Yes, SafetyWing will provide you with a certificate stipulating the period of coverage. You should ensure that it aligns with the permission to stay the Visa you will be entering Thailand on. The permission to stay stamped in your passport by border-immigration will be CAPPED to the shortest one. So when entering on a Non Imm O-A Visa your insurance should be for a full year, and when entering on a 90-day Non Imm O Visa you only need it for 90 days.
Thanks for your quick response . I will be entering on an exisiting Non Imm O Visa that expires Feb. 9 , 2021 . The only 90 days for insurance has me wondering why 90 days as I will apply for another 12 month extension in February . Is the Non Imm O only capped at 90 days ?
This does get confusing becasue I will apply for 6 month insurance but then if things aren't under some sort of control by the end of April 2021 then I will need to extend month to month with SafetyWing . I don't want to leave Thailand and have to jump through these hoops again to return October 1, 2021.
Just bizarre how they can make , what should be , a simple process into a cluster *uck .

I guess I should specify I was talking about SafetyWing .

Yes, the covid-19 policies on https://covid19.tgia.org
are issued by TGIA - the Thai insurance lobby and they do meet the 100.000 US$ covid-19 insurance requirement to apply for the COE.
But there are far better (and cheaper) options available.
If your current foreign/international health-insurance or your travel-insurance does not meet the covid-19 coverage of at least 100.000 US $, it is worth looking for a foreign insurance policy that does cover it. The Thai TGIA insurance < https://covid19.tgia.org/> is in fact very expensive for the single coverage of covid-19 it provides. The only advantage I see in that Thai policy is that you can subscribe to it till 99 years of age (and there is NO difference in premium per age-category which is of course ridiculous again from an insurance perspective but good news for older applicants).
When under 70 years of age, e.g. the SafetyWing travel-insurance policy < https://safetywing.com/nomad-insurance> will provide accident/illness cover of 250.000 US $ (including covid-19 coverage). And that FULL travel-insurance policy sells at at premium of 40 to 130 US $ per month depending on your age, and so the premium is often LOWER than the limited covid-19 only Thai insurance premium.
I quickly checked cost and it looks reasonable. Just wondering if they provide a letter you can show
Thai immigration that specifies you have Covid19 and 100k US coverage.

Finally an initiative that makes sense . No only safe to quarantine on a golf course but it is safe to golf . We.ve been doing it for months . Easy to social distance while playing . Seperate buggies and the golfers drive themselves . Make it cost attractive and there should be a good market for it once they relax the other unacceptable hoops we need to jump through .

No, the opposite is absolutely not true, and you can't have spent much time in Thailand if you sincerely believe that. Acting out and causing a scene is always frowned upon by fellow Thais.
ROTFLMAO. What a load of hogwash . At a minimum they are huge drama queens and it gets serious when you run across the one's , like in the video , who are spoiling to release some anger .
I have spent many years In Thailand and I have seen first hand what happens when a Thai thinks you are trying to embarass/insult/cheat him with the additional insight of a Thai family that tells me what the score is .
You obviously travel in very genteel circles . You should get out among the real people .
My first experince with a Thai reacting to an insult was a wedding that erupted into a pitched battle with a hundred combatants. The agrieved family was from Bangkok and they drove 2 hours to the wedding , that they hadn't been invited to , so they could save face by starting a massive brawl . The irony was they weren't invited because they had started a brawl at a previous family wedding that they hadn't been invited to .
Thai's don't like to act out !!!! You must be joking .

