  1. Any onward flight needs to give you a least one flight change, included, if not more, given uncertainty. It's not always been the case if needed a return or onward ticket booked before leaving Australia. If your uncertain, know options before you leave in the event it's required at Australia airport, over fifteen years I've rarely booked a return flight by being a requirement before departure, but if the next flight is certain then make sure it can be changed, paying extra if needed. Would expect most airlines accept this in the future. No jabs before departure a concern, even one is proving better than none, given the rising or should I say escalating cases here and Thailand. But good luck, I'll wait longer.

  2. Same,  relatively, given I'm in Sydney, a month ago, but top half of me boiling, whilst bottom half shivered, much the same as this cold spell here is doing. Certainly miss the weather after 3 years in Thailand. Second jab not supposed to have a reaction. Could have had that within 6 weeks or less, but chose early August, as supposedly more effective the longer apart.

  3. Australian embassy for any flights out of Bangkok if your looking at entering aust, they need to know and if your an Aussie you should be registered as living in Thailand. If you have lived 2 years out of the past 3 years in Thailand, there's no paperwork to leave aust. As your passport is sufficient, just paperwork for re entering Thailand

Embassy if unable to put you on their arranged flights, will get Singapore airlines to contact you. Unaware of any changes to the above since I returned to Aust in late January, waiting for 2nd jab to weigh up returning.

  4. I turned 66 in January stuck in Thailand. But luckily a flight in late Jan and began oap in quarantine.. had it before I left. This 2 years is only Relevant if your working life in Australia is minimal and pro rata applies. As I've spent 2 years of the past 3 years in Thailand, I'm classified as ordinary citizen of Thailand and can leave without paperwork as passport is sufficient. Yes Centerlink knows in and out of austalia. Keep an aus address as your permanent address and I won't be changing banks, just transfer to Thai bank account, via WU who give reasonable exchange rate. Not returning until vaccine, first jab next week, second in 2 months, then decide return on how Thailand is handling 3rd wave. In aust I worked 45 years and unlikely receiving pension will change regardless of future stay in Thailand, though have family in aust will visit 3 or 6 monthly. Maybe others have had longer stints in Thailand, may help more. This is to prompt them for both of us to know more.

  5. Ok. In September I began searching for flights to Aust. and most had up to 3 transit, but the news around was your in for chasing refunds as flights got delayed or cancelled. I emailed the embassy saying weird to book flights through them. I registered and got sent emails re flights,. Like register interest for upcoming flights, but I felt at over 60, a health risk, so waited until I knew suvsnabahumi was closed for transits. Meaning only those leaving had met internal requirements to leave, incl test 3 days prior etc. Moving on in January I registered interest, but numbers on flights kept getting reduced, 45, 38, 25 and had given up, but got a call from SA offering flights to Bris, Melb and Adel. I stuck to price during convo, $1500, via changi, and chose Adel. Embassy doing Syd only. There were offers from embassy to join flights from changi to Bris and Canb, but grateful to embassy and kept in touch regular and from embassy FB to stay informed and like you found forum users top for everything, like asq experience. Hope that helps but I'll check if you reply

  6. All Austalians should register through the aust embassy website and stay up to date with their Facebook page. Singapore airlines through the embassy will offer aussies flights if you're registered. The embassy has their list and will continue to offer flights, but there are limited seats. They do email flights to Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide which can be arranged by them or you contact SA of your interest, same the embassy. Every fortnight the embassy seeks intention to fly, if your registered and provide details. Singapore Airlines are taking bookings on some routes, such as Bangkok to Changi to connect with their flights to Australia that are on offer from the embassy besides flights they arrange. Good luck I'm back in Australia as a result and grateful to the embassy.
