  1. Actually, I doubt they are from Dubai. More likely from south-east Europe or so. Yesterday this couple asked me how to get to Beach Road. Then they said they were from Dubai, and wanted to know where I was from. "Oh, that's amazing, what type of currency do you use in your home country?" Silly me, I showed him the remaining 25 Euros I'm still holding onto. As soon as he spotted the 500-Baht note in my hand, however, the bloke put some strange looking type of wallet on my arm and asked if he may have a look at that 500 Baht note as "we've just arrived in Thailand and we've never seen this type of banknote". At last I became very suspicious and immediately turned to my old allergy trick "listen, I'm extremely allergic to the material of your wallet" type of thing. Off they went somewhat disappointed. Guess what, they did not head towards Beach Road. I'm still in posession of my 25 Euros as well as the 500 Baht banknote. They may have been able to sneak a 20 baht note or two, though. Not absolutely sure. Luckily, this happened well before I was planning to get to my Thai bank's atm later that afternoon. It could have turned out pretty nasty if they spotted me messing around with 20k Baht in front of the cash dispenser.
  2. Lotus's at North Pattaya Road still do a number of Beerlao varieties including Beerlao Green in cans (the bottled ones are out of stock).
