  1. Hi Scouse,

it is looking increasingly likely that we shall be going to Vietnam for a year in December.I am however still concerned that her residence permit(valid until Nov 2009)will still be accepted as i read that if im out of the country for a period exceeding 183 days this could be constrewed as i have left the UK permantly and if this is the case does my wife then lose her right to reside in the UK?

    Thanks

  2. Although Joe Hart made the old ticker miss a beat or two :o

Yeah that "clearance" :D on the line was a bit nervy.

Personally i think SGE has amassed a set of quality players all of whom appear to be very comfortable on the ball and confident in their abilities. Some of the one touch football yesterday eas breathtaking and i dont recall a City team EVER playing like that,it really is exciting!!There also appears to be a sense of confidence amongst the fans who i think sense something special is happening and dare i venture maybe just maybe we might be loosing the "typical City"(in a negative4 sense)mentality.

BTW Mr Bo,i agree with you in regards to Mpenza but am suprised you dont rate Johnston, care to elaborate why??

    CITY FOREVER!!!! :D

  3. Agree Bred and most confess im happy how things are progressing.Thought we were a tad unlucky not taking all 3 points against Fulham and i think as a consequence Newcastle is a big game if we want to keep the optomistic feel going

You could be in for a win against the geordies. For me right now they're a bit vulnerable if need to scrap.

Yeah, their biggest scrapper (joey barton) is still unfit :o

    Mr Bo,

What about Samaras is he worht another go?It looks like bianchi is injured so i certainly would have him on the bench.Apparantly Samaras has been good in training and Sven claims he is getting "better and better"and i must confess i like the way the kid has kept his head down and not bemoaned his fortune.Who knows Pearce,s uncut diamond may come good yet :D

  5. You guys have to be kidding or working for viet tourism.

Everything I said is true, have spent plenty of time there. You have obviously never taken viet woman to hotel - reception will refuse you before you even get her into the lobby and its ILLEGAL (was earlier this year and always has been)

Mate no harm to you but you are TALKING SHIT.I have stayed many times with my wife in a Vietnam hotel and before we were married and NOT ONCE was it a problem.Maybe the hotel just dos,nt like the look of you :o

  6. Will vietnam ever rival thailand? - no way.

    issues:

vietnam is not an aviation hub like bkk

crime by locals against foreigners is a lot worse

vietnamese attitude towards foreigners. certainly not los.

nah trang in no way rivals phuket, water, corals, beaches no competition

illegal to take your legit viet gf to hotel or house.

    visas.

plus side - worth a look and food is great.

As someone who is married to a Vietnamee lady and has thus spent a lot of time in Vietnam i have to take issue with the points you have raised here.Firstly you claim that crime against foreigners is worse-EVIDENCE PLEASE.Nah Trang(actually Nha Trang)is but one of numerous beach resorts and certainly some of the beaches in Central Vietnam would rival any in Thailand. Finally you claim its illegal to take a Vietnam girl to a hotel, well my friend that is simply nonsence....

Personally,i think with regards to what Vietnam has achieved by way of infastructure for tourists in what you have to remeber is a very short period of time is nothing short of remarkable, and though i dont believe Vietnam will ever rival Thailand as a tourist destination i do believe it will continue to go from strenght to strenghth

  7. Having been born, presumably, in Northern Ireland and thereby having an entitlement to Irish citizenship, you will always retain that. Therefore, if you're abroad when your wife's residence permit expires, she can always apply for a new family permit.

    Scouse.

Thanks Scouse, but tell me this if we were to go to Vietnam for 1 year and her present residence permit is still in date can she still use it.Its valid until Nov 2009.I thought though there was a stipulation which decreed that if the holder was out of the country for a certain period it would become obsolete.(?)

  8. Hi,

Myself and my Vietnamee wife are exploring the possability of moving to Vietnam to live.At present she resides in Belfast with me and our daughter and she has a eea residence permit.,my daughter a British passport.Should we leave and live in Vietnam for say 1 year and decide to return would it prove difficult to get another EEA family permit??Methinks Scouse would be the best one to answer this however any other advise is obviously welcome :o

  9. Poor game, poor result, poor performance. not one player had a decent game, in fact most were rubbish - Ireland never got a touch. UBC missed the first ten minutes, and it was bobbins all night. I just hope we've got that performance out of our system!

