Visa is required for almost everyone entering Cambodia.
Visa requirements are very strict, all rules need to be followed, or visa will be refused.
Below I will list the requirements.
1. $20
Basically if a monkey shows up with $20 and a passport he'll get his visa on arrival.

Bus 48, the pink ones are nice and airconditioned now, goes all the way along Sukhumvit, ends at Wat Pho.
14-16 Baht, depending on where you get on, 8 Baht if you take the old fan clunkers on the same route.

Toys-R-US, in the Carrerfour center on Rama IV road, or a larger outlet in Central Bang-Na.

my tourist visa expired on 1 november 2009 ( 2 months)
then i will go to immiration office for 1 month extention in that day
but 1 november in sunday !! the immigration office is might be closed on sunday ; does it matter if i go there
on 2 november on monday?? will it be problem or not ?!
or shall i better go there on 30 october !! is saturdays also closed at 31 oct.? accually i dont want to lose days....
will be glad for the right answers my question.
thanks.
You can go at any time BEFORE the visa expires, and get a 30 days extension (disclaimer here, not for all countries of origin, check). It doesn't matter if you go weeks in advance, the extension will be added to the end of your visa.
If you go after it expires, you will be pointed to the nearest border exit to pay overstay, leave and come back on a valid visa, or be arrested and put in IDC, depending on your behavior or the kind of bad day the officer is having...
So, go tomorrow

Considering the death toll was thankfully very low, I doubt it will make a significant difference, only marginally.

While overall statistics indicate a decline in international arrivals, I have recently flown several times from and back to Heathrow, and the planes have been full, whereas back in the days when tourism was booming I rarely flew on a full to capacity flight, often only 2 thirds or less seats occupied.
Something does not compute- in a recession surely the last place one would holiday would be Thailand, which is no bargain anymore, and flights on Thai are anything but cheap.
Two words...
Less Flights

You're right, all 01xxxx numbers have been converted to 081xxxx a couple of years ago.
The only 012 prefix I can find in the area is the mobitel network in Cambodia, you may want to try there...
Good luck!

012 is a valid mobile phone prefix.
If you're out of the country dial +6612... instead of 012...
also the two stars on the end may mess things up

Funny thing is that back in Australia people seem to have no problem with her arrest and hardly any sympathy at all, regarding the comments to the Herald Sun newspaper.
Doesn't seem like tourism will be affected much by the arrest of another foul mouthed ozzie sheila...

Working fine here in Thailand, but don't fret you're not missing much.
What a bunch of crap. It's just some random writing to fill the empty space between advertisements.

I have all scripts / flash / crap disabled by default and enable it on a per-case basis.
Gets rid of all annoying stuff and gets you right to the content you're actually looking for.

PS 'keepalive' just tells the other ssh process to, if it is configured to allow it, *drop the ssh connection* if keep-alives are not 'seen' at the regular interval. The purpose of a keep-alive is to stop you from being locked out of 'something' due to 'something' thinking you're still logged in (a 'bogus session')
While this is obviously true, keepalive does doe one more thing, which is important in this context: when you are idle for a while it does send the occasional query packet.
Here our great network engineers have blessed us with private routing nets and cheap NATing routers all over the place. These things tend to be starved for memory, and can't cope with the thousands of connections running through them, so after a while they tend to 'forget' (actually make room for new connections) old 'inactive' connections.
Doesn't matter, because the 'interweb' only uses short-term connections anyways, right...
So by sending these keepalive packets starved or just misconfigured NATing routers tend not to forget your session so quickly. I have had a lot of success by using this option, while other people report lots of success by switching it off...