Head first ... right into the problems ...
This guy , Narathiwat “Ken” Khamma , did no favor to the democratic movement by reacting in such an uncontrolled and offensive way . ( and that in front of many cameras ...)
I thought that Thai's ' lose their face ' by showing that they are not able to control themselves ... ?
I do not know what led to this , but it is difficult to justify violence only because of a problem in communication .
Unfortunately the exact opposite is true . Thais lose face when they don't lose control and strike out after perceiving being offended in any way shape or form . Never insult any Thai unless you are ready for the blow back . Land of Smiles quickly becomes Land of Screwballs when they are even slightly embarassed by someone . Their reaction often greatly exceeds the severity of the slight . Don't underestimate the violent streak in many many many Thai's . Cab drivers carry machetes , Moto bike drivers carry knives .
If you think you want to flip someone off while in a car think again because there is a high probability of being chased down and assaulted . Easy solution STF* and keep driving. Thai's do not yield the right of way . You need to take it without eye contact and hopefully without rubbing wheel covers.
You shouldn't judge a book by its cover but the Russian gives the impression of being a right <deleted> to put
the child in such an unnecessary volatile situation . He clearly doesn't understand the first rule for expats in Thailand that states " If any thing bad happens it is the expats fault because it would not have happened if the expat had not come to Thailand . End of ". If you can't walk away then run because it will never end well for the Falang . He may have been just strolling minding his own business (doubtful) but even so the moment he was challenged he should have gracefully altered his path and carried on to avoid trouble.
Let's be thankful the Russian didn't raise a hand to the thug because the thug's mates would have done the Thailand 2 step on him . Step 1; only one Thai starts fighting Falang . Step 2 ; a multitude of mates do the pile on and target the victims head with their feet as much as possible until he is rendered immobile .
I am of the opinion the only thing that saved this man a trip to intensive care or worse was the presence of so many camera's .
Needles to say the Thug should be incarcerated for the assault . I expect the Falang will end up paying the Thug a couple of thousand baht for putting his nose in the way ofthe Thugs forehead .

" never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” How frustrating for those in the tourist industry having their fate determined by the gang who couldn't shoot straight . The question is asked "when will things improve ?" and the bureaucrats say "it is getting better you just don't realize it yet " . They don't have the courage to tell people how bad it really is nor the courage to take an educated risk to balance risk and reward . People are seeing a lifetime of work disappearing under a flood of incompetence .
High season is here and no sign of the possibility of tourist trade because of diffficult and onerous restrictions .
Time is running out to save this years tourism . Tic toc ,

To legally become an immigrant in the eyes of the Thai governemnt you need a permanent residendcy commonly known in farang circles as a PR. Very difficut to get and near impossible if you are an average retiree (I put myslef in that category). None of the people mentioned in this article are "permanent residents" but unfortunately want to be treated as such. While the people mentioend in this article have my sysmpathy, it does not appear they put in the effort to become permanent residents. If you want to adopt Thailand as your country, you have to get Thailand to adopt you. This takes a lot of effort. When I came here 16 years ago the PR was ridiculed as being too expensive and not woth the effort. That may be the case but I take off my hat to those who learnt the Thai language to pass the test, start a business/get a job, go through rigorous procedures, inspections, documentation, etc to become a permanent resident. IMHO living in Thailand is a priviledge that has to be earned and not a right. Similar to orignator of this post I do not consider myself IMHas an immnigrant as I did not put in the necessary effort.
A privilige ?? <deleted>. This is exactly the attitude of the Thai policy makers which make it less and less appealing as a retirement country . Foreigners visit/retire for hot weather , sandy beaches , women , food and all available at relative discounts in a relatively safe country . You are fooling yourself if you think it is anything special beyond that .
Foreigners entering Thailand should be treated for what it is : a business arrangement . We bring money into the economy that provides a livelihood for millions of Thai's . We are simply customers of the country and should be given the respect and support any good business gives to it's customers . No thailand is priviliged to have us come and support an economy that can not sustain it's population without Foreign money being injected ino it . Hopefully one day they will have a government that shows appreciation for visitors to their country .

"The rest of the world has confidence in us and many foreigners want to visit.
"We must use all our "charms" to get lots and lots of them to come".
Actually the rest of the world has little to no confidence in them to manage an orderly recovery. Every pronouncement looks more like a <deleted> take than an educated strategy to recover. The pandemic has done much harm around the world in revealing how some elected government mem bers actually merit their position but most are self indulgement *wats unable to respond to a serious and immediate problem .
The issue is to safely reopen and the *wats look at it as an opportunity to fleece Falang . Not working out very well so far . I have to beleive that the majority ofthese high rnking appointments are through patronage becasue none of them seem to have th skill sets necessary to do the job .
This guy has already showed the world how charming he is . Now the real presure is on and it is time to pucker up .
1. Ask for Covid test before boarding plane . (stuff your fit to fly nonsense) .
2. Ask for proof of Covid and $100K insurance .
3. Ask for 14 day Quarantine ASQ .
4. Check for covid on arrival.
5. Implement quarantine protocal .
6. If healthy after 14 days release into the wild .

