I just boil water, easier and kills everything. Filters do NOT remove added soluble chemicals, unless the filter is activated carbon. Reverse osmosis does not remove smaller elements such as fluoride and boron.

RO removes fluoride, and most kitchen mounted RO filters have 2 activated carbon filters. Mine has a pre and post filter.

Are there any filters that has to be changed?

    How often (approximately)?

    Cost of replacement filters?

Yes, 5 filters total, the 3 main ones I change about every 3 months, the other 2, about every 6 months.

Not more than a few hundred baht for a set of 5.

Better you do it yourself and know they are clean, or rely on the water people to do it. Either way you’re buying RO water.

Most bottled water nowadays is reverse osmosis.

I generally don’t touch the filters until I notice the “recharge” rate decrease.

Thanks, have been looking at similar from Lazada, but a little confused by choice and concerned at performance.

    Your feedback appreciated.

Any 50gpd (gallon per day) unit with UV light and decent ratings will be fine.

Keep in mind that the 50gpd rating is literal. The pressure tank is like 3-4 liters, and once depleted, will take an hour or so to “recharge”. In other words it’ll take 24 hours to produce 50 gallons. I only consume 5-6 liters a day so it’s perfect for a household.

Also you need a decent house water pressure for it to operate well at that rating. 32 psi supply and above. Any house pressure pump will do, but shoddy city supply and I’m not sure.

But if you tick all those boxes, it’s the safest bet.

  4. I’ve been drinking both city water and well water in Isaan through a small 50gpd (I believe) reverse osmosis filter mounted on my kitchen top for years now and never had an issue. I just refill 1.5L water bottles and smash them in the fridge.

They can be purchased all over lazada for 3,000-4,000 baht. Just get one with an included UV light.

Same system used on ships to desalinate sea water for showers and consumption.

That’s the only option for drinking water and no questions.

    Something like this

All she needs are the regular Thai TV channels. I am paying 524tbh per month to True Vision for their minimum package, 90% of which she doesn't use. The TV is not a smart TV (if it was it wouldn't play the cr@p that she watches), but it has HDMI port. Thanks.

True Vision should have all the regular basic Thai TV channels already? Cant remember any of the packages that dont include those 10 or so basic ones.

Call True and see what's going on, because you should already have them, or can easily get them.

They just pursue the debt better, legally its the same. This is not a case of free care what so ever. Also you cant be turned away for emergency help in Thailand. You will just have to pay for it. Those immigrants do too but if they cant too bad. Same goes for Thailand if they really cant get it from you you wont have to pay. But if you have money you will have to pay.

I get tired of people wanting to claim Thai medical care while not paying into the system. I got an insurance like normal people should have.

Its the polar opposite of "the same"

In the states, even if youre an illegal immigrant and flat broke, you will get care, and released from the hospital, and not have to pay anything at all, and when you get a bill, you dont have to pay that either, because youre broke. You just keep on living and ignoring the bills. No cops, no shame, no hostage situation, nothing. It just gets passed onto the next insured person who visits the hospital.

Maybe "the same" means something different to you than it does me.

Really, i thought the US did not even have healthcare for free for its own citizen why do they pay it for migrants ? If legally in the US and paying taxes then it should be normal. This is not the case in Thailand were us foreigners don't pay taxes (vat does not count)

In the states, you can not be turned away from the emergency room no matter if you have insurance or not. They may try to bill you later, but you cant be turned away from emergency care.

  8. At the moment, there is no hard requirement to travel to phuket. Hopefully that doesn't change by the 14th, but if it does, then you will be required to quarantine at your HOME - not some "facility"

Make sure you download the morchana app, and get a letter from your ASQ hotel/hospital stating you just left that same day and that youre traveling to your home in Phuket, and proof of your covid tests and you probably won't have to do any quarantine at all.

Just make sure you have the app, the letters, and the proof of covid tests and youll have no issues.

  9. Unless youve got some unusual kind of earthwork going on, ive installed 7-8 of these things over the years on nothing more than a 10 cm thick concrete pad right on top of the ground. No piles, no drama. Just a rough form and handmix out of a bucket.

My current 1000l tank is probably only sitting on MAYBE 5cm thick "sidewalk" and hasn't moved in 2 years.

I struggle to see why anyone would need to spend 10k for a single cubic meter of water storage unless youre living in a swamp or clay.

    Yes they can.

You  could pay the fine for the TM30 being late and then do the 90 day report before November 3rd and not be fined for a late 90 day report.

The TM30 is a basic thai form I’m sure, but are there any supporting documents that the agent needs to bring?

Is the TM30 an online thing, that does not require a big show at immigration?

The agents here, both thai and foreign, seem to be hostile towards being bothered with this.

  11. Couple of questions:

    1) I got my first 1 year extension of stay based on marriage and im coming up on the first 90 day report. Im not entirely sure which date on the passport stamp is my "start" date. Can anyone clarify?

    2) After I got my 1 year extension, I left the province where I live and went on holiday to Phuket, then Krabi for a month, and im still there now. Im thinking about staying for another month, but that would put me past the 90 day reporting date (I think)... I did not do any reporting when I left my home province and arrived here, so what does that mean? Do I just simply do the 90 day report at the local immigration office Krabi? Or will there be a problem because I did not report to immigration on arrival?

    3) I am considering moving from my home province to either Phuket or Krabi for a year to take advantage of the covid prices. If I decide to do so, what's the procedure, immigration-wise? Make the official move then immediately report to the local immigration office to update my location? Then carry on with 90 day reports on the correct timing?

    Thanks for any advice.
