoming 3rd; no, 4th world, at an alarming rate.   Having a retarded, ignorant, petulant child in charge, shows that something is very seriously wrong with the country.

A bit like; Alice in Wonderland, on bad drugs !!

  4. Why do you provide weather details in some coded form?   Metric is used around the world, so I, and I'm sure, many others have no idea of how to decode your new system. Please change to metric so it is simple and easy to read.  Thank you.

Today, I paid my green fees at a golf course. The cost was 350 baht for 9 holes.

I gave the manager a 1000 baht note, and a 50 baht note. He looked confused, and tried to give me the 50 baht note back

He was using a calculator. He has said before he has a university degree.

It's not the first time I have encountered this. Some staff in 7/11 get it, some do not.

    Is it the education system?

This is something that happened to me, twice, over a 6 year period of living in Siam.  Buying a cap for 199 Baht, giving the seller 2 x 100 Baht notes, and about to say, keep the change, she picks up the calculator, and plus 200, minus 199 ?????   I just look at her, She reaches for 1 baht, I hold up my hand and say Mai Pen Rai, keep it. She smiles and nods.   The 2nd time it was for a 199 Baht key ring, of course I give the young lass 200 Baht, and the same thing happens, calculator out and 200 minus 199, Some people are either addicted to calculators, or have very little knowledge of maths, something you would think of is that maths is a major part of selling.   Isn't it??   Life !!

  6. There is a lot of info on the manual, but I can't find a max charge rate, but these are mentioned,

    Battery, 100 Ah - 250 Ah.

    Charge current, 15 +/- 2amp.

    Fast charge current, 20 +/- 2amp.

Rated voltage (back up mode)230 VAC +/- 10%

Rated frequency (back up mode) 5oHz +/- 0.1 Hz.

    Output, 90 - 290 +/- 10 VAC.

    Frequency 41 - 65 Hz.

    UPS/WUPS Mode selection, 180 - 265 +/- 10 Vac, or 90 - 295 +/- 10 VAC.

(Yes, you can see I'm a bit lacking when it comes to this electronic stuff.)

I will try your suggestion of leaving it to charge for 24 hours and see if that makes a difference,

    Thank you again..

  7. Hello Crossy, and thank you for your quick reply.

I have been advised to get 2 bigger batteries, such as you mentioned, commercial boat batteries. I don't think Lithium batteries are available here, and importing things may not be allowed by the military here who are in charge of pretty much everything, It would probably take a lot of paper work, and a lot of tax/fees just to get permission for something like this.

The cuts are 1pm - 5pm then 9am - 1pm next day in cycles, but sometimes 5pm - 9pm, but not every day, so on other days, the charging time is 16 hours, but of course less when the extra cut off time happens. The pix below is my inverter, except that mine is half size vertically, the LED panel is the same, and the buttons below are the same.

Thank you for your suggestions I'll get the local engineer bloke to look at what you mentioned, he has a multi-meter,

--Any idea how much current is being dragged from the pack when discharging? What is the charge rate that your inverter can provide?--    Not sure myself, I'll try to find out.

Thank you again for your input,

  8. Hello, I live in Myanmar and there are 2 x 4 hour electricity cuts every day. I live in an apartment, I don't have any vehicle, but I'm curious about your battery powered inverter.   I'm not very good with electronics, and had a local engineer with me when I bought a Durasol Pure Sine Wave UPS series CD model 1500 VADSWL - 1700/24 volt inverter, along with 4 semi-truck trailer Varta Blue Powermotive N120 (150F50) 12V 120AH 800A batteries.  I was told they would not run the AC, but I have a small refrigerator & a small chest freezer, sometimes use TV & wifi, and fan, and at night, 1 or 2 lights   When I first got this set up, in Jan. last year it worked well, covering each 4 hour electricity cut, but over the last 4/5 months the useful time using the inverter has shortened, and it's now down to about an hour & a half.

All up the batteries & inverter cost me 2.4 million Kyats, about 750$US..

The reason I'm sending this message to you, is that you seem to have way more knowledge than I with this sort of thing, so I'm wondering if any of what I have makes sense to you.  It is not easy to find knowledgeable people here and I'm sure there are, but they may not speak English, and I certainly can't speak Burmese very well.

Anyway, any thoughts you may have would be very gratefully  accepted and whether you can shed light on my problem or not, I please accept my thanks for taking the time to read my email.

  9. Hello Tim, is this reply direct to you?  If so, I'd like to ask if it's possible to see a repeat of the weekend offering you had a short time ago about eye surgery as I was unable to watch at the time, and would very much like to see if still available.  I'm in Myanmar and want to get info on possible eye surgery before I actually travel there.  Many thanks for any info/help you can give, or link to you podcast, etc..

    Pete.

  10. Hello, i am also looking for Hummus, I have no facilities to make my own, nor anywhere to buy the ingredients as I'm in a rural area.  Looking for about 2 x 300/400 gram containers.

  11. I have a number of CV visa exempt extensions on my N.Z. passport, & I was issued another 2 month CV extension on Jan. 24th, ending on Mar. 25, 2022. I was told that was the last CV extension.  However, some local people told me that there was another extension for Laos people who were in Thailand, so today I went back to the Immi. Office, and asked if this applied to foreigners as well.    I was told there is indeed another extension for foreigners, and I have to return to the office on 24th Feb., and I will get another 2 month extension, which will last until May, 2022.  As the staff in the office can not speak English very well, that's all the info I could get. This is the Chiang Khan office, in Loei Province.

  12. I bought a Honda XL 600 Dakar in Samui when I first arrived in Thailand to live, 2003. When I got a job & started to living in Prachin Buri, I asked for a plate with 1 on it, I waited about a month & was then told to come to the Rego office & collect it. I think it cost around 400/500 Baht. I never put it on the bike as I wanted to keep it as part of my number/license plate collection I made over time being here. I had a plastic one made up & fitted it.  After about 5/6 years I sold the bike with the plastic plate still attached. Shown top left side of the image, with other random Loei plates I collected over time.

  13. I'm sure not a fan of food stuffed with chilli, but Chicken Phad Thai, & Massaman Curry are my 2 favorite dishes, & I ate them long before I came here.  Beef Massaman, for me is amazing. Just a little bit of chilli I can handle.

  14. The three groups who should be vaccinated against Covid-19 immediately are the over 60s, people with seven underlying health conditions and pregnant women.

The letter dated 20th July is from MoPH official Kiatphoom Wongjarit.

At the end of the letter is says that this order applies to foreigners too, reported PPTV36

I copied from the title page, showing 20th July, not 20th January, or did I miss something ??