Totally agree Bred we just were not at the races and to be frank im becoming a tad concerned about a few of our new signings namely Petrov,Elano and Garrido. In particular Petrov who has basically done nothing and dare i venture dos,nt look like hes going to do anything.Elano had a couple of encouraging games however the last 3 he basically beenAWOl

  10. It occurred to me when I was thinking about my own postings, many of which no doubt have caused anger or distaste as much as interest, that there is one person who writes to this forum who has single-handedly caused more happiness, joy and celebration than any other. His posts are scrutinised and every full stop and comma digested. They form the living bible by which relationships are established and can flourish.

You can keep your self acclaimed blog merchants, the wind up men and women, the trolls and the time wasters.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the ONE, the ONLY, the incomparable SCOUSER. Without whom, for many of us, our lives would be immeasurably poorer. May I suggest in honour of all the help he has given that we recognise that with a personal thanks for the work done.

Thanks, your advice has been, and remains, the best.

I totally agree Scouse you are one of the good guys in life!! :o

  11. Dont know if any of you guys had a chance to watch the cup game against Bristol City last night i hope you did because it was a joy to watch at least the first halh.Rarely do i remeber a City team play such fluid and attractive football and there were some outstanding performances most notably Bianchi,he looks world class his touches at times were sublime and his work rate second to none.

  12. its amazing how many thai's now wear the man city shirt , they always follow winners..........

How come i never see any thai's in City shirts? My two little boys had their shirts on in the Seri centre yesterday and irked a few reds! :D Any way everybody in thailand knows the City fans here are me, Mr BJ, Tots, JacknDenny and a few others so what's the point of this survey, and long may it continue that way - an elite chuffin club!

    Hey Bred,

    The chosen few eh :o:D

  13. Good news i think :o

    From Skysports

    City starlet signs on

Manchester City have handed a new deal to Ishmael Miller, skysports.com understand.

The exciting prospect is a product of City's highly acclaimed academy and has already made 17 first-team appearances for City.

New boss Sven Goran Eriksson is keen to have an English presence in his squad and he sees Miller as a part of the club's long-term future.

The 20-year has now agreed terms on a three-year deal, which seemingly ends suggestions he may be sold.

Miller has been strongly linked with a loan move, which Eriksson may well sanction - but the versatile performer will return to the City of Manchester Stadium, should he leave.

West Brom have been linked and may now try push for a temporary deal

Great news i think!!I still maintain that this kid has a hel_l of a lot of talent but unfortuantly his confidence took a bit of a beating last season, however with some(hopefu;;y)first team football with Albion he can re-build this and come back and prove his detractors wrong

  14. Hi All,

Thanks for your replys which have been helpful(keep them coming).B Boy,i know all about Hoi An as ive been going there for 7 years now.I know quite a few of the expats there and as rightly state the majority work in hospitality.I know a few who own/run restarant/bar but i think Hoian is submerged now in that area and hence i would,nt contempalate putting money into that.Anyone any ideas of work/running a business in the general central Vietnam region?I would teach but truth be told i have no experience.Cheers!

  15. Hi, would like to get some good indian food in a nice ambiente.

While searching, I found three restaurant which seem to fulfill what I am looking for:

    Rang Mahal (http://hotel.rembrandtbkk.com/dining/rang_mahal.html)

    Indus (http://www.indusbangkok.com/)

    Hazara (http://www.facebars.com/bg/hazara.htm)

However, I could't find any information about the prices. Without wine, around what do I have to think of for a meal for two? I mean, just average, not the most fancy food. Are there big differences between the three restaurants?

I think, Rang Mahal is still the best and also the most expensive one, right? Any other recommendations?

    Thanks for your help!

I was in Rang Mahal 2 weeks ago and for food and atmosphere and stunning views its hard to beat, however as you alluded too its on the expenive side and for a set meal for two it will run you 1800baht+but imho well worth it!!

  16. It really all depend on which part of Vietnam you are planning to relocate.

I am an Expat based in HCMC and can say that this is only part of Vietnam with some sort of international facilities etc...,however increasing pollution, especially noise, is making life very hard. If Bangkok wouldnt be a 1hours flight, i guess i would have never accepted this posting.

Again, it really depends on location, center might be a more relaxed lifestyle. Bear in mind that salaries in hospitality industry are still very low in vietnam, depending on experience of course....

My wife comes from Hoi An,which is about 35km from Danang. What do you do in Saigon?
