NMot sure if this is a football or bar question but will try here first.
Does anyone know of any bars/pubs that will show the football league playoffs?
They are not on espn or star, think its a sky sports show.
Managed to watch them last year when in Hanoi so guess there must be somewhere with it on in Bkk.

Stayed in the four sun inn with no problems about guests. B550 double room, shower, air con and tv. The new one with the entrance in the small alley behind Gullivers better than the o;d one.
Also d and d inn. Bit more expensive but pool on the roof and nice little bar.

I currently live at Baran Saan Nuch in On Nut 75/1.
If the original poster wants me to ask about avaialbility then PM me and can find out the details. May save a trip!
Oh, great place to live, fairly cheap, 5mins to skytrain, small gym and pool on the way

Thanks all for the advice.
Notes have been taken and i feel much more confident going down to pantip with a bit of info behind me.
Thanks again.

Sukhumvit Soi 75/1 has fully furnished apartments except for TV which is extra or buy your own. All come with refrig, sink and cabinets but no cook top. The building is less than 3 years old and currently has swimming pool under construction or maybe even finished by now. They offer maid service for an extra fee depending on how often you wish apartment cleaned. The internet is broadband but speed is limited to about 60KB on downloads. You can buy different prepaid internet cards for certain number of hours(700 baht gets you 85 hours). Its a five minute walk to the On Nut BTS or you can use the apartment shuttle that runs twice in the morning, noon and evening. You have a Lotus at the On Nut BTS stop and a Carrefour almost across the street on On Nut road.
around 9000 gets you 40 sq meter single room.
around 14000 gets you 50 sq meter one bedroom.
around 18000 gets you 60 sq meter two bedroom.
Ball, do you live in Baan Saran Nuch? If so, same place as me!
To the original poster, would recommend this place

Some of you seem to have less hassle than me off of the touts. Flew in on Tue and meter taxis still downstairs with very little sinage for the first time visitor.
With all that has been said about the airport i find the only negative is the touts. Is it unreasonable to expect anyone, in any country not to leave you alone after you have answered them 5 or 6 times plitly that you do not need them?
This time one guy followed me all the way down the escalator offering me a "cheap ride" to Pattaya even though i had told him 4 or 5 time that i was going to Suk, i wanted a meter taxi and no thankyou.
Not here to bash Thailand or the airport but these people shiuld be banned from the terminal, not the impression you want to give 1st time visitors.

I am going to be using the new airport for the first time very soon.
I will arrive at the airport at about 1 in the morning.
Does anyone know if i will be able to change Thai Baht into Pounds at that time?
Thanks.
What was the point of asking this question in this thread
Do you really want to get less pounds for your Baht
or do you know something different
The point is i live and work in Thailand and want to know if money change is possible at the new airport (the topicof this forum) at the time i stated.
I think this is fairly clear due to the amount of helpful responses i have recevied form others. Thanks to all of you for those.
Dont you all just hate those people who comment for no other reason than to feel superior to others, to crtisise and to boost the amount of posts next to their names. V sad.

I am returnting to the Uk for the first time since moving here. I want to change my Thai Baht into Pounds. Is it best to do this at BKK airport or in London when i arrive.
By the way I fly at 3am from Thailand so guess maybe not too many booths open at that time when I leave?

What seems like a good idea with a few beers inside you-
Went out with mates and drunk too much. Was supposed to stay at mates place but plans changed and staggered home at 4am to pester my gf. She had assumed I would stay out for the night and double locked the door. Called cell, banged door and window, a row of terraces, no way around. Was quite warm and decided to sleep on the step, it started to rain, tried to get under my car in the drive, it was only a ford so very low and only half of me fitted under. Yes these things seem like good ideas when drunk. Glanced over a neigbours drive, they have a family a one of those mini vans for all the kids. Good ground clearance. So crawled under and passed out. Next morning woke as engine of this van was started up, banged head and very confused. The guy reversed pretty quick and i dont think it was good sense but slow reactions as i lay still and he smoothly moved over me. Then he saw me and started laughing so much that his whole family came out plus my gf and a few curtain twitchers. I must have looked so rough anyway, a sore head from the booze and the bang and bits of dry grass and stones stuck to my face. Never really did live that one down until we moved.

Quote "In all the plans, police have set up checkpoints from 10 pm to 5 am."
Is this for real! Lets hope those pesky terrorists keep to their office hours. Any over time and we're all in trouble

Totally agree that an age limit should be set. But more importantly is sticking to this and its enforcement. At the same time the "government" could use this as an opprtunity to educate and punish the drink drive culture which personally i find more worrying than seeing beer ads on tv.
Banning advertising will make event and and companies suffer but not tackle the problem, education, rule enfocement, punishments and role models will.

I would definatly recommend the trip up to Sappa. Go to a tour operator in the Old Quaeter and haggle a little for prices. You will get an overnight train, no need to get the first class option, and you can choose a package of short walks with guides ( not so good) or longer ones with overnight stays in a village.
The whole thing was great with good transfers.
Do take good walking shoes and waterproofs. Do keep hold of your train ticket. I found out they wont let you leave the station at Sappa without your stub the hard way!
I am always wary of organised tours but this one was great.

Sukhumvit road was named after the fifth chief of the Department of Highways, Khun Phra Pisan Sukhumvit.
Thanks for the answr. One more piece of information to store in the brain.

Woke up this morning and for some reason this question popped into my head.
What does the name Sukhumvit mean? ( If anything).
Does it have origins in Europe? ( kinda sounds German/ Austrian/ Dutch).
A pretty random question I know but any help would be appreciated.

The Most Incredibly Annoying Thing About Waitrons
in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Posted
Lucky dog! Thank you!
Didnt want to be a moaning farang but the timing of the 'waitrons' and kitchen gets me the most.
The concept of starters then main? Food at the same time? rice on the table for 10 mins then food?
Oh and love Thailand before i get 'why are you here?' remarks.
Just commenting on my own experience.
