Hello everyone, I have read in several places that it is possible (or perhaps better to say "not impossible"!) to open a bank account at Bangkok Bank with a tourist visa. Everything I have read stresses the importance of choosing the correct local bank branch. Does anyone know at which branches in Pattaya this might be possible and what documents beyond the obvious ones like passport etc are needed? Does any board member have first-hand experience doing this? Thanks for any comments/advice.

Things very normal in Cambodia at the momet. Entry is easy and without hassle - E visa online so no need for visiting Embassy. Not sure what you are looking for but bars are all officially open and thre street around Steet 130 (118 136 etc) are lit up like a proper bar/ entertainment district. Visiting Angkor Wat and other atrarctions is great without crods. Condos in Phnom Penh are cheap. Transit in BKK will require the final detination on a single ticket and the airline approved.. for transit Lufthansa seems safest bet from that part of the world in my opinion but others may be possible. Without knowing more about the objectives of your project - hard to say more but I would head to Cambodia firlst and then watch for opening of whatever interests you in Thailand and make the move there.

The best thing you can do is to get a Yellow IInernational Vaccination book and have the hospital copy your details into that and stamp it. I faced the same problem since I was vaxxed with Astra Zeneca (Serum Institute if India) in Cambodia and when I moved to Europe last month, I had trouble since they had never seen a Cambodia Vaccination Certificate. The Yellow Book is recognized everywhere and it's a simple job to get the data transposed to that. Of course as others have pointed out, it won't help much because Thailand is regarded by UK as a Red country and even if it was Amber, your vaccination would not be recognized as only EU/US cerrificates are accepted. I decided to get vaccinated again to ease my travels and am wating for my second Pfizer shot (on top of the two Astra Zeneca shots I had in Cambodia in March). No side effects after first Pfizer jab but double vaccination is not recommended by anyone at present.
