My wifes Condo is in pleaaseant enough  area  35  minutes  from Bangkok  central  

But  these  pics show  what it is  like 5 mimutes  from the Condo

5 minutes  from main roads with  1 million  Baht  cars  bumper to bumper  for  50 klms 

There  is   poverty   still in Thailand  I think where  half you  ex-pats  live  never see this  the  real  Thailand 

Crowded  filthy  pockets  where 1000,s  live and call a home  they   do the best with what they have  and seem happy friendly non  racist

people...

It is  the  middle   class and  rich  that are the racist  in Thailand  as they see visitors  as a threat the  their  control 

10,000,000  baht  for  a condo no  way  hosie ....who  now  wants to live in Thailand  

Apart from the Chinese  wanting to get out of commy China  and get away  from the  crowds  ..hahahaha

No police  enforcement  roads  rules  ...Police are  paid  a pittance  have no motivation ...I see some try  but as a whole ... no interest 

No driver education

Unroadworthy  vehicles

Over crowded  roads...  Many   drivers  not  even  have a driver licence

My wife  family have  10  drivers  with vehicles....  3  no registered  and  5  no licences .... seems  the  norm  in her  area  

Can only  assume  Thailand as a whole is similar?

Most of your  posters  are correct   ...It is not the size of the  bike that kills  it is  2  factors

1....The  training   the intelligence...and the   commonsence  of the  Rider  and safe  riding techniques

2....The  cars  and trucks  around them to be  aware  of  motorcyclists 

I  have riden big  harleys  with  high  perf  motors  for 35  years (over  1800 cc) .....I  say ...it is    not  ... that  the  power of the bike that  kills  as  much as the  care of the Rider ...  rider  training  and rider technique 

Many deaths  on Bike are at speeds  less than 80kph  as hit by cars  or trucks 

I have  seen with sheer  amazement  the bike Riders  in Thailand ..total  shock actually...each  one  has a  sign on his or her  back .."will be dead  soon" In Australia  the way they ride  is all ilegal on Aust.  Roads  laws 

I  recently  saw the wages of the  Thai  Police  and  now realise  why  should they bother enforcing all the laws  when  paid  only a  pittance  

my  wife  in Thailand has a basic  job  as driver  earns more than  a  higher ranking police officer ..this is a  joke   ..sorry 

No  wonder they  rather look for  extra income from corruption than enforce  laws on the road 

Ok  back to   Motorbikes Thailand...sorry  nothing will ever change  too  late  mate  damage has been done  years of  roads rules  not  enforced

1 million   and  20 m2 tin shack  condo  Really 

I  think you rich ex pats  know nothing about the real Thailand 

My  wife   paid  120,000  baht  for  a  slightly run down unlived in condo  25  minutes  from Bangkok  80  Sq Ms

Ok  it  needed  a new  bathroom  smalll  kitchen   new  paint  new  windows  and doors  new floor Tiles  

some  re wiring  and  new Air/Con

Now looks  beautiful is in a nice little  Condo  complex  lovely  freindly  locals 

Using all  local  labour  and materials total  renovation  cost   100,000  Baht  add  all new furnishings 40,000  baht ...bed..  Internet  TV  white goods 

Finished  ....

Recently  Paid  the  transfer  title   tax  and the Condo  was  valued at only 280,000   baht Only

So  you and your  1  million baht tin 20ms  shack Condo  ..mate you  got scammed  ...hahahaha

The  worry   with Thailand  cities is the amount  of  vehicles  per  population 

Nearly  as high  per head as  population

That  air  pollution will only get  worse  each year as more and more   vehicles  are on the roads

Pollution  only  effects  some poeple  short term  the problem is  over years  it can kill you  experts  say  5-10  years off your  life 

As  for the sugar  Cane  burn  your  1000,s  of  acres  is nothing in Australia  our  Sugar  cane  covers  millions  of acres

We  stopped  burning for health  reasons  30  years ago

Machines  do all the work now  ......Why  do  Thailand  not use machines  to harvest  Cane like  most other countries  in the developed  world

The   Cane  mulsh  from the  cane is re-used   as fodder for  cattle  and other  livestock also  as Garden Mulsh  and  for general  improved  soil  quality..1  Machine  is  expensive  but  could do  many  small farms  in an area  to  save burning ...Gov  could  buy machines  to help its  farmers  

1  Submarine   could buy 200   machines  or more  much  more .... All   of Thailand  would only need  50 machines  max
