That does not follow. What it could also indicate is that the hot weather is working against the transmission of the corona virus in the same way as it operates against other viruses.

Think about it for a minute - where are the highest levels of infection? In countries where it has been cold for the past couple of months. For instance, China, Washington State, Iran, South Korea etc.

In fact, this is part of the strategy that is being employed in the UK - try to delay the level of infections until high summer.

In Japan also, the absolute worst areas is the far north Island of Hokkaido, where it is sub-zero with snow.

My Japanese friend just sent me an article (it's in Japanese, so use google translate although it's not a perfect translation) which was dated March 4th, 2020.

The main point was that AOT has sent 3 individuals of having a Wuhan virus symptoms to the hospital directly from the airport.

1.) Indian man arriving at Don Mueang Airport from Narita.  He had 37.7 degrees.

2.) German man arriving at Phuket Airport from Singapore.  He had 38.6 degrees with cough and a runny nose.

3.) Japanese woman who was scheduled to depart from Suavarnabhumi Airport back to Japan.  She had 37.1 degrees with cough and a runny nose.

My guess is that they are under the famous PUI.

Nice to see that they are at least pulling some people out of circulation. I hope the Japanese woman got yanked more because of her other symptoms, rather than because of her so-called "fever. " 36.8 - 37.2 degrees is "normal" non-fever temperature for me.

There is always a first time for flu, the same as Dengue.....:whistling:

Getting the flu, and/or suffering from it, is dependent on your immune system. In the case of Dengue, it is dependent on the luck of being bitten by the right/wrong mosquito, and nothing to do with how great or weak one's immune system is. Getting dengue does not even provide any further immunity. Fighting dengue has nothing to do with the production of antibodies against it. It "merely" ravages one's liver, and explodes the majority of red blood cells in one's body. It is a different can of worms, but I mention it because it is far more "more brutal" on the body, and unlike the flu, no amount of care to keep your immune system functioning optimally has any effect on whether you "get it" or not. I am not susceptible to colds or flus, but you are, by admission, so yes take care, of yourself, and don't attempt to project your personal situation upon others. Many human being are not entirely retarded, believe it or not, and many of them know their own body's idiosyncrasies, including their strengths and weaknesses.

Not if the tests are never done. Then there will be no cases and nobody will have anything to tell.

But what we do know, is that more and more beds are being occupied with PUI patients. If this number keeps going up day by day, then at some point I guess there will be a tipping point and someone will start to talk.

I would say that "people will start to talk" only when the bodies start hitting the body bags, as was the case in Iran, where hospital workers and morgues workers started spilling the beans. However, if people don't actually die in huge numbers, then who cares how many PUIs there are? For every PUI, there are countless people who are self-monitoring what they see as cold or flu symptoms, and they are not going near a hospital, and therefore do not become PUI statistics. The number of clearly sick people around me made a big jump in the last week - I doubt whether any of them know what exactly they have, and I doubt they are visiting hospitals. They are self-monitoring their condition and hoping for the best.

That's the first thought came in my mind when I heard there are students from my country as well currently studying in Iran but I think some or most of these students may be there for  some  religious course.

It's not exactly specified as to what they were studying there though.

I read an article that stated that these students are studying Islam, Theology, or the word of Allah - whatever one prefers to call it.

A question, how many times in your lifetime have you had the flu, I mean real flu....?

I must have had it at least 4/5 times....

Well, there you go. Every needs to think about their own susceptibilities and weakness, and refrain from projecting their own situation on others. I never get colds or flu period, even though I live in a dense mega-city, and am surrounded by sick people at work, and countless thousands of sick people during my daily commute, crammed onto trains with them. I had one horrible sickness in my life, and that was dengue - so weak I could barely stand up or hold my head up. Took at least six months if not a year to feel recovered from that. I fought brutal dengue without hospitalization, so I'm not worried about a viral infection and/or pneumonia. Those who succumb to the flu and pneumonia are being culled by nature.

Thais returning from high-risk areas to face legal action if they don’t self-quarantine

I hope any Italians or Iranians that don't quarantine themselves get man hunted and media hunted in the same way... Better yet, I wish they would just stay home, but some forums show that Italians are still going ahead with flying to Thailand.

