Not sure about that. Spoke to gf and she suggests that most likely just Supermarkets , big c etc.

    Try a 7/11.

    Bangkok is selling booze.

Doubt it, I'm in Thanyaburi and the alcohol section is still taped off with signs saying "To comply with government policy the store reserves the right to stop selling liqour and alcohol mixers of all kinds."

Sa Kaeo governor has extended ban, regardless of May 3rd lifting...other provinces to follow?

I think Pathum Thani has extended to the 31st also. Just went into Big C and theres a new sign since yesterday. This one says that "in order to comply with govenerment instructions...." no booze until at least the 31st. Oh well, an instruction passed down from those it wont effect because I have no doubt the government officials won't be without a tipple if they fancy one during the month!! I can see Nakhon-Nayok/Rangsit Road be nose to tail traffic tomorrow with everyone hitting the 7/11's in Bangkok!

  3. I may be just thick (ideal criteria for a government post here) but why can't these idiots make a decision in advance, pass it as legislation so we all know, in advance, what's happening and plan accordingly. How hard would it be to say "this is what is going to happen." rather than "This is what MIGHT happen." Then wait until 23:59 the day before to make a different announcement. Also, so far 2 provinces have said the 2 day of alcohol sales will not be happening. So, if they can do that can't they equally say "Screw the ban, sales are on as normal."? That would avoid panic buying and breaches of social distancing in stores, win, win surely?

PEA bills can be paid at every 7/11 shop.  Paid mine last week.  Cash only, add 10 baht fee.

Ah, problem there is you can only do that if the bill is not overdue. My bill comes in around the 12/13 of the month and my wages/pension go in at the end of the month or the beginning of the following month meaning I HAVE to go to the PEA shop to pay. Since that is closed because of Covid 19 I have been trying to pay online. The PEA site says Krungsri Bank payment is accepted but the Krungsri Bank app and online service does not have PEA only MEA. Tried using easyBills service but they only accept CREDIT cards not debit cards. All a bit of a farce really. Cant pay PEA directly online and they shut their offices, ah well, they can wait for their money.

  5. I may be a it dense but I still feel confused. I came into the Kingdom on a 3 month Non B visa in October 2019 and was given an extension until Dec 2020 when I go my WP. Uner the amnesty, do I still have to do my 90 day reporting or not? No biggy if I do as I'll do it online, however, I'd rather avoid the agro of trying to do that if I can avoid it.

  6. I love that they have said the alcohol ban will end on April 30th. Really!?!? So you're telling us that you won't (probably on the 29th of April) decide that people might have parties to celebrate Labour Day on the 1st May? Then there's Coronation Day on the 4th, Visakha Bucha on the 6th and the Royal Ploughing ceremony on the 13th. I seriously can't see the alcohol ban ending soon. Not enough of the heirarchy have controlling interests in the liqour business.

  7. I can see the logic, as many others here have mentioned, of banning alcohol sales over Songkran to stop the local population (Thai AND farang) partying even though Songkran was postponed. However, extending the ban beyond the Songkran period offers no concievable benefit other than to keep the population sober (-ish) and avoid protests from those without jobs, food and in the near future, homes.

I was intrigued by a comment in one of the local rags from the police saying that the bulk of curfew breakers were "extremely drunk" when apprehended. DOH!! Ban the sale of alcohol and what will people do? They'll phone round their friends to find out who has booze and go there to drink instead of in their own home. This creates 3 issues,

    1. Those with the booze will have a houseful of people in breach of 'Social Distancing' guidelines.

    2. Those who might have had one or two beers alone at home, once in the company of friends will attempt to save face by keeping up with their harder drinking friends and end up severely drunk as opposed to a little merry.

    3. Drinking causes a lack of focus so they don't notice the time and end up in breach of the curfew.

So, the ban takes away one POSSIBLE problem and replaces it with 3! No wonder so few countries have tried it as a method of slowing the spread of Covid 19.

Why does anything have to be done?  Just let it be handled on the way out of the country, anyone arriving between date x and y, is good to go through date a and b.

So, and its just an idea, how about a Gandhi-esque civil disobediene approach. No one goes for extensions, 90 day reports etc. and we wait to see how many IO's are willing to forego social distancing altogether to come and arrest us. As the first arrest occurs contact the Court of Human Rights and ask them what they class as more important, a human life or an IO's brown envelope at the end of the month? Just a thought ???? ???? ????

I think Nonthaburi is only for people residing in that district. I wanted to use it a year or two ago and a friend of mine said it was not possible.

You have to go to the Immigration Office that covers the area where you are residing. I found this out the hard way after being sent to CW by my landlord to do the TM 28/TM30, queued for 2 hours only to be told my address was Nonthaburi so i had to go hunt in the swamps for the new Nonthaburi Immigration Office (not the easiest place to find or get to.). So whatever address you are entering on the forms decides the office you can use.