Not only are they doing irrepairable damage to tourism they are setting the stage for tourists to suffer very very aggressive demands from the locals who have been waiting in bread lines because there were no foreigners providing employment opportunities . On my return I expect Pattaya to feel more like the *hithole known as Angeles City with begging becoming a problem .
I expect to read of increased theft from tourists as the locals have been put into survival mode . I hope I am wrong but what are people to do when there is no social safety net and the government can't organize a <deleted> up in a pub.

Unfortunate how those in power will not admit to themselves that Thailand is marketable as a cheap holiday (relatively speaking) and not a high end destination . They keep pretending that Thailand is a special place that tourists are lucky to be allowed to spend time in . They need to change that thinking and operate with tourism and immigration bureau's that work hard to encourage tourists and returning ex pats and not continually insult their intelligence by cloaking money grabs with a supposed concern for public safety .
The continuing message they are putting out is we don't want you just your money .
The one comparitively easy attraction is cheap pussy (yes price is going up ) but now that service is not as appealing with the threat of catching the virus so if you are just looking for beaches and sun there are so many options that Thailand could suffer years of lost revenue to other destinations . One of the the worst thing you can do in business is give a customer a reason to try out your competitor . Very hard to get them back once they have made the switch .
Probably be some good deals on condo's as people are getting fed up with these silly conditions for returning and may look at selling and going some place where they may feel welcomed . I certainly regret having bought a condo in Jomtien and will look at unloading it when I finally get back to Thailand . Lesson learned .

Donny is so smart he is holding rallies to reach out to the votes he already has and not waste time on a socially distanced debate that goes far beyond his base .

The only country that has handled the coronavirus appropriately is the USA.
Wow . I beleive this is now called Trumpian logic . Twist reality and you can make a case for anything .
"The problem is the testing not the disease " ????.
Only the USA has handled the virus appropriately is beyond absurd . What is happening is
Making America Grab it;s Ankles
Having said that I will also point out Thailand is doing a poor job of balancing safety with allowing citizens to make a living . The government is over complicating a manageable system but taking little to no responsiblity in helping the country to recover . Sound familiar ? .
2 or 3 week tourists aren't submitting to a 2 week quarantine. The target group is long stay like O-visa retiree's . No problem to demand testing prior to flight and then after arrival . Confirm insurance in place again makes sense . 14 day quarantine is universally accepted as the standard and makes sense.
Test on day 14 then if negative release into the wild and allow the service industries access to customers who will be required to be masked until further notice ,
Right now Covid 19 is manging the government and they need to turn it around .

Just checking the possibility of the Caribbean this winter and I see the Bahamas is agreeable to accepting a certified Covid test 7 days prior to arrival , quick test on arrival and follow up test 5 days later . Probably give it another month but if Thailand doesn't make more tourist friendly demands I could be booking in the Caribbean . They can choke on the money they defrauded in Non O visa's and rentry permits .

Standing by to see once they drop it down to 7/14 day quarantine and proof of condo ownership and I will book. Covid test before getting on plane makes sense . Fit to fly certificate is just a silly annoyance.

We have our own transport.
Problem with that is the bar makes no money to compensate for arranging the tee times so not sure they would be happy for you to piggyback on their tee times . As far as I know they make a few baht on arranging transport so you really should use their transport which also means you are more likely to buy a beer or two at the bar on your return.

Chris Christy has tested positive . Some Senators form the Supreme Court announcement super spreader have tested positive . If Amy Coney Barrett tests positive , well , if there was any doubt before I think the jury can now say this guy ( to call him President is an insult to the office ) should be charged with a minumum of reckless endangerment . He put his own family at risk . Truly the lowest of the low .

I read there is a proposal to allow Non-O in if they have a balance of at least 500k baht in Thai bank account for past 6 months . Another dim witted attempt .Many Non-O who winter in Thailand and return to home country in summer don't keep hunderds of thousands of Baht in a Thai bank . Typically they ship over enough to satisfy Visa requirement and then live off what is in the thai bank till the following trip and then rinse and repeat . I believe we are moving in the right direction but it is a slow and painful process .