I would like to hear from anyone who flew into Thailand this morning from any of these listed places. What were they told about self quarantine and reporting etc?

No reports yet on the net from people on the death list countries - hopefully that is because they have been locked up and don't have wi-fi access at the moment. We are all waiting with bated breath to hear some stories.

According to John Hopkins site, once a country hits 80-100 confirmed case, it looks like it doubles every 4 days until around 5000 cases and then it tapers off slightly as it continues to rise.

Thailand has not yet, (at least not yet reported), made it to the point where it quickly ramps up in number of cases. But seems to be only a matter of time now, the Genie is Out of the Bottle.

Well, that mathematical magic most certainly did not occur in Japan. If it were true, Japan would have thousands of case now, rather than 300. Can't include the death ship people in the calculation, since they were not "in Japan" and they are not "in Japan" now either. Rather than using the term "country," maybe JH should use the term "hot spot" or "infection hell hole." You know, places like Qom in Iran, or whatever community the Christina cult is located in in South Korea.

Well, if Thailand were to ban tourists from certain countries, they should be fair and ban the top 10 most risky countries. All these have more than 100 cases.

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

    1. China (including HK, Macau)

    2. Korea

    3. Italy

    4. Iran

    5. Japan

    6. France

    7. Germany

    8. Spain

    9. USA

    10. Singapore

    What goes around comes around.

Would be nice if these websites showed an iota of intelligence and ranked countries by infection rate, rather than simple numbers. Japan, for example, has 22 times the population of Singapore; thus, as a percentage or as an infection rate per million people, Japan is nowhere near the "infection hell hole" that Singapore is, and we too are living on top of each other in the millions. Clearly Japan is containing spreading better than Singapore, who gets praised, and Japan numbers even include infected health workers and government officials who had to visit the death ship sent to us from where??? When I look at that list of the "10 most risky countries" I don't know whether to laugh or be angry. You couldn't pay me enough to go to some of the countries on that list, while about 3 of them, including Japan, wouldn't phase me in the least (although I would stay away from Hokkaido). Given what cleanliness freaks the Japanese are, and the actual "low" infection rate, I don't think Thailand or anyone else should ban or restrict Japanese visitors; they could, however, ban or restrict people with filthy habits, who visit Hokkaido and then return home, like the Thai grandparents who visited Hokkaido and then brought the virus home to Thailand. Hokkaido is a hot spot because of mass Chinese group tourism to that region, as well as because of the cold climate, possibly. No other region in Japan is a hot spot like the hell hole hot spots they have in Iran, Italy, China, and South Korea. Be afraid of people who have visited Hokkaido, but no need to be afraid of Japanese or people coming from Japan in general.

No, we are not. Stop with the nonsense. If official figures are correct (I seriously doubt families, and medical personnel would not blow the whistle online, on social media) Thailand is a very low risk country. Only two infections in the past week. The US had two new cases in the past 24 hours, Australia had three, Canada had three, India had 15, and S. Korea had 142. So, stop the hysterical rants. Fake news. Calm down.

For sure, I definitely view Thailand as low risk. In Japan they have declared a State of Emergency in the north, schools were closed down throughout the nation as of Friday, and up north many business closed for the weekend and the whole populous was told to stay home. Despite all that, people in Japan are not near as paranoid as some people on Thaivisa. When I read Thaivisa, it makes me wonder why more more farang don't just hang themselves, and be done with it...

    2 Things with this:

    1.  Could not find a mask for sale anywhere in CNX today.  “Sold Out” is what I saw.

    2.  If I connect in Taipei(Eva Air), Incheon(Korean Air) or even in Singapore(SQ) while returning from the United States then I would have to “self Quarantine”?

Effectively International Air Travel to and from the Land of Smiles is a No-Go for now.

You must have missed some posts. The DDC provided clarification on March 3, which demonstrates that the ministurd's statement was an exaggeration, and not reflective of reality. Air travel is still very much a go. There are no new cancelations.
