  1. Single guy Late 50,s from the Uk arrived about 3rd week of June on visa waiver.Have done one 30 day extension at Jomtien immigration.I am aware of the covid extension that can give another 60 days and have all the forms ready for that. Previously on my visits to Thailand the most I have ever stayed is 7 weeks all done on tourist visas.I have heard of visa runs and retirement visa 0 and OA but don’t have full knowledge of the requirements and know that some people use agents. My feeling at the moment is that I might want to stay until next year maybe end of March. My original plan was that I would go home after 60 days. If I get this covid extension ok takes me too nearly end of October.Should I then be looking at getting the ball rolling for a retirement visa as I might then need something to take me from November through to March time period approx 6 months more. I think I have seen some figures for retirement visa through agent about 20-25000 baht does that sound about right? I could transfer 800k over but at the moment don’t have Thai bank account. Thanks
  2. Thanks for all the replies. It was my first time in an immigration office and I went to the Jomtien one. That was on a Monday as the next available opening day since I landed.Large queue outside and the room I was in was full all seats taken and people standing.Having to speak through plexiglass not so easy to hear what officer saying. She just put some forms in my hand and said come back later in under a month.I didn’t look at them and never seen the forms before so assumed they were all just for me to fill in. After my query here and the feed back given I asked at reception and they have given me a Tm 30 form all filled in so should be all ok now.
  3. Ok I am from the Uk.For the last six years I have been entering Thailand with a tourist visa(60 days). So have never used an immigration office to get an extension. This time about 3 weeks ago I entered on just the 30 days stamp.I visited Jomtien immigration when they next available opened (closed for the weekend) and informed them where I was staying and would like an extension near the end of my 30 days. They noted this and put in my passport a small slip of paper with immigration stamp on it called”receipt of notification”. They also gave me form I have seen others use for the extension TM7 and another form titled “ notification form for house master where alien has been staying” Does everybody have this other form.Looks like it needs to be filled in by the hotel I am staying at?
  4. Thanks but it’s not what I really want to do.In all my visits to Thailand have up till now never used my bank card.Prefer to purchase things with cash or use my travellers cheques.
  5. Hello Its been a few years since I have been to Phuket airport.I might be back this month on an international flight and will want to decide on the day if I want to spend a few days holidays in Phuket or fly to Bangkok. What ticket offices would be available for me to buy next flight to Bangkok(Suvarnabhumi) either inside airport or just outside. Also in the past had always used taxi or minibus to get from airport to Patong.I understand now there is a public bus.Is that ok to use? Thanks
  6. Well don’t think they are hard to get as most are done online now(e visa). But they want to see pre-booked flight in/out of Thailand and some accommodation pre-booked too.So if you want to go to Thailand at a few days notice don’t think you will get visa back in time. Also if want to stay a bit longer will have to change return date with airline. So that will be a cost too.
  7. You had to buy with credit card.Do you know how long you have to wait for money to go back in your account ?
  8. It seems from what I have seen over the years is that the decision would be made by the head of the local consulate.I am from the Uk and I think we used to have something like 6 consulates around the Uk.Checked their websites some wanted you to pre book the flights others didn’t. I also checked a few years ago the consulates in the US.I’m sure one or two of them again would not look for pre booked flights.
  9. Well not onerous but they have taken away flexibility. Before online e visa I would get a tourist visa from a Thai consulate. All they wanted was my passport,Passport sized photos and fill out the form with my personal details.I would have a tourist visa in passport and book my flight at my convenience and then sort out accommodation when I get there. Now before they give you a tourist visa they want to see you have a booked flight already and show you have accommodation pre booked.I also used to book my flight on the day before travel. That now is not possible because of wait time to get tourist e visa back.
  10. On the same subject as change of flight details. They ask for a Flight number for example Tg917.I want to get my Thai pass first so will look at what flight I will probably book and use that flight number.Get the pass back then book my flight. If for some reason I cant get that flight so book with different airline.Do you think I would need a new Thai pass. Also if the flight is indirect two flights would be used to get there.I assume they want flight number that arrives in Bangkok? Thanks
  11. I’m a bit unsure what you are trying to do.As you say in your first post you will have a flight ticket that shows more than 30 days with exit flight. If you are going to purchase that flight ticket well in advance why not apply for a tourist visa. Are you trying to give yourself maximum flexibility as to when you leave Thailand?
  12. That’s a good point I never thought of that.I prefer the old system.I lived quite near a Thai consulate that I would visit in person. All they ever wanted was to put my details on a form.Couple of passport photos, pay the fee then have tourist visa in passport ready to go.Then could book my flight when it suited me.In it’s current form I have less flexibility.
  13. That’s what I like to see.A good quick turnaround in receiving your Thailand Pass .Would you like to say what Hotel you used.Might use them myself being as they where quick in giving you confirmation numbers. Thanks
  14. His original post says Singapore is transit country. All travellers entering or transiting through Singapore, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents, must take either a pre-departure Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test or professionally administered Antigen Rapid Test (ART). The test must be conducted within two days before the scheduled departure date of their flight. Find out more under “Pre-departure Covid-19 test requirements. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/travel-info/transit-through-singapore/ Transit through Singapore 48 hours PCR test. Then will have to satisfy entry requirements for Thailand.
  15. What type of visa are you applying for…Can you get visa on arrival?
  16. I don’t think that is just in France.I have that message too in the Uk.
  17. Yes Ubonjoe as you are probably aware In the Uk we used to have a few Thai consulates around the country. Some of them used to ask for flight ticket when applying for tourist visa in person. As you say we have have now gone to the E visa in UK.What it asks for now is Intended date of arrival/ departure.Which I am hoping should give us the flexibility of obtaining tourist visa first and then booking flight once visa achieved.I can’t see anywhere on site where it asks for flight ticket.
  18. With regards to your flight ticket I see from Munich that Emirates,KLM and Finnair offer flexible tickets(showing on skyscanner).I had a quick look at Emirates and it looks like with a free flight date change you just might have to pay some extra if you come back on a busier date. So it would seem possible that you could book your return flight under 30 days before flying.Sort your extra days over there at immigration then change your return flight with airline you booked. If you was to do that I would suggest booking direct with airline and book over the phone so you have it definitely that it is ok to do that.
