Here is a point. The Safari beach hotel in Patong does not give refunds.
The Pattaya hotels that i have checked only give refunds if the customer has paid extra for the option of a refund. If not - no refunds.
So, how can these hotels demand payment for rooms that were never occupied, when if they have been paid they do not give a refund when the room is not occupied?.
Pay in front to these hotels, if you do not arrive, or even give notice of not arriving - no refund.
Have the room booked and you do not arrive, they want to be paid.
Some hotels give refunds, the Pattaya Hilton for example, but is there a service fee?

Thais being swindled by foreigners? Are they? On Thai's past reputation I doubt it.
Is it just a ploy to be paid at a bad time for hotels in Thailand?
If the case was tried in Thailand the verdict would be they should be paid. If it was tried in Germany there maybe an opposite verdict.
As Thailand persists in their habits of cheating foreigners at a local level, a police level, and a government level, they should expect the same treatment from foreigners.

I suspect that a lot of business travel is just an excuse for a paid holiday anyway . . .

If they do not want tourists gathering in groups and maybe passing on the virus, open the airports and borders so they can leave, or do they want these tourists trapped spending money.

I had to sue Qatar.
I changed my flight, they send me an acknowledgement by email, and when I tried to check in - no flight!
I had to pay British airways 400 pounds for a one way ticket to the UK.
I sued them for that and another 200 pounds for additional expenses.
I have never flown on them since.

The problem with the train is catching when it is going.
I always walk to the border from the train station - it is not far, and catch a bus into Vientiane.
I think to catch the international bus you have to be in the center of Nong Khai.
Better to catch the local bus, which leave at the right hand side after you clear immigration.

Thank you Thailand Ryan for an informative post. It is a pity you have to endure a member: “from the home of CC,” posting: “so, are you bragging or complaining - no bash intended.”
It is a bash intended or not.
This is why I rarely post on these forums now because I know that out there, is some know it all, hovering with his fingers over the keyboard looking for an excuse to make some snide remark.
And then there is the reply from NanLaew posting: “The OP says he 'used to live' in Udon but doesn't give any indication of when that was thus any suggestion that it's 'very quiet place Now!!!' has no point in time as a reference.”
Does it matter?
Thailand Ryan used to live in Udon Thani, and has recently revisited, and states it’s a very quiet place now.
NanLaew is just finding fault with a good, informative post. When did you write a post as long NanLaew?
The Thaiger put it well when they published:
The Keyboard Warriors
We can’t leave this group out because there seems to be a large contingent of keyboard warriors out there who keep Thai website administrators busy. They respond to everything that’s posted and are keen to share their expert advice on the matter. On ALL matters. They are a virtual Library of Congress when it comes to dispensing their opinions and vast knowledge about all matters relating to life in Thailand, or anywhere really.
Web administrators (The Thaiger included) are kept busy ‘hiding’ and deleting some of their extravagant claims, nonsense or thinly-veiled abuse at the writer of the story, the website generally or other commenters.
Keep posting Thailand Ryan.

Terrible, he came to Thailand, 12-years-ago to teach children how to play football in underprivileged schools, becomes ill, and the Thais charge him £2,000 a day in the hospital.
Do any of the Thai families whose sons he taught to play football cough up anything. Do the underprivileged schools help with any money?
I would wager they are being funded partly from the West.
The truth is that Thais are totally selfish. You might get an odd beer free off them, or a tea, but it is just marketing to encourage you to come again.
Did the Brits that saved the football boys trapped in the cave pay their own expenses?
I would not be surprised if they did . . .

I have just got back.
I am not sure if I will return.
Ripoffs everywhere, usually small, like charging me for a wet wipe in a cafe, which I used because there were no paper napkins.
To big rip offs, such as VietJet cancelled my return trip with out notice.
I had to buy another ticket on Air Asia.

Is there any felang market where I could sell these Items.
I want B20 a book or DVD.
They are taking over my lock up.
Books are all non fiction, military history, crime, stuff like that.
All DVDs are guaranteed to work or money back. There are not many Thai copies.
Hope to hear of someplace.

Thai hoteliers appeal to PM for help after major tour group fails to pay up 2 billion baht for trips

I am trying to point out, and badly it seems, that the Thai hoteliers want their money back, but do not give money back themselves.
It seems to me if that is the way they want to play, they should not be surprised if they are treated the same way, which is: no money back.