Some background information which maybe helps to get some perspective about this ceremony, as the original Nation article was a bit short on specifics regarding the ritual.
The Royal Ploughing Ceremony is an ancient Brahminical rite dating back to the Sukhothai period (1257 - 1350 A.D.) The ceremony, which heralds the start of the new rice-growing season, was undertaken to assure a successful planting season and an abundance of the nation's crops. Festivities were held to boost the farmers' morale urging them to strive for an abundant harvest for consumption and to ensure sufficient reserves for times of war and for export overseas.
The practice faded out towards the end of the reign of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) but was later revived by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1960 (B.E. 2503). Since then, it has been observed annually.
Today, the Royal Ploughing Ceremony consists of two ceremonies - a Cultivating Ceremony known as "Phraraj Pithi Peuj Mongkol" and the Ploughing Ceremony, "Phraraj Pithi Jarod Phranangkal Raek Na Kwan". Both royal ceremonies are state events with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives assuming the role of the Lord of the Harvest or Phraya Raek Na, while four single female officials of the Ministry holding positions of second rank and above in the civil service undertake the role of the Celestial Maidens or Nang Thepi, assistants to the Lord of the Harvest.
The Cultivating Ceremony is a Buddhist ritual performed one day before the Ploughing Ceremony. Paddy and the seeds of forty other crops and ceremonial items to be used in the Ploughing Ceremony are blessed. His Majesty the King (or a representative) presides over the religious rites which are performed in the Royal Chapel of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha within the compounds of the Grand Palace. With lustral water poured over his hands and his forehead anointed by His Majesty the King, the Lord of the Harvest receives the royal blessing. The four Celestial Maidens also receive similar blessing. The Lord of the Harvest then receives the ceremonial ring and sword to be used in the Ploughing Ceremony from His Majesty the King.
The Royal Ploughing Ceremony which is held the next morning at Sanam Luang -- The Royal Ground -- begins with the Lord of the Harvest performing a rite to predict the amount of rainfall in the coming season. This is done by selecting one of three pieces of cloth of varying lengths. At the auspicious time following the arrival of His Majesty the King and members of the Royal Family, the Lord of the Harvest begins to plough the field and sows the rice seeds from the baskets carried by the Celestial Maidens. At the end of the ploughing ceremony, the ceremonial bulls are led to troughs, each containing one of seven different offerings of food or drink namely, paddy, green beans, maize, hay, sesame seed, water and liquor. Predictions regarding the success of the harvest and the abundance of particular crops in the coming season are determined by the items selected by the bulls. Then as the barricades are removed, hundreds rush into the field hoping to gather a few sacred rice grains scattered by the Lord of Harvest. These are either mixed with the farmer's own rice stock to ensure a good crop in the coming year, or simply kept as a token of good luck.

also use 'screen' (man screen), basically saves your terminal session in between connects. just type 'screen' in linux the first time you connect, then when you get disconnected, next time 'screen -r' restores the screen from where you left.
Commands that were running don't get interrupted by your disconnect.
You can use ctrl-a, d to manually detach if you want.
more options in 'man screen'
use it, you'll love it.
-
Set keepalive on, usually if you don't do anything for a minute orso the connection drops because the intermediate (NATing) routers forget about your connection.
In Putty:
Load your session,
on the left hand side, click on 'connection'
check: enable TCP keepalives
put 30 in seconds between keepalives
Save your session.
Also, putty can auto-logon, but you have to generate a keypair with puttygen.exe (seperate download) and put the public one on the server in your home directory (/home/{user}/.ssh/authorized_keys file)
Good luck,
JD

Sorry for the tongue in cheek reply, but no one really says it better than Dave Barry:
Now, you might ask, "How do I get one of those complete home
tool sets for under $4?" An excellent question.
Go to one of those really cheap discount stores where they sell
plastic furniture in colors visible from the planet Neptune and where
they have a food section specializing in cardboard cartons full of
Raisinets and malted milk balls manufactured during the Nixon
administration. In either the hardware or housewares department,
you'll find an item imported from an obscure Oriental country and
described as "Nine Tools in One", consisting of a little handle with
interchangeable ends representing inscrutable Oriental notions of tools
that Americans might use around the home. Buy it.
This is the kind of tool set professionals use. Not only is it
inexpensive, but it also has a great safety feature not found in the
so-called quality tools sets: The handle will actually break right off
if you accidentally hit yourself or anything else, or expose it to
direct sunlight.

Yeah 6 am to midnight, Trains actually start running about 15 minutes beforehand to 'fill up' the tracks. If you're lucky you can skip by a security guard with a smile and catch one. Stations doors fully open at exactly 6 though.
